VENTURES INTO THE REMOTE (RP)

"Yeah, I'm coming now." He gets up to leave with his plate, then decides to grab some leftovers and put them on his plate, too. Ha'zi then turns to her and asks, "Do you want anything? I can put some food on a plate for you if you're still hungry." 12253360

"Oh," Miriel was surprised by his kindness. Cardiloc had mostly run over him throughout their journey and Ha'zi had seemed the quiet one, ironic since he's supposedly the Warrior Giant. This was a new side to him.
"No thanks. I'm okay. Well, maybe just one of those," She gestured towards one of the chocolate covered strawberries.

The procession of elves and men lead Iver down to the Citadel-gate and through a tunnel until they emerged into daylight on the sixth level of Minas Tirith. It was less crowded than the Citadel and larger. Iver found himself dragged along into a large mansion-like house with a stadium-like room that had seats lined up in rows from top to bottom. It was much like the amphitheater at the Trickster's Mansion.

Celeborn was at the front with Glorfindel and a couple others who seemed to be men in armor, they were discussing something whilst the elves began to sit in the back rows.
"Take a seat at the front, you're an honorable guest, Karoltai," Elladan said to him rather blankly before sitting with his own regiment in the back.

There were about a thousand seats in this place. It was massive and Iver saw it would be many steps before he reached the bottom. Dimitri was also ushered in towards the lower section and settled down in a chair at the front. He had his food all to himself here.

Daugo popped into the dining hall shortly after Iver, but saw everyone starting to leave it. A quick glance around revealed where the people he knew were; and he grinned wickedly when he saw Ha'zi flirting. Wading through the crowds and benches, he tried to get closer to the Haradrim kid.

"Lady...?" Cardiloc raised a brow at Dimitri's use of the word, his sister was a mere commoner not anyone of significant prestige. "Thank you... Dimitri." He gave a nod hesitantly, his mind thinking back to the way DImitri's hand had shifted almost. The Dunlending's thoughts were interrupted as the dessert poured in, his eyes went wide and a grin formed on his face.

Quickly, Card reached for the nearest tankard and filled it full of ale; grabbing a chunk of cake in his fist he stuffed himself and washed it all down with the ale. "Good stuff..." He burped loudly, he then noticed Miriel had left and shrugged, she was probably processing what had happened today. The Dunlending raised his half empty tankard at the elf's comment about eaitng like king's. "Hurrah!" He roared loudly, downing half a pint of ale.

When Celeborn spoke at last, the Dunlending clapped in approval. "Hear! Hear!" He shouted out at the speech, wiping the cake crumbs off his mouth and attempting to clean up any splashes of ale with his hands he turned his head to Ela. "Where else would we go, c'mon sis." He jogged to catch up with Dimitri, still unsure about his recent kindness.

As Iver asked them to walk inside Thoruk shows no interest in listening to their speeches again. He keeps on eating. "Ya don't wonna go in aswell?" he asks Daugo as he takes a sip of his mug.

"Okay." Ha'zi grabs a few more strawberries for Miriel and puts them on a small plate for her. He pushes in his chair and is about to leave when he notices Daugo coming near them, grinning weirdly, heading straight for Ha'zi. "Oh, uh, hi Daugo, how are you?" He says and waves nervously to the hobbit.

Iver decided to sit somewhere in the middle, where he could talk while the rest wont hear him. He placed his plate on hislegs and kept eating whats left from his meal. After a while and when no one was looking, he picked a bottle of alcohol he took from his house. His father kept it with a note saying "very strong" and Iver decided that its the best time to check how strong it is. He poured some of it into his mug, it looked like water, and he drank it. Damm, it tasted like shit.

Zaro whispered something in his two lieutenants ears over the loud conversation around them. He then quickly told them what they will do when they get to Mordor.

Dimitri swiftly and cleanly finished his meal, and placed his plate on a place where it was out of the way. "Aight, now I'm ready." Dimitri said, wiping a few crumbs off his mouth and sipping from a glass of fine Dorwinion wine. Though he did adore ale, wine and finer spirits also held a special place in his alcohol-soaked soul.

((Time-bubble any events before this, lads.))

Eventually a thousand people had piled into the room. The majority were members of the Gondorian Cavalry Regiment who would be joining them. Then there were the three hundred and twenty-two elves. Lastly were the military officials, lords and shifters who sat at the front of the House of Orders. All the shifters and their friends including Ela, Marco and Miriel had sat down and were ready for the tactical brief.

A man was on stage, obviously a high ranking military official from Gondor by the looks. He had the makings of a Numenorean, tall, dark haired and fair skinned. He pushed up a map of Mordor onto the stage and picked up a thin stick pointer, turned to the crowd and addressed them.

"Welcome. Elves, Men and Dwarves, ladies and gentlemen. My name is Crandil and I shall be briefing you on the strategic plan in locating Morgoth and dispensing of him." He paused and went on.

"As you know, we have high reason to believe Morgoth has taken up residence in the Land of Shadow. But in order to muster our forces in order to face him in battle, we need proper details: information of his powers, intel on his military might, furthermore his precise location. To gain such details we must send in an investigation unit to scour Mordor for any trace of him. That unit," he addressed them all, "Is you. All of you will be taking part in the hunt for Morgoth."

"Tomorrow the expedition shall set out at dawn from the Pelennor Fields. Lord Celeborn shall be leading the vanguard which shall consist of the three elven regiments under Captains: Elladan, Elrohir and Zaro; as well as the Giants. The flanks shall be covered by the Gondorian Cavalry Regiment lead by myself. This shall consist of a hundred and fifty men on each flank. The rear and mid-guards shall contain the bulk of the force. Four hundred Gondorian cavalry, the majority of our archers will be in this group." He continued, pointing to the map with the thin stick on the spot that stated 'Minas Tirith'.

"From the Pelennor Fields, we shall journey out to the east-gate of the Rammas Echor and out towards Osgiliath. There we shall cross the river Anduin on the great bridge and land in Ithilien, taking the crossroads north on the Ithilien road towards the ruins of the Black Gate. This entire journey will take a predicted five days on horseback if we account for camping time in between. Upon reaching the Morannon area, we shall enter the Valley of Udun which leads into the rest of Mordor. The flanks and vanguard units shall send out scouts to take up a long-ranged scouting formation in order to alert us of threats or possible sightings. Once the Udun is cleared, we shall ride out into the Plateau of Gorgoroth where the ruins of Sauron's realm lay. The scouting formation will triple at this point in order to cover ground. The main group shall consist of Lord Celeborn's retinue, the shifters, the reserves in the main-guard and rear-guard as well as a third of the flank-guard. The three elven regiments in the Vanguard along with the majority of the flank-guard shall spread out from the main force." He dragged the stick along their route of travel.

"The forces will travel south over the Plateau until we hit the Lithlad section near the Sea of Nurn. The main force shall divide into two. One group rides down the southern side of the sea and the other takes the northern side. This journey in Mordor will take between one to two months depending on how difficult the terrain is to navigate. Supply caravans shall reinforce us when we leave the Plateau of Gorgoroth, they will arrive outside the Pass of Cirith Ungol. Horses cannot navigate the rocky areas of the Ash Mountains and so we cannot obviously go through that passageway. The supplies must be collected from the passageway by the reserve groups and sent ahead to the vanguard and flank-guard. Once all of Mordor has been securely searched, with the aid of the horses and, I am told, the aerial support of the Giants." He paused.

"Do any of you have questions?"

"What can we expect in terms of resistance? Do we know how the terrain of Mordor has changed since the fall of Sauron? Do we even know if Morgoth is in Mordor? And lastly, what if Morgoth attacks the world while we are gone? What do we do?" Dimitri asks.

"Will, um, any Gondor-controlled territories help later in time? Like Harad?" Ha'zi speaks, nervous to address someone in a room with thousands of people.

Crandil looked at Dimitri. One of the shifters. He definitely was not part of the Cavalry Regiment.

"We don't know. It could be anything from an army of orcs to an arsenal of dragons. Expect anything. The only way for us to know is to send in the scouts. The terrain is rather the same. The last investigation into Mordor occurred over a year ago and they confirmed that the land is parched and rocky. Mount Doom is mostly destroyed after its volcanic eruption, the Tower of Sauron fell and was destroyed, so did the Black Gate, and most buildings. And no, we don't know if Morgoth is in Mordor. He may well be in the blasted colds of the Frodowaith for all we know. But we have to check nonetheless. If it is the case he is not in Mordor, then King Elessar shall host a meeting with all leaders of Middle-Earth in order to warn them and gain their cooperation in locating Morgoth. And if Morgoth attacks whilst we are on the expedition, I expect the Reunited Kingdom to fare well. We are only a few and the full might of Gondor and Arnor would crush anything Morgoth could raise."

He turned to Ha'zi. What was a dark-skinned boy doing in here?
"Unlikely. The cooperation of such territories is made impossible by the mountains that surround Mordor, thus making it an impenetrable geographic fortress."

He then addressed the elf in the back, "In the Udun, very few, but once we hit Gorgoroth many. Between a hundred men need to cover a hundred miles. One man per mile. Each scout shall be given a firework to set off in the case that they spot anything. Green fireworks for a clear area, red for an enemy encounter, and black for anything out of the ordinary."

"The full might of Gondor and Arnor can stand against millions of orcs, countless Maia of great power, dragons, and worse? Truly these are great days, then. Every man here must be a super-soldier capable of butchering thousands on their own."

Crandil's eyes narrowed on Dimitri.

"We don't expect there to be millions of orcs, countless Maia, dragons and worse. Not in the time limit that has been described to us. However, we're working with very little information in the first place. If Morgoth does strike first, then the suppliers from Cirith Ungol shall notify the reserves who in turn will pass it down the line to Celeborn and myself, we shall then end the investigation and ride back to the Morannon and out into Ithilien until we return to the area of assault and combat Morgoth." He hoped that would satisfy the man.

8861015

"Well, why do you think Gondor can fight off everything? Morgoth is back, and from what I've heard, his lesser friend Sauron ravaged this place and Middle Earth. I mean, we have powers of failed experiments. And we have devastating powers. What about his other experiments? What if he has more? You need more people to march in for this, rally armies from other nations. Morgoth can, and probably will, destroy us easily if he has anything similar to us Karolatai."
