VENTURES INTO THE REMOTE (RP)

((Time bubble))
Daugo's face soured a little. "I'm a hobbit, a halfling. Whole different thing entirely." He looked at the both of them sweetly. "How long have you known each other?"
[rule]
Daugo was flattered that so many people should be willing to die for him. "Look, Card, the more people come with us, the better our chances of keeping the Karoltai within us if and when one of us dies."

"But the time it'll take to reach mordor.. Plus we can't alert morgoth that we're there, two karoltai is a lot more natural in Mordor than a small army of men and elves." Card replied.

Ha'zi didn't take notice of the hobbit's sour expression and replied to him, "I think about 2 weeks or so. We've only just arrived here."

Sigeric nodded, and walked up onto the stage. He turned towards the seats of the massive amphitheater, filled by throngs of Gondorians, Elves, and his fellow shifters. He felt a strange sense of belonging as he adjusted his posture and began to speak in a voice that carried an inflection of authority.

"As I said, knowing the appearances and functions of each of our giants could be the difference between life and death on this expedition. We shifters don't want to be mistaken for enemies, and the rest of you don't want to be caught off guard by one of Morgoth's giants."

"First, we have the Warrior Giant, controlled by our friend Ha'zi. The Warrior is a 15 meter tall humanoid with dark hair. It appears fairly mundane compared to the others, but can mimic our abilities."

"The Hybrid Giant is controlled by Cardiloc, and might be somewhat harder to identify. It can transform into a large version of practically any animal. Even a mixture of various creatures, as his name implies. If he turns into a Dragon, you might have a difficult time telling whether he is a friend or a foe. Cardiloc, I recommend that you find a way to signal this to our allies, perhaps by color."

"The Flying Giant appears as a large bat, and its form is taken by Iver, the Dalishman who just left the amphitheater." Sigeric said, recalling the death of Erland with a pang of guilt. He continued, forbidding it to break his composure. "Bats are often associated with evil, but this particular one is on our side. Its screeches can be disconcerting to both friend and foe, so prepare your ears."

"The Dwarf Giant, controlled by Dimitri, has a very distinct visage. It stands at six meters tall, and is usually hunched over on all fours. It possesses incredibly strong facial armour and quite intimidating jaws, which it can utilize to burrow into the ground or use for more gruesome purposes. When speaking, the Dwarf Giant has a thick accent that sounds similar to its namesake."

"The Elemental Giant, controlled by Thoruk, is shorter and leaner than the other humanoids, standing at 12 meters. It has a brown beard and long brown hair. Its power is the manipulation of the elements: Fire, water, earth, wind, and thunder.

"I, Sigeric of Redhaven, take the form of the Guardian Giant. It stands at 15 meters, though somewhat leaner than the other giants, and its face is partially concealed by armour. It has the power to conjure weapons and armour, but is practically immobile."

"The last giant among us is the Behemoth, controlled by Daugo Burgins. You will know it when you see it. It matters not whether it is friend or foe. If you are anywhere nearby when he transforms, you will be burned to cinders. In the event that the Behemoth must be deployed, stay away."

"Additionally, one of the eight shifters is missing. The Destroyer Giant stands at 15 meters tall, with muscular arms and a white beard. It is controlled by a Dwarf named either Grimnir or Grombrindal. He never was able to decide. His whereabouts are unknown, and we are unlikely to find him in Mordor."

Sigeric paused for a while, allowing the soldiers and lieutenants to take in the information. "Are there any questions?"

Miriel looked off into the distance for a moment as she thought, "Nearly a dozen days, I suppose. Why?" She asked, inquisitively.

--------------

A barrage of questions were hauled at Sigeric.

"Why is the dwarf called the dwarf yet its held by a huge man?"

"How does the Elemental control such things?"

"What makes your Giant immobile? Does it lack legs?"

"Why is one of the Giants missing? Doesn't this weaken our chances against Morgoth? Is this person irresponsible or did they legitimately disappear?"

"What'll happen if the Behemoth is deployed?"

"How do we slay a Giant? You mentioned that there was a Giant working for the Enemy, right? How do we kill it?"

"In the case that you need to transform, what are the necessary precautions?"

Crandil stood back and let Sigeric have his day of fame.

Iver found the toilets. They were out in a utility area and the privies were quite well cleaned compared to Dale's public ones which were filled with gutter-shit.

Cardiloc would have to walk up to the stage. The officer was standing to the side whilst Sigeric spoke about the Karoltai.

Crandil saw him and pulled the Dunlending aside, "What are you doing?" Cardiloc was breaking protocol.

12700073

He took the boy backstage through an entryway and into a hallway.

"What is it?"

12700073

"Another expedition" Iver said and sat down. After he was done he stayed there, sitting and thinking.
What chance did they have? He, Thoruk and Sigric couldnt defeat those new monsters sent by Morgoth. From what his father told him the entire world almost lost a war against Sauron, which probs is back and ready to beat them up. Eonwe is gone, they dong have the support of the Valar and every day that pass makes morgoth stronger.
"Dammit, no one can help us now" He said before he took another sip of his Vodka, it was named "Smaug's breath" and Iver understood why. He then felt something new, something he never felt before. If the Valar are real, Illuvitar must be real as well and who knows, maybe he listen to prayers.
"Illuvitar, creator of worlds, I know I never prayed earlier and to be fair i dont know how this thing work but please give your children strength to defend themselves" He whispered with closed eyes.

Silence descended on Iver as he sat on the shitter and he felt something strange come to light inside him. A burning feeling. As if something had been unleashed. It was coming, he could feel it....

SPLOOOOSSHHH

He shat diarrhea like there was no tomorrow. All that food he had eaten, it wasn't sitting good with his stomach, especially not with 'Smaug's breath' mixed in.

14628767

"About the expedition, we need to maintain secrecy and we also need to give Morgoth as little time to prepare as possible. It's likely he doesn't know that the free people's, especially Gondor is informed of his return. We must use what little time we have, instead what I suggest Gondor does is gather the full strength of Middle Earth to march on the black gate." The man reasoned with the captain.

Oh god it felt good. Now, clear from the inside, and after all of it went from the right hole Iver wiped his ass. Was it the end though?
If so, he would wipe his ass till it was clean, get up and put his pants on. It was a good, yet bad thing to pray to Illuvitar, rather dangerous.

Crandil shook his head, "It'll take months to raise the full might of Gondor and march to the Morannon, boy. We don't even know if Morgoth is in Mordor. That's the entire point of this expedition. To gather intelligence and if possible, proof for the nations of Middle-Earth. Do you understand? I am sorry for demeaning you earlier and recognize you are young but you need to listen to the orders of your elders and superiors."

12700073

-------------

Indeed, dangerous it was. The last time Illuvitar's name had been mentioned aloud to the world was when Ilmare had unleashed Morgoth.

Iver saw that the meeting was still going on in the House of Orders. He felt free of all internal waste at this point.

14628767

"Alright, now go along," He said, giving the boy some room to breathe and smiling a bit, "I expect you up and at the front of the expedition come dawn. Can I count on you?"

12700073

Sigeric attempted to answer as many questions as possible.

"The Dwarf is called the Dwarf because we didn't name the damn things. Next?"

"I don't know how the Elemental does it, but it's quite useful. Magic, I suppose."

"The Guardian has legs, but it is partially attached to the ground, and cannot walk very far."

"Grimnir the shifter in question, is most certainly irresponsible. He disappeared after our last meeting at Rivendell. his absence may lower our odds of success, but hopefully he won't be necessary."

"If the Behemoth is deployed, a wave of fire will decimate anything within a kilometer or two. We will ensure that no allies are nearby if he needs to transform."

"Good question. To slay a Giant, one would need to pull the shifter out of its body. When a shifter transforms, they remain inside the giant, usually in the nape of the neck. If one can successfully extract the shifter, they can be killed with a lethal blow. Decapitation or stabbing through the heart is the most effective method. Afterwards, the Giant's power will transfer to the closest living Man or Dwarf. It does not effect Elves, for reasons I cannot explain."

"A shifter can only transform when they are physically injured and have a clear goal in mind. Usually, in order to transform, we make sure that no allies are nearby, then injure ourselves, or make use of an existing injury. Don't worry, we won't transform against our will if we are hurt; We have control over it."

Sigeric looked towards Zaro, to answer his question next. "As far as we know, only the Behemoth burns its surroundings when transforming. The rest release a wave of force that is still highly destructive. The power of the blast usually scales to the size of the giant."
