VENTURES INTO THE REMOTE (RP)

Mairon was absolutely taken aback by this gesture. He had known that he held a special place in Melkor's heart--he had, after all, sacrificed himself to save him--but he had never known the Vala to express love in such a Mannish way. Oddly enough, it felt right.

He returned the embrace, trying to keep tears from forming. "I thought I'd lost th--you, my lord, I thought that that bastard Tulkas had slain you once and for all... It was an unbearable thought," he said, attempting to keep it together despite the fact that he had tossed aside any formality.

"Him," An Ithilien Ranger puffed some smoke whilst motioning towards Celeborn, who was kneeling in prayer before a grave of some sorts. It was freshly dug.

Melkor held him for a moment in silence before finally addressing him, "I will always be by your side, Mairon." Then he ended their moment and moved apart. For a millisecond he could have sworn Melkor's frown had disappeared but it returned, almost naturally, to his face.

"I am in your debt, Mairon Urion. I forever shall be. Your counsel has been invaluable and you are vital to me." The words came slowly almost as if thought with absolute precision before being said. Each finalizing with a slight chill as his voice became more confident.

Iver waited for the elf to finish before approaching him "I have some information that you could use, the outcome of this clash is not a total failure

"And what may that be, Iver?" Celeborn asked, looking up at the Dalishman.

14628767

"Remember those enemy giants? They are no longer under morgoth's control. None of them truly wanted to serve morgoth and they lived as prisoners, he forced them to fight for him and when the battle raged i helped them all escape his prison. None of them wants to fight and their plan currently is to go and live somewhere, they are not sure for themselves where" Iver said

"How is that news pertaining to this not being a failure?" Celeborn asked, "Now there are more servants of Morgoth on the loose. Imagine the catastrophic damage a single one could cause should they see fit to torment the lives of those peaceful folk in Middle-Earth. What would happen if the Armoured Giant stampeded through East Lorien? What if that traitor, Miriel, began a campaign to destroy the dwarves? What then? Whilst Morgoth rallies his might in the East to crush us?"

14628767

Dimitri shrugged off the notion, feeling some sadness but quickly overwhelming it with a prayer of Tulkas.

-------------------------------------

"What's behind there, lads?"

"Well, they dont plan on doing so my friend. And just to calm you down i plan on following them and possibly ask them to join us, they hate morgoth almost as much as we do"

Tulkas was dead. It made sense now, why they had been routed so suddenly. Sigeric noticed both Thoruk and Cardiloc, the latter still carrying Marco. Why were they following him around, like a pack of lost puppies? Ignoring them for the moment, he responded to Eonwe. "We all failed. You should bear no more of that burden than the rest of us. Dying alongside Tulkas's Champions might seem heroic, but what would it accomplish? It is far more valiant to live to see another day, at the dawn of which one might rise again and finish the task that he began. You saved my life on the island, and I cannot allow that debt to go unpaid. I cannot allow you to surrender to hopeless and despair. You must press on, and work to make things right through the only means possible. The defeat of Morgoth. As for Mairon: He is your brother. If I had been in your position, and it was my own brother, I know the choice I would have made."

Celeborn just shook his head in reply, seemingly absent.

"Flyer, you realize the Warrior attempted to eat Lord Cele-"

"Quiet you," Karstir shoved Harros, interrupting him.

"Iver. They are servants of Morgoth. This may well be a plan to gain sympathy from us and divide our ranks. We're already as divided as we are. The goal now is to return to King Aragorn with the report of this mission. We succeeded in locating Morgoth and lost over ninety-five percent of our contingent in the process. One of the Enemy Karoltai was captured and is apparently now an allied member. There are some gains in the face of this tragedy. But I do not want to lose you to some servants of Morgoth who cannot be trusted."

Meanwhile, Eönwë responded, "No, Sigeric. You don't understand. It's not just that I failed since the island. It's that I have been a failure throughout my entire existence. I held no great deeds during any of the wars, though, I may have been the most skilled in arms, I slew no Balrogs, no Dragons, no Vampires, no Werewolves, none of my brethren. I refused to fight out of honor. And because of that, I allowed so many others to die. I could barely bring myself to chain Morgoth with againor and I may have retrieved the last two Silmarils, yet, I allowed for the Sons of Feanor to steal them from under my very own nose and slew my companions. As a result of this, more division and strife continued amongst the Noldor. But these were nothing compared to my largest mistake." He swallowed.

"I could have ended it all. Mai-Sauron came to me after the War of Wrath and presented himself as a willing subject to my judgement. I refused to judge him, as that was Manwe's occupation as the Elder King, and allowed him to escape; that singular choice led to the deaths of billions over the course of the Second and Third Ages. I am the most incompetent of all the Maia. I allowed Sauron to escape then and once more, I allowed him to escape now. I am a coward, Sigeric. I could not bring myself to even kill Pyrus. Let alone Melkor. I even tried to plead for my brother! What a fool was I?!"

It was clear to Sigeric, and to Cardiloc and Thoruk who hounded the Dalishman, that Eönwë was at some sort of breaking point.

Niether of the Sentinels answered. They stood upright, silent and kept their spears in hand, unwavering in the face of the tiny Maia.

Iver opened his mouth and said "Very well, i believe one thing and you believe in another thing. However i must say that from my point of view you are letting emotions to take over your judgment. Ive been taken into his castle once and im here with you and im alive, im terrible at fighting as you might see, but im fast and can fly. I promise you this, if you let me go ill be back in under 3 weeks and you will not hear about the enemy giants in the connection of fighting against uor troops or allies"

Ha'zi remains unresponsive, and leans against a tree, staring up at the sky in silence. like the edgy teen he is 13527980

Daugo sighed and regarded the boy. He looked weary, weighed down by burdens that no one should have to carry, let alone someone so young. It was one more tragedy amidst the sea of tragedies that had befallen them since... since they all met.

He turned towards Joplin's body. "Are we going to give him a proper burial?" he asked the Haradrim.

Mairon inclined his head at the praise. He knew he deserved it.

"Everything I am, I owe to thee," he said, falling back into old patterns of speech. "My debt towards thee runs far deeper." He paused. "I must ask; how art thou doing, my liege? We were both heavily taxed by the battle."

He gave the hobbit a weak smile. "I'd like to, of course, although I'm not that handy at the moment, quite literally, heh. But I'll see what I can do." Ha'zi walks over to the corpse of the unburied shifter. 13527980

Daugo hadn't really registered that Celeborn was not the only one missing an extremity. "Hah, shit. This is all shit. Why haven't your arms grown back, though?" he said as he walked over to Joplin's cadaver.

Mirecyla would be extremely confused, thinking that she had just saw Yellenda walking around the camp, shrugging it off she went to go to Tytus.

Shrugging, Ha'zi replied. "Dunno, maybe I'm too exhausted? That fight with Miriel drained me quite a bit." 13527980

Sigeric shook his head. "Millions of choices from millions of individuals have shaped the course of history, for better or for worse." He paused, his expression hardening. "When I returned to Dale, I made one such choice. A single decision, made in a split second, led to the destruction of the Royal Palace and the death of the King. Do you know why I did not give in to despair? Because I knew that it was not too late to change my legacy. I took those feelings of self-loathing, and redirected them towards the Dark Lord. Thus, my conviction was only strengthened. You failed in the past, Eonwe. That cannot be changed. You can choose to either dwell on those mistakes, or to forgive yourself, and vow to secure Middle-Earth's future." Sigeric paused again. "And let it not be said that you are a coward. I watched you give your life for me at Aldamos. Manwe saw us as expendable, but you had the courage to disobey your master and stand beside your beliefs. Were those truly the actions of a coward?" He asked rhetorically, looking towards Thoruk and Cardiloc. "I think not."

"Well, that's a damn shame. Hopefully you won't stay that way for long," he replied, looking around for a shovel or something to dig a hole with.

"Yeah, hopefully..." Ha'zi moves some rocks off of Joplin. "Hey, Daugo... I know that I'm probably annoying the heck out of you, but I want to ask you one more thing. Do you think it's.. it's wrong that I kinda feel bad for these new shifters?" 13527980
