VENTURES INTO THE REMOTE (RP)

"Not much difference really..." Cardiloc mused nervously, but even he wasn't so sure. "Just keep to yourself," He instructed the both of them, he searched for the great hall of this settlement.

Celeborn took a while to respond, "Yes. A daughter. Her name was Celebrian, she is safe for now in the West with the Valar. I hope," He paused, "And you, Master Burgins?" His tone had changed, though, to what, Daugo could not guess. He still held friendly charm in his voice yet he appeared to be contemplating something.

The Great Hall....

Was burned down. Cardiloc saw its ruins in the distance. What had happened here? Had Rohan defeated them? What was this? Eyes watched them from the huts, hidden behind open windows and tarps.

The earth trembled and the slamming of his warhammer caused a minor earthquake, throwing the pike line into disarray. All around him was battle. The Guardians of the Gate had broken formation and charged the lines of Morgoth's followers, now both were in shock melee.
"FREEDOM! FOR THE GIVER OF FREEDOM!" The cries erupted behind Pyrus as hundreds of his siblings rushed to reinforce and protect him.

To Pyrus' left one of his allies was stabbed with a Maiar-blade, he saw the female, a Maiar of Yavanna with woven nets of flowers around her head begin to scream and her very essence, her grace, her soul was killed in front of him, her eyes burning as light exploded out of her physical form. She fell back to the floor as the Guardian continued forward, plowing through the onslaught, punching, kicking, stabbing and slaying more and more of his brethren. Ahead of him another Guardian appeared, rushing towards him with a Maiar-blade in hand.

Ha'zi eyed the ruins then looked to Cardiloc. "What was that supposed to be? Something important?" 12700073

"The great hall, it seems those accursed horse shaggers have been busy." He grumbled to Ha'zi, though he was taken aback by the devastation they had caused. "Let's head up there," He decided, leading them on.

Iver screeched, they needed to leave. 13615485

The elf's attitude seemed to have changed considerably more than he was willing to reveal. It was time for a brief game of psychological guesswork.

This sudden solemnity was a mask for some new anxiousness and a dose of old sadness. The new anxiousness was not hard to understand. The elves go to Valinor when they get world-weary, and Valinor had recently been revealed to not be all they thought it was. His daughter might even be in danger, or could be in danger if the Valar found out he was rebelling and used her as a hostage. The old sadness was not as easy to figure out. Considering various possible scenarios, he settled on one where father and daughter had never been very close, and that at some point he'd come to deeply regret it.

"Yes, I have two. The oldest one is Sullfast, we call him Sully." He smiled nostalgically. "The youngest one, we call Bum, though his name is Bolham. Sully is in his tweens now, and Bum is soon to enter his teens." Looking at the elf's expression, he said: "Master Celeborn, d'you have any reason to worry about your daughter over there in Valinor?"

As they moved towards the ruins of the great hall, a group of wildmen stepped in their way.

"Where do you think yar going?" One of them said in the Dunlending tongue, spitting before Dimitri's feet. "You think you can come to our home without a little payback, horse-fucker?" He grunted, pulling a knife from his fur-belt and showing it off. It was crooked and corroded and seemed to have a piece of raw meat still attached to it.

Celeborn's face seemed to darken at this prospect, "I have reason to worry. Like an eagle that worries about its chicks, I worry for my daughter. I saw the truth when Manwe's soldiers descended upon us with sword and flame. Let us hope she is given safe haven in the West and not treated like my kinsmen who died in Imladris. Let us hope that your Sulfast and Bolham shall see full lives, have their own freedoms and experience the beauty of Arda. Let us hope, Master Burgins, that we put an end to Morgoth's plans and are free of scrutiny from the Valar. Let us hope."

Dimitri should've felt intimidated, perhaps even scared. That was before he had the capability to turn into a 20 foot tall killing machine with rapid healing capabilities, when he was young and so 'pure and innocent'. A foolish thought. In response to the Dunlending barbarians taking up arms against him, Dimitri got out his warhammer and said in the tongue of the Adorn, "If this was an arms races, I won."

Ha'zi gave a warning glance to Dimitri, then replied to the aggressive man, "Sir, we bring no harm here. See our friend here," he motions to Cardiloc,"is one of your people. He came here to see his family. Do you recognize him?"

The Dunlending spat on Ha'zi as the boy began to speak, "Mud filth," he said in Dunlending and his friends laughed. When Dimitri took out the warhammer, his allies also produced weapons: crude spears, old swords and one with a wooden javelin. The first one egged Dimitri on, waving the knife in the man's face.

Sigeric finally arrived at the Old Ford, after two days of riding. He planned to continue north to the Forest Gate, and to travel through Mirkwood. The forest had been growing dangerous when he had passed through 20 years ago, and he had little idea what it was like now. He surveyed the ford, preparing to cross. There was once an old stone bridge here, but it had crumbled long ago.

"Neither of these folk are with those accursed Rohirrim." Cardiloc responded to the Dunlendings in a strained tone. "Put away your damned warhammer before you get us killed, we're here to warn my folk not piss them off." He said angrily to Dimitri, then the Dunlending spat at Ha'zi's feet. He frowned at that, anger crossing his face yet he relented and spoke. "We seek an audience with the great chief of Dunland, about important matters concerning the fate of Middle Earth."

"Aye, just a second laddy." He replied to Iver, then motioned to Marco to come over to him. "See, Marco, there's something else here in this blasted place we need to look for. The Crown of Durin the Deathless. Think you can help me search for a bit, eh?"

Daugo nodded thoughtfully while the elf spoke. "You have a way with words, Master Celeborn."

He looked around, trying to get some idea of his bearings. What would his surroundings look like?

The stone bridge had been rebuilt and Sigeric saw a number of people wading across it, as well as a handful of rather tall burly men tolling the bridge. He would have to cross it to reach the Old Forest road. Did he have enough to pay, though?

The Dunlendings showed surprise at hearing Cardiloc speak their tongue, "The Great Chief? Are you mocking me, boy?" The man asked, angrily, shoving the knife to Cardiloc's throat.
"Who are ye and what business do ya have here?" He asked, pinning Cardiloc to him. His allies surrounded him, making it impossible to get to Card unless they went through them.

Before Iver could respond, a figure appeared in front of him, standing ahead of Thoruk.

"Hey, there, babycakes," Iver instantly recognized the voice. He saw the smirking face in front of him with that tawny silky horsehair thrown up artistically.

"Gotta hand it to you, I thought you lot were morons but I didn't take you for absolute fools," The Trickster said to Iver's bat form, taking advantage of the fact Iver couldn't reply, "I'll make this short. There ain't a crown of Durin the Deathless here. That fat-fuck passed the crown onto his kid, then his kid and now it's-" the Trickster paused, "In Erebor with the new King. Thoruk seems to be high or something, you might wanna get him checked out." The Trickster added for extra effect, walking around a bit and prodding Thoruk's burnt beard.

Both Thoruk and Marco did not respond to any of this and remained normal. Thoruk awaiting Iver's answer and Marco an onlooker. Could they not see the Trickster? He was twirling Thoruk's beard!

Celeborn nodded to the Hobbit, acknowledging the compliment and continued to pass the time in silence. Allowing Daugo to his thoughts. They had spent a week on the road and had passed by Bree, crossed huge bridges and seemed to be heading south on this rather large road. He remembered it. The Greenway. It had been much more overgrown but now it seemed that the plant life had been cut away and the cobbled dirt restored slightly.

13527980

"Alright then, I'll do it myself I guess." Thoruk gruffly mutters. He walks down the halls with his torch lighting up the shadows, looking in every corner for the fabled crown. "Gotta be here somewhere, aye."
--------------
"HEY! Stop that, or else I WILL, without a thought, greatly hurt you!" Ha'zi threatens as he pulls out his bow, aiming at the nearest Dunlending mugger.

"Are you the chieftain of Dunland then?" Cardiloc gasped, he made no effort to escape from the blade. "My name is Cardiloc I'm a dunlending, Ha'zi is the boy, he is a Haradrim from a land far away. Dimitri here is a Forelchrim, from the far north. None of us are your enemies were here to warn you about a great evil." He spluttered out truthfully.

Thoruk found no crown. Just broken bits and pieces of equipment and machinery that was made obsolete, relics of the past.

--------

The Dunlending lessened his grip, "You're one of us? But, you ask about the Chieftan? Where have you been for the past three years? The Chieftan was slain in the Fight at the Fortress in the land of the Horse Kings along with many of the other tribal leaders and heirs. How can you ask me for the Chieftan when we do not even know where his body is?" He let the boy go a little. The Dunlending men surrounding him saw Ha'zi with the bow and one approached with a spear, prodding the boy backward, provoking him.

Sigeric found three gold coins. It should be enough, depending on how inflation of gold was these days.
"Halt, do you want to make use of the bridge?" One man blocked his way forward, he was big, hairy and incredibly ugly. Sigeric could sniff him out from the horse.
