VENTURES INTO THE REMOTE (RP)

"I guess ill have to take command now" Vlad said picking Iver and shouting to the rest of the group "Run, save yourself. Go as far as you can and hide" He shouted as he carried the broken man away from the portal.

Sigeric woke up, witnessing the events that were unfolding. He rose numbly to his feet, filled with despair. What had they done?! He had been right all along not to trust Ilmare. She had betrayed them all. A cold rage filled him as he gripped the Maiar Blade, its edge glinting with the dark light of the expanding void. Sigeric stepped forward towards the unsuspecting Maia, and plunged the blade deep into her heart. He stumbled backwards, away from the growing darkness, and ran inland, away from the beach.

Ilmare spasmed for a moment, her hands clutching her back as she held the Maiar blade for but a moment and turned around to see Sigeric who had stabbed her. They watched as she twitched before her eyes and mouth began to exude a bright light as she screamed in agony, falling back into the opening void and disappearing in the thick darkness.

"Free at last."

The voice came from the pit. They all heard it. The darkness. The black void as it expanded. The shadows engulfed them, even Dimitri who had run the farthest and swallowed them all. The thunder, the storm, the screams of Ilmare, the deafening sound of the void, everything went blank. Then-

Light.

---------------------------

Then they awoke.

Dimitri, Sigeric, Ha'zi, Cardiloc, Daugo, Grimnir, Iver, Thoruk, Marco, Sam, Silesia and Pyrus all awoke on the wooden floor of a house. Their bodies were fully healed, their haunting memories fresh. They had just witnessed the lifetimes of the previous shifters and watched as they freed Morgoth, the Dark Lord, the Black Enemy, the Creator of all Evil in the World. They had been betrayed by Ilmare and she had been killed by Sigeric. They saw how Manwe, had attempted to strike them down, especially his assassination attempt on Dimitri. The Valar want them dead, they just released Morgoth, and now they were here. And where exactly was here? The room was clear except for-

"Get up." A tall, well-groomed man said, standing above them.

Dimitri rose, warhammer in hand, and looked around. Everything seemed normal, but after his encounter with the Great Darkness himself, he was suspicious. His faith in the West was forever shaken, aside from belief in ever glorious Tulkas, and now he worshipped only Tulkas and served only one: the people of Middle-Earth. "Who are you?" he asks.

Iver was broken completly, he killed a man who tried to stom malkor from getting free and then freed him himself. Illmare betrayed him, his skull got broken, he fought the wrong maia and he is not dead even though malkor is free. He sobbed as he looked up at the man talked to them.

After a few moments the migthy dwarf needed to stand up, he takes his axe up from the ground aswell, attaches it onto his back. "If he'd wanted us dead we would be already, so no need for my migthy axe to get some action" he addes in mind as he looks around "What have I just witnessed?" he thinks as he sees no darkness, no Maia, no gods speaking up from the clouds, nothing. "Aye, tell me lad, who are you and where are we?"

Dimitri must have still been disorientated. He was staring at the first celestial being he had first seen. Eonwe.

"Well, I don't know how I'm alive. I just know that I am. I also know that you lot have destroyed Arda and started the End of Days. According to my knowledge, we are all within an inn at Bree and below us," Eonwe kicked the wooden floor, "Is the Prancing Pony. This is the first year of the Fourth Age of Arda."

There was one window and they could all see it was night outside and the moon was high in the sky.

Sigeric stood up, taking in his surroundings. He felt as if he had aged several years in the past few months, but he knew that he was alive. He took in what Eonwe had said, barely surprised that the being was still alive. He gave a humorless smile at the mention of the Prancing Pony. How ironic that they would end up back here. "The Fourth Age? The last time I was here, I believe that it was the Third..."

Daugo blinks in shock as the weight of it all just begins to sink in. The memories of Andreth's life were embedded into his mind now, and he had an intense feeling of déjà vu.

He looks around again. Everything seems normal. The Prancing Pony looks, perhaps, a bit cleaner than usual, but maybe Barliman had finally gone and given it a good scrub.

Daugo. Andreth. Daugo. Andreth. What defines a person more than memories? Personality, perhaps? And if two likeminded individuals share the same memories; how much individuality remains? Where does Andreth start and Daugo end, or vice-versa? Was Daugo still himself, if memories can change people, or was he something else altoghether?

"I'm sick of all this bullshit. Goodbye, Eonwë, we--I'm going to see my children," he says, heading for the door.

All Pyrus saw was a flash of light, and then he was awake. Because of Ilmarë's spell, the Maia was still disoriented, but he heard and saw what happened around him. The void. The screams of the foolish shifters and slaves as they tried to run. Ilmarë, the traitorous scum, as she praised her Lord Melkor. He even heard Manwë himself. He must have freed me from that witch, he thought as he was flooded with relief. But then, a voice came. Pyrus was chilled to the bone. It couldn't have... No. It was. Him. "Melkor," Pyrus spat his name with hatred. The Maia finally stood up and faced Ilmarë, "You fool. DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE DONE??" Pyrus shouts, voice filled with anger. He pulls out his Maiar blade, and walks forward to the woman. "I shall have your h--" Suddenly, she falls into the void. "What the," is all Pyrus is able to say as the darkness suddenly floods the cave top....
------------
Pyrus awoke suddenly, with Maiar blade still in hand, and notices where he is. And with whom he is. He clutches the blade tightly, rises, and marches
to Eonwë, "You IDIOT," he bellows, "you and your accomplice have brought the end of days! Along with your friends here. Tell me, O Great Eonwë, why I shouldn't kill all of you right here, right now, for freeing our doom?" 12253360
-------------------
After Thoruk processed this information he replied gruffly to the Maia, "Aye, that's convenient. As well as a coincidence, arriving all the way back where we started." Then his mood darkens, "So, this Melkor fella is free, and it's another Age. But tell us, Maia, what exactly have we missed during our time gone from this land?" 12253360
-------------------------
Guilt. All the boy could feel now was guilt... and foolish. Ha'zi had given blood without even thinking, and now the world will pay for it. How could he be so stupid? Stupid to care and feel sorry for the wicked woman who tricked them all. Stupid as he and his friends slaughtered the people who were trying to stop the Dark Lord from being freed from Utumno. Stupid. Now.. where even are we? Bree? Ha'zi had heard some tales of traders of that place, but he and his family had never been here, or anywhere, really, other than Harad. He slowly got up and looked, surprised, as he saw a familiar face. "Eonwë? You're alive?"

Cardiloc shook his head, this was all, so, wrong. He hadn't ask for any of this, he had been thrusted into the power game between Morgoth and the Rest of the Valar. The dunlending needed answers from Eonwe fast. "How do we know you don't serve him?" He questioned Eonwe, referencing Morgoth.

Eonwe's eyes darkened as Pyrus and he stared each other down. Eonwe did not unsheath his weapons, unlike Pyrus.
"Because, I did not release Morgoth," Eonwe said clearly, "I had no intention of doing so. I had no part in Ilmare's designs. I was but a loyal soldier of Valinor, like you Pyrus, before I began to question the actions of the Valar. Once my material form was destroyed and my spirit returned to the Halls of Mandos I was reprimanded by Manwe and Ulmo, spat upon, then sentenced to the void for questions the orders of the Valar. Not even disobeying them. Questioning them. They put me in that dark black abyss where I wandered for years without light, without rest, without company, all because I had the gall to question my orders. I was branded a traitor. A dissident of Valinor. They said I had spent too much time around Mairon and that I had become corrupted. No, I was not corrupted, Pyrus. I was no longer accepting the immoral acts of the Valar. I was locked in that darkness for years until now. For some reason, I am freed. And surely, it could not be the Valar. It must be Eru himself. Now to answer your question, Pyrus," Eonwe said placing his hand on the Maia's shoulder.

"You should not kill us because we're all you have left. Valinor wants us dead. Morgoth will not hesitate to end us. And the world's fate is at stake. These, people," Eonwe said looking around the room, "Are our best chances at stopping Morgoth before he releases his most powerful allies. We can stop the Dagor Dagorath before it even begins. There's still a chance. So, I ask, put aside your grievances and let us slay Morgoth."

Eonwe turned to the rest of them and saw Daugo had left the room already.
"Cardiloc, I was not involved in Ilmare's deceptions. I had no stake in her plans. She deceived me, as well. You can imagine how that feels, to know your partner had been working for your enemy this entire time. I am fated to be one of the most threatening people to Morgoth. I do not serve Morgoth, and I do not serve the Valar. I serve Eru Illuvitar, the creator. I can only assume that it was he who released me from my bounds and placed myself here." He then addressed the room.

"It has been twenty years since you were here. The world has changed. A war occurred between the Dark Lord, Sauron and the Free Peoples of Middle-Earth. Sauron was defeated and the world continued. Gondor stands stronger than it was before with a new King, Erebor and Dale suffered from the wars but emerged victorious over Rhun. The Elves have forged new realms in Mirkwood and the Dwarven Clans have re-united. Harad and most of Rhun has been conquered by the Reunited Kingdom, or what was once Gondor, meanwhilst Rohan has conquered Dunland and defeated its peoples, who swore themselves to Saruman the White. Saruman aligned with Sauron and was recently slain. The world is in a better stage, however, the release of Morgoth tempts that all. He shall start by resurrecting his most loyal followers, Sauron and the Balrogs, then he will rebuild his armies to destroy the world. Unlike Sauron, he does not want complete dominion over Middle-Earth. He wants complete destruction of Arda. Middle-Earth shall be the stepping stone to the rest of the world. And the Valar don't care about Middle-Earth, they did not assist in the War of the Ring and only sent Maiar to support the Free Peoples. The Valar will want to fight Morgoth on their home ground, in Valinor. For that to happen, Morgoth will have to destroy the world, including your homes, your families, your friends and your lives. And we," he motioned to all of them, "Are the only ones who can stop him. So, I ask you, will you give your hearts and souls to preventing the apocalypse. Will you journey with me south to Mordor to stop Morgoth?" It was clear he was asking them and not commanding them.

They, like Daugo, had a choice. They could walk out or they could take up the mantle of defending Middle-Earth.

----------------------

Daugo found his way down the staircase. His head was jumbled with the thoughts and memories of Andreth as he felt his way out of the bar. He passed by Barliman Butterbur who seemed twenty years heavier and wider. The bartender didn't seem to take notice of him as he walked out of the Prancing Pony and into the streets of Bree.

The night was starry and clear, the last time he had been here it was pouring and dark. He saw the streets had mostly remained unchanged, there were some pavements and a lot of buildings changed with some being unidentifiable to Daugo. Nonetheless, he found the street which led southwards to his hobbit-hole home.

Cardiloc listened intently to the maiars speech, all they ever seemed to give was speeches, though he trusted Eonwe; much more than the accursed Illmare or the weakling Pyrus. He had saved the dunlendings life, yet Cardiloc had failed to save him by shifting out of his eagle form back on the Island, he owed Eonwe his trust yet still a faint stirring of home was in his heart.

But what home would he find, his mother and father would be elderly, his brothers likely dead in some field in Rohan. But he needed to know the truth, summoning up his courage he asked the question that had always been on his mind. "Is my family alive...?" As of pleading they were alive.

"Dwarves reunited? The North survived?" the dwarf thinks as he stands up and looks outside the window, enjoying the view of their beloved middle earth, although it was Bree.. "I'm sorry, these gods'll have to wait, I was told that my father is still alive and so is my brother, atleast I hope so" the migthy dwarf says towards the Maia. "I don't know how you brought us here lad, but thanks" he addes before heading downstairs without even giving the Maia a chance to react to his decision.

"Is there, anyway, I can contact them other than walking many leagues ; to tell them I'm alright..." The dunlending questioned Manwe, his voice desperate.

Ha'zi had been listening intently to Eonwë's argument with Pyrus, but when the Maia addressed the room the current situation of the world after they've been gone, everything else was drowned out by Ha'zi's own thoughts. 20 years? How was this possible? His friends and relatives would all either be dead or little more than twice his age now. And he had no plan on how to contact them. Journeying all the way from Bree to Harad would be no small task, but maybe his new abilities could help...

As he was still digesting this information
, another revelation was thrust upon the boy. Harad... was conquered? All of it? What is the "Reunited Kingdom's" rule like? Could he even return home now?

Was it really worth it? Eonwë says that travelling with him could save so many lives, even the world. Ha'zi was tempted to join the man, as he really had nowhere to go and no idea of what to do now with his life. But would the boy trust another Maia, after what just happened with Ilmarë? Let's not forget the man had lied to Ha'zi too; his father was dead. But was that also a lie? It came from her, after all. Maybe his father was still alive, and that evil woman had only planted that picture in his mind to trick him into helping her.

Now, Ha'zi had one thing he needed to settle with the Maia before anything else. He approached Eonwë and said bluntly, "Is he alive?"

Eonwe watched Thoruk leave. Now both the Behemoth and the Elemental had disbanded. It wasn't looking good.

"Yes. You could allow me to send them a message, it will take maybe an hour, or you could use the powers of the Hybrid to fly yourself there within three hours. However, we shall be heading south to the desolate lands of Mordor soon, if you join us, we can stop at Dunland on the way." Eonwe said to Cardiloc.

Thoruk found his way down to the bar below. The Prancing Pony was, respectfully, still a homely bar and a lot of the blood and bodies of their previous episode there had been gone. Of course. It had been twenty years since that nightmare. As he walked he felt alone. For once. He could return home. But would it be the same home that he had left years ago? Would he be safe on the journey there? How would he return to the Iron Hills? Using the path through Rohan or going over the mountains, which was safer? And what would happen when people found out he was a Giant? Would that make them afraid of him? Or would it make them think of him like a God?

Eonwe heard Ha'zi and turned to answer him. "No. Your father is dead. I lied in order to convince you to help us. Now, I am telling you the truth. You are an orphan, Ha'zi. I am sorry. I truly am and I hope one day you'll forgive me. But, right now we have to stop Morgoth. Otherwise many more fathers will die and many more children will be orphaned. It is your choice, Ha'zi and I will not force you to help me. You may leave of your own accord like the others or you can stay and protect the world."

Iver was still broken so it was up to Vlad to act. "I will join Thoruk in his adventure to mount gundabad so we ca finish it faster and join you guys up. Two giants will be able to free that fool's father in no time" Vlad said after grabbing Iver "Where do you want us to meet you?" He asked the maia on his way out.
