While I would love to see another attempt at a role-play server (which I could officially contribute to), I read over the forums everyday and come upon similar threads concerning role-play. The biggest driving factor for it at the moment seems to be the "sheer number" of players who want it. Yet, unfortunately, that isn't actually true. What we have here is a group of players, a very select group if I may add, that have convinced others to come to the forums and vote in favour of this. Ultimately, I don't think this server (at the moment) as enough players interested and who can actually commit to playing on a role-play server.
Personally, what I would do is take a step back and look at the big picture. I have some experience with hardcore role-play servers, and I can say comfortably that this time of year isn't a proper time to introduce one. I'd say a role-play forum (I know, that's been suggested) that was set upon themes that the server would tread with would be more beneficial for the players and staff. I'm not in charge, so I can't say if it's a yes or no, but I'd only ever introduce a role-play server in late June.
Now, please don't get me wrong. I'm devoted to the idea of a role-play server with Empire War. The true Empire War, for me, is the role-play server from long ago. I was made a moderator there, I shared some great experiences there with veteran players, and I thought overall the simplicity made it great. I just think this role-play server idea needs to be dropped for the next couple of months (trust me, it's annoying for the staff to come to the forums everyday and come upon the same hashtags) and resume the idea later on when a commitment can be made.
I'd also advise to tone down the use of hashtags. It's all fun and games, I know, but please don't go crazy and get carried away with them. We want to respect the wishes of others on here and have a clean forum that new players will want to come to and share their opinions and thoughts.

1. The problem is not financial.
2. There's no point trying to convince people like Akam to think differently, because they're to uncompromised. He and other people are going to keep asking for rp back, and when it returns they're probably gonna realize that you can't just re create the same experience again. Just like I can't re create the same amazing experience I had when I started playing minecraft at 1.3 beta. Sure I can downgrade and play it again, but it will never ever be the same.
I'm still on board for a veteran only role-play server with those memorable OP skeletons.
