Thoughts on EW 1.13

1) You can only eat/use right click items in your offhand if you are looking at a block and in range of it.

2) Erebor is now prismarine so bricks can be used in other builds. This is a good start, but I noticed there are dark prismarine bricks too, and I think they should be used instead. That way new players who don't use the texture pack at least will have erebor in a dark-brick color rather than light

3) PvP has been affected, but the hit detection is nowhere near as bad as everyone is saying, imo

4) A lot of new block oppurtunities, now granite/andesite/diorite have stairs/slabs and I think the EW pack should use a better medieval/LOTR texture for them and they can be used in builds.

5) Archers seem to have a problem with damage

Hit detection is a bit better imo, atleast i find it easier to fight people now

Fair enough. You could also use a retextured dark prismarine for variations, like a different tint of green for statues/pillars/arches etc. Sort of how stone buildings use a mix of stone + stone brick + cobblestone.
 
I'll need to record it, but the hit detection is so bad that you can literally go entire seconds without being able to hit the enemy (in melee) without any server lag whatsoever while having low ping. It always seems to be against the same people too, so maybe it's something to do with the enemies ping too. On tim's survival server while trying to melee a running enemy (while I had speed 2) I was unable to hit him for about 10-20 seconds (particles and hit sounds were showing / playing). I'm guessing the anti-cheat since 1.13 is at fault since the servers aren't lagging at all.

And yeah any classes which use arrows barely deal any damage. No idea about this one, but if it's a base game issue then every ranged class is going to need rebalancing (again).
 
This is half-bugs and half suggestions it seems.

In terms of the bugs, check the bug reports section and the Discord #update-feed. I've answered everything regarding Hit Det, Offhand bug, and damage issues in Drew's 1.13 issues thread in the bug reports forum.

One thing to add on hit det here: It is extremely apparent that the change from 1.12-1.13 has not had the same effect on everyone. For everyone who says it's got worse, someone else says it's got better. But I toned down some of the NoCheat checks. That should make it easier for.... people to hack, but due to our current player numbers and active staff, I think we can cope with that for now.

I'll look at Dark Prismarine vs Light, and I completely agree we have a lot more options with blocks (and classes) now in 1.13!
