Chapter 2: Of the Great and Wise
It had been 655 years since Decay had seen any creature of his own, he had become a Legend, a Myth even. stories had been told of an evil deity... living within the overgrown ruins of Umbar. these stories would almost flatter decay if it weren't for one crucial detail. Decay, unlike others before him... was truly divine. you see, when most creatures of the world claimed to be of pure heart, they would announce it openly. white robes... auras of light and mystics. Decay, however... is different, for it is the Morning Star that glows bright in glory within the endless clouds of dark matter that pose the greatest threat. a truly divine being is the humble - seemingly insignificant creature by the road asking for spare coin. aside from the terror decay and his "druids" as they had come to be called, instilled within the hearts of those with greed and arrogance. decay had became capable of building a treasure hoard, and built a Vatican he did, this is where he kept knowledge of the wise, and artifacts of the great, safe from raiders and other such ilk. until one day, an elven king was born by the name of elpída, he was said to be the chosen one... destined to discover all secrets of the world and become the ruler of a nation, many strongholds of elpída had been built in the sea, sands, and even realms of the dead in his name, it was by the time Decay had tasted his fill from war, arrogance, and greed that elpída grew greedy, bold, and arrogant stating "who is he, that is afraid of myth!? are we all cowards?" the counsel of the wise had warned him of the terrors that had lied within the city of Umbar. "its a dangerous thing, wandering the grassy courtyards of that place" they had said, but elpída did not listen, like a fool he carelessly took a caravan of Llamas and Mules to steal The Witherer's treasures... the city had seemed like a ghost town, completely abandoned, but much to elpída's dismay, it was far from so... it had became nightfall and the Party's steed's had become tired... so a fire was lit, and some simple beef was cooked, elpída's personal guard, lógos had decided to take first watch for the night... he was terrified by the Bone-Chilling vex-like sounds coming from just beyond the darkness, lógos even claimed he could see sinister spectral eyes peering at him through the darkness, but nothing could have prepared lógos and his king for the terrors awaiting them by day break....
