Just now, electronicboy, who works for the hosting company of the server came on.
He said it was a giant crash and there was no hackers, it's back to normal now, hopefully this causes everyone to stop worrying

Well if I accepted this theory , tell me what or who caused such thing.

It is possible that a crash could make mods lose OP, destroy server coding, and turn pvp on. However, the hackers getting diamond items probably had more to do with their hacks and no plugins to stop them.
