Ha'zi's dreamt of his trips to Far Harad's vast jungles with his mother when he was about 8 or 9. The Mors were rather poor citizens of Harad, and they were short on money for food. So Ha'zi's mother, Dace Mor, would secretly go on trips for the familiy to Far Harad with Ha'zi to bring in food for their household. Lod, his father, was fine with his wife's frequent hunting expeditions, as his job as a merchant left him little time to watch the boy, but worried for Ha'zi's safety. Dace reminded him that Ha'zi was in good hands, she used to hunt as a child, too, so she knew how to keep them safe.
The dream was focused on one specific trip: the day he saw his first Mumakil. They were doing small game hunts at the time, Dace was showing Ha'zi how to properly shoot a bow at a bird that had yet to see them, when there was a large tremor in the jungle. The ground and the trees shook and rumbled, many birds and small mammals soon departed from their spot to flee from the the source of these disruptions. Ha'zi backed away with his mother, eyes wide, "Wha-what's happening, ma? What is it?" Dace looked down to the boy, and motioned for him to stay quiet, a small smile on her face. They crouched down in the grass as a behemoth of a creature appeared, tusks as long and sharper than pikes, feet wider than barrels, and grey, tough skin rippling with muscles: a Mumakil, also known as the oliphaunt.
Ha'zi stared in awe at the Mumakil. He had never seen something so massive, so frightening, so... majestic. However, he had heard of them before. The Mors once lived near a Haradrim military camp, and there was the occasional cry and trumpeting from a Mumakil, then soon the sound of the ground quaking, as the Southrons were taming these beasts for war. Ha'zi had heard descriptions and tales of the beasts from his friends whose parents worked as soldiers or those who tried to see the creatures themselves. He was one of the latter, but unfortunately for Ha'zi, his family moved as his parents thought the area was unsafe if the beasts ever were to escape.
Now, he could clearly see why. They could probably impale 1.. no, at least 10, people at once, feet that could trample many, and is large enough to just out right frighten. But he.. he only saw it's beauty, not the harm it could pose. Then, another thought came to mind. If he brought down a Mumakil, his family would no longer be poor! They could finally move away from the poor parts of Harad. Giddy at the prospect of this, the boy grabbed his spear and aimed it at the beast's face. "Ha'zi!" His mother hissed, "Put that away, you're going to get us killed!" The boy gulped, and put it down gently, "Sorry, ma."
After the Mumakil finally moved on, Dace turned to Ha'zi, "It's ok, Ha'zi. I just don't want you to get hurt, you know? I love you with all my heart, Ha'zi. I couldn't bear to lose you." He hugged her, "I love you too, ma. I don't want to lose you, either." When they were done, Ha'zi and his mother spent some time in the jungle hunting small game, then finally left to return home with their prizes...
Ha'zi woke up from this happy dream, a tear coming down his face. Cardiloc was wrong, even if his father sold him away... he still loved the boy, and Ha'zi loved both of his parents. They had always cared and provided for him, in a time when they could only afford a tent as a living space. And more than anything, he wanted to be with them. To tell them the things he's done and seen, the people he met, the creatures he'd seen. A sad smile came to Ha'zi as he thought of describing the crocolion to his mother. She.. she would be proud of him. At least, he hoped so.
As Ha'zi was still processing these thoughts, he heard a voice calling him. Card? What did he want? To tell him that Lesier thought he was weak, so that's why he gave his spear to the Dunlending? He didn't want to go to Cardiloc, but he knew it must be important.
When he gathered his things, he heard and saw something coming down in the sky. Oh no... fireballs. More Maiar. That must be what Card wants me for. He grabbed his items with new haste, then ran to where he thought the cabin was, calling for the Dunlending, "CARD! Card, I'm here! Where are you!?"
