Ask yourselves this.

Well where to start? Firstly I do not play Empire War any more for my own personal reasons, however I find this rather amusing and strange at the same time. So please can someone explain this to me?

Its Saturday afternoon now and when I used to play there was 40/50+ on at this time before all this 1.9 stuff, soooo I come on now and there are 12 people online on the entire network at the same time. Strange? Well there's more.

Apparently EW has been "expanding" recently, yet all I see now on the forums is just half the players who post are staff. As well as this, the Conwy server has been added. Surely it would be expected to have about 50 people online on the network because of this Conwy stuff?

Ask yourselves this, and yes I am directing it at all of you people who think 1.9 was a good idea. Was this just a coincidence that the server has lost 3/4s of its population in about 3 months? Maybe its time for those 1.9 lovers to admit that they were wrong about this. Ill probably just get hated on for posting this, you can pretend to be all oblivious and everything.

Well three questions to end off.
- Was updating to 1.9 a good idea?
- How has adding all these new features actually benefited the server?
- Is it more "fun" now that there is virtually no one ever online?

My answers to your three questions:

1): I don't think the 1.9 update is the cause of the lack of players, as most popular servers have been updating to 1.9. Plus, EW uses the 1.8 cooldowns, so I don't think the problem is with that. However, maybe the unbalanced axes as compared to swords may be a cause, as well as the EULA removing donor classes. I think overall the 1.9 update was a good idea, please give an example of how it would cause the decline.

2): By new features, do you mean Ages of War? It's too early to say how AoW will effect the server, though I am nervous that it may have a negative effect on LOTR Siege.

3): Of course it isn't more fun, and I find the lack of players severely disturbing. It makes me worry for the future of the server's playerbase, and I hope AoW brings players, though I'm not confident.

You raise some good points, and the only thing I disagree with is that it's a direct cause of 1.9. Going back to 1.8 won't accomplish anything.

I would say the unbalanced classes and removable of donor classes due to EULA are probably the causes for the lack of activity on the server. We just need to be patient and wait for Tim to rebalance axes and swords and whatever else was messed up during the 1.9 update. As for the whole EULA issue, Tim's probably working to make most, if not all, the donor classes point classes, and trying to come up with alternative benefits for donors to keep people donating.

Also, why'd you put a period in the title? Titles almost never have punctuation, and when they do it's never a period.

I agree that 1.9 was not the issue. If Adam had actually played on the server before the update, he would know that the player numbers were no different to what they are now. Players spike at weekends after updates - like the 1.9 update and Isengard.

About AoW. Tim keeps on saying that he will combine the servers eventually, but he is making AoW vastly different from LOTR Siege. Soon it will be so much work to combine them that he will never do so, and one of the servers will shut down (just like RP, LMS, LS, RPG, GoT Siege). To increase players, he must combine these servers, before it is too late.

I think after 1) New content is added and 2) Classes are balanced and made point, the server may pick up in numbers again.

Lack of activity was even greater troughout my holiday (last week of april - first week of may), which was before the new EULA stuff.

Also, why would you care about grammar? It's the internet, there's practicaly nobody who does not make grammatical errors on the internet, so what's the point in bashing on it?

Can't really say much about activity because I basically never get on the server anymore :P.

And quite frankly, I asked about his grammar because I was curious, that's all. I wasn't trying to bash anyone.

Your reply is also non-constructive.
Your reply is unconstructive
Ps
Servers rise and peak in popularity and their is nothing you can do to stop it, you can only delay the inevitable. It is often a snowball effect and once servers start going down hill it gets a lot worse very quickly. We may not be able to pinpoint the exact cause, but Tim should respond to this quickly before the snowball really picks up spead

Got to be the worst imagery I've heard in my life.

...yet all I see now on the forums is just half the players who post are staff.

They complained that there weren't enough active staff members on the forums. Now, they complain that staff members are too active. I don't know what you suggest for that dilemma. Perhaps tell staff members to stop posting to balance it out? Smh

1) Back-tracking to 1.8 probably won't affect the server. It's debatable.
2) New content
3) A lot of people go inactive because the people that used to play on the server have productive things to accomplish. The handful of people that do quit, say that they have "personal reasons" when in reality, they're just waiting for the server to downgrade to 1.8.

A lot of titles have punctuation and it's 45% of the time a period.

! at the end: Makes the title seem imperative, critical.
? at the end: Prompts readers to ask themselves a question before reading the actual thing.
. at the end: Usually used to avoid long titles/cuts it short (right to what's important and what actually matters).

Some servers still remain on the 1.8 version, others 1.9 and some 1.9.4. Personally I didn't play on Rockslider's Conwy server today because my Minecraft client was an invalid version. So I assume the predominant reason for the lack of players is due to people prioritizing their favorite server, and like I are to lazy to switch between versions.

Went and did a little research. A quick look around tells me that periods should never be put in titles unless it's for abbreviations.

Adding on to this, most servers tend to update to the very newest version as soon as possible. That means the outdated ones are far outnumbered by the updated ones. If players are traveling in between servers they would have to restart their client to switch to an outdated one, and that, although it might not actually take that long, from personal experience, the simple act of restarting your client seems to stretch on for ages.

Lol I'm sorry that your 7th grade essay guide forbids the use of periods in titles. The author does as he pleases.

No need for that Napoleon, we're all friends here. (Okay well maybe not, but let's try?)

Of course you ignore all the other replies which have great constructive criticism and then just reply to the one that is the worst out of them all

I'd like to introduce you to Adamrob2002. He doesn't give two trucks unless you agree or actually use his suggestions. :thumb:

This entire conversation has turned so quickly into some of the most dispicable sorts of fights.. *sigh* just as it hás gone out topic.

Only few people may have chosen to stay in past versions due to certain servers, as you said, but assuming this "few" is actually "most" of the server's old players is just a way of deluding your own.S

ome few reasons for the lower of players since Last Update are the following:

-1.9's Changes, especially PvP ones. Yes, the server did not adopt most of them, but not everyone knows of that. They simply did not like it.
-1.9 is even heavier than 1.8 making it harder for players that posess lesser computers.
-As for now MC is translating from 1.8 to 1.9, all servers, mods and etc are on this process.
-Camilla was forsaken since 1.7.10 by over 50% of the MC world due to dramatical changes.
-For Last and most important: the server may have turned slightly obsolete, all of its contente may seem repetetiv e and now the veteranos, or true EW lovers have grown tired of the usual old server, this may change as soon as soon as Age of War is fully launched, and Cowny's crew unites with the original members.
