A new era
Welcome to the new Empire War forum! If you somehow didn't notice, Enjin shut down a few months ago, meaning we have been without a website since the 30th of April. If you haven't seen it already, I encourage you to read my announcement about it; https://forum.empirewar.org/threads/enjin-shutting-down.203/.
Technical info:
We have done our best to scan the Enjin forum before it shut down for as much data as possible to then migrate here. This process took several hours per scan and we had to develop our own software to download all the data as there were either no other solutions or they did not work, so overall the collecting of this data spanned over several weeks right up to a few days before the shut down. In addition to this, Enjin had little API documentation and much of it was hidden - we were only just able to download profile posts in time.
We also had to develop our own Enjin -> Xenforo importer (the software this forum is using). This importer is not perfect and thus you may notice some bugs, such as multiple quotes in posts not having been converted. Additionally, due to the nature of differences between Enjin and Xenforo, quotes do not link to the correct post. If there is a post that is particularly mangled in some way, feel free to report it using the report button on the post so that we can edit it.
Data lost
Unfortunately, it was not possible to migrate all data. The following data has been lost to the sands of time
:- Any kind of private messages, as naturally we wouldn't have access to these
- Your game info
- Thread tags (e.g "Bug solved", "Report rejected" etc. tags). Any tags you do see have been manually added.
- Some images that were linked to the Enjin image proxy. It was not possible to download these due to API and time limitations. Images hosted on other sites, e.g Imgur will still work.
- Wall post photos section
- Wall (profile) banners
- Friends/followers
- Passwords, for obvious reasons.
- "Staff Updates" section on the main page.
- Emails.
However, we were able to salvage the following data:
- All threads and posts
- Announcements (but no view count or comments)
- Wall/Profile posts
- Birthdays
- Join date
- Last seen date
- "About" profile field
- Locations
- User ranks (incl. v1 donators)
- Profile images
Account access
If you filled out the Google Form we provided up to Enjin shutting down, then you will receive a password reset email shortly. Reset your password as soon as possible when you receive the email, as it expires after a few days.
Note: Emails have finished being sent. We were unable to find some users. If you did not receive an email, use the contact form or contact us via Discord.
If you did not fill out the form, then you will have to contact us and we will need to verify that you are the holder of that account. Unfortunately, we are unable to verify using your email. Enjin allowed us to do an email lookup manually to check the account matching it, but not get the emails of every account. This is why the form was important to fill out, and it will be harder if you failed to do so. Forms of verification may include:
- Being a known player; that allows us to easily match your account name and Minecraft username. In some cases we will be unable to verify using name matching, because of name changes and Mojang adding the ability to hide such changes from the Minecraft API.
- Enjin users who have a MC account linked can verify the ownership by joining our server with that same MC account.
