Spawnkilling?

, the "spawnkiller" is camping outside spawn. I have done this countless times myself, and from all other moderators that have commented it, I've heard it's allowed, since you technically don't spawnkill (the player has time to spawn and get rid of lag) and there's even a second exit from the spawn.

Which is right and which is wrong? If you aren't allowed the spawncamp, please put that in the rules and make sure that all users get notified about this change, since this and similar things happen on many maps (siege towers on Minas Tirith for example).

You should put "Spawncamping is not allowed" in the rules anyway, since neither the rules on the website or the rules in the in-game book says that it's not allowed.
 
Spawncamping is not allowed, I have tried to press to get that in but in all due respect, Sjoerdtim just hasn't done it.

But it isn't a rule, so technically he didn't break any rules, therefore should be unbanned. And the person, who reported, could have taken another exit, there's about 4 different exits from the dwarven spawn.
 
You could actually never enforce this rule. Where does the line between spawncamping and just killing go? What is actually the difference between killing someone five blocks from their spawn and 20 blocks away? Technically, just the distance. Gondor troops on the wall on Minas Tirith? Spawncampers. Mordor troops on the bridge of Minas Morgul? Spawncampers. Goblins at stairs flag in Great Halls? Spawncampers. Ents in Orthanc? Spawncampers. Believe me, if you tried to enforce this, you would ban loads of people, me and many other people who thought they knew the rules included. I might have actually told the guy you banned that what he was doing is allowed. I might have done it alongside him and five other people once, laughing at the people calling me spawnkiller.

Also note that your word goes against the words of all other staff members' that have expressed themselves on the matter.

Tim hardly ever enforces any rules.
 
whats so hard about making it a rule. cant you do it titan? or are you going to have to convince sjoerdtim to let you. if you know how i think you have the power to.
 
It is a unspoken rule, and I have stated several times in chat that it needs to be added to the forum. I dont have the ability to edit rules on the forum, that is Admin only.

It is very easy to tell when a player is spawncamping or not, the staff has certain lines drawn for spawncamping.

Anrza, I call your remark uncalled for, Sjoerdtim does a very good job with enforcing the rules, he is after all. The OWNER of the server, the last time I checked. He just sometimes is very slow to just change stuff because he is busy with either day to day life. (Please remember that Minecraft is a game and the staff have lives to live outside of this server) OR he is busy working on things for the server and it isn't exactly on his priority list. Like right now, his focus is only on updating the server. All other projects are not of importance till that is done. He is only 1 man and is doing his best.

Please also remember that each staff member is different and we sometimes have different views, but all still focused on the same goal. So far with enforcing rules in the server, every staff member has had the entire support of their teammates. If is against what Sjoerdtim wants or a staff member is in doubt, it is brought up in the staff chat and we discuss it. If I am ever in error with what the staff wants, I know I can bring it up with Sjoerdtim or he will talk with me. Which hasn't happened yet with anything I have done, besides your incident. Which I supported his ruling on that.

i am confused are you guys scared to ask the community for help or something. why not have more then 1 person. if sjoerdtim cant manage tinny stuff like this maybe you should consider getting more active admins. your right i used the wrong wording on my post. you need anzra or atleast someone else.

you claim its not a matter of should its a matter of need. and then use excuses like this. i think i am starting to see it anzra's way

Oh, good. It's a shame we people who has to follow the rules don't have any idea where the lines are drawn.

No, when he's online, he might tell someone that's swearing or talking non-english to stop, but other than that, I can't recall seeing him do anything for the 18 months I've been on the server.

That's fine, this isn't "staff's getting lazy"-thread. I get what you're saying in his defense, it's valid arguments, I respect them, but don't pretend like he's actively enforcing the rules, because he definitely isn't.

Well, what you're doing right now seems to go against everything that I've heard, so it no only has happened, but is happening.

Wait, this server has admins?! WHAT?! I have honestly never seen an admin on this server the entire time I've been playing here, which isn't that long of a time but... well anyway.
 
True, it was my fault for getting myself involved in this, steering the conversation away from the discussion. I apologize for that.

Anrza you are entitled to your own thinking.
 
Alright, then please give all players access to these lines you spoke of, so we can follow them, because now, I have no idea what's allowed and not, since you banned someone for doing something that I do dozens, maybe hundreds of times every day I play.

Also, I don't think you should enforce this without warning the players first. A 36h ban is pretty long for something that they didn't know was disallowed.
 
Actually, according to these rules here(under ''Rules''), spawnkilling is allowed as well, since it doesn't say anything about it.
 
Actually, you shouldn't be enforcing this at all until it's added to the rules, since it is not quite against common minecraft sense, it's completely logical that you should be allowed to do this.

The only admins of the servers are me, diony (a friend who isn't active, but who basically started the server with me) and lockrules, who does most of the big scale building and not in game moderation.
