The rain poured through the night and Grimnir felt miserable. He was drenched, starved and sleep deprived. He could barely sleep. And the hours ticked by as he slowly fell into a nap on the forest floor, next to a tree. When he awoke it was to the sound of humming birds and chirping insects at noon. He had overslept and most of the water had evaporated, yet, he was still moist. He felt slightly nourished and his mind was clearer. He knew his intended goal. Erebor. But, how would he get there? How would he cross the Anduin? Would he go through Mirkwood or around? Was Grimnir even bothered about time? It had been five days since Rivendell and would take more than a week to reach Erebor at this rate. Would he even go south to Mordor or let the storm fall upon the southern states and keep the dwarves alive?

But would Dimitri tell her? He hadn't quite lost his mind, yet.
"Your arm? But, your arm is fine, Dimitrius?" His adoptive mother patted his muscular shoulders. "Right?"
Would Dimitri tell her? Would he inform her of the coming doom? Or let her live out her life in blissful ignorance?

The little girl sighed and opened the door further, "Follow me." She led him inside to their mother who sat at a chair staring into the distance. She slightly turned her head to the direction of the door.
"Who goes there?"
"Ela, mama." The girl replied, leading Cardiloc to their mother, "This boy claims to be Cardiloc, my brother. Mama, you cannot see him but please, describe him to me?"
The elderly woman spoke, "My son Cardiloc. He was strong and tall. He had a face like Papa and had brown furry hair like a bear. He was lean and easy to anger. I remember my boy, he yelled at me now and then when I hit him for trying to do dumb things. I remember his face. How he smiled. I remember him the day before he died. He was smiling at being able to hunt alone when he was of age. I remember." Tears trickled down her eyes and she dabbed at them with her dusty hands, sobbing.

"What?" The eagle said, landing in front of the bat.
"You are not being deceived? Is he not a servant of the Enemy?"
