There are a couple server I'd love to just do for a weekend, week or month and no longer.
But a RP server is not one of these, I simply won't waste any time and/or money into it, and it'll only deplete the amount of people on the siege server.

I don't think he is worrying about paying for it I think right now he is worrying about moderating keeping his plugins working since a butch of updates happened he will probably half to update it to. and everyone knows Sjoerdtim/all the coders in the world don't like updating stuff

Plugins are only part of the problem why he doesn't want to bring rp back.

How will you pay for it ?
 
I'd love to see a server with some kind of small map, e.g. 1000 by 1000, where people are given creative to fly and build fortresses.

They have a couple of days to build a fortress, on their own or in a group with others.

On the final day, the admins unleash a mob siege like never before, and it's the fight of their lives to defend their keeps.

Also theres things like tsunamis and poison gas and meteorites.

THAT WOULD BE FUN!

A couple big time bugs and updating the plugins are what is holding Tim back. If the server community grows maybe it'll happen.

The problem is mainly financial (what he recieves does not pay off his expenses AND his effort). TBH the rate things are going it seems that once RP disbanded the community lost its direction (Since EW siege is cyclic in nature nothing permanent could be done). Anyway my point is a non-minigame permanent server should be made at some point, although it does not have to be RP.
 
No offence m8 but if you let Akam pay for it he would have power in the server, and personally I don't think thats a good idea.
 
Ahh, my ears are ringing! Listen, I want RP back just as much as you, but you heard them, they have waaaay too much on their plate right now, remember the merge with CW? That takes a lot of time and effort. They said they would consider it after things settled down (end of summer maybe), leave it at that. If you keep pestering tim about this he'll say the the hell with it all and then we'll never get it back.

I paid for your server so that I could wear diamond armor, and then you took that privilege away. For EW RP, I just want to pay for it so that the server can just come back. 2. There's no point trying to convince people like Akam to think differently, because they're to uncompromised. He and other people are going to keep asking for rp back, and when it returns they're probably gonna realize that you can't just re create the same experience again. Just like I can't re create the same amazing experience I had when I started playing minecraft at 1.3 beta. Sure I can downgrade and play it again, but it will never ever be the same.

1. What is the problem then? If you guys told us the problems we might figure out a solution to it. On the other hand I think there are BIGGER problems if the RP server doesn't come back in some form (as said in other posts the RP server was a driving force of the EW community, now it is gone, I knew most of the EW community when planning Ilthilien for the RP server)

2. I am pretty sure it won't be the same again. But does it have to be? Perhaps instead of trying to recreate that experience we could find something better. There were numerous flaws with the implementation of the server (NPCs really necessary? RP does not have to have quests? Strict RP or relaxed RP) and the factions in it (Blackfyre was too stubborn in some cases, Ilthilien was too disorganised, Kargeth wasn't that organised either). To sum it up it is impossible to recreate that experience, but if it does reopen the goal is to make it into something better. In short a new start.
 
1. We have told you the problems, that's why I didn't mention them in that post. And we have figure out a way to solve the problems. And that involves letting us finish what we started, and not let us get side tracked. Your posts have made us consider re opening the rp server again, and yes we do want to re open it again. Isn't that enough? You will not get the rp server back asap, because it's going to take time.
And we can't just drop our current projects because a group of people want something else, that's simply unprofessional and dumb.

2. Yes ofc it won't be the same, that's what I said in my post. And then re creating rp and making it better? yes ofc that's what we're going todo if we re create the rp server. But with that, it just proves my point above stronger. We'll need to spent time and effort to re create the server, time and effort we need for our current projects.
