VENTURES INTO THE REMOTE (RP)

"Do not be ignorant," he said as he is rowing, "I know a slave trafficker when I see one. I have been a mobster for years. He will always have enemies, and that enemy is watching. The shores are not that safe. Do not rush into another death. Stay awake of threats on the surface instead of rowing blindly."

"No." I would say stepping forward and grabbing the man by the throat again making him stand before the stairwell. Just as Elodrin could see the fear in the slavers eyes the slaver could see the anger in his. "I Elodrin Evrithion, Officer of Gondor, wielder of the mighty Windows-Ring, hearby sentence you to death for the illegal trafficking of slaves, kidnapping of a nobal, kidnapping of nearly 40 innocent people, torture, some cases of malnourishment, and much more. May you rot in the sea filth." I would say kicking the man down the stairwell, if there was a door he would slam it shut.

The slaver fell back and tumbled down the staircase with a scream, landing in the water. He struggled up, "No-ple-AHHHH!!!" He screamed horrified when turning to see something behind him in the water he ruggedly jumped a few steps but a longe-spiked tongue-like appendage flew out of a dark shape in the water, grasping the slaver's leg and reeling him in like a fish caught on a line. Elodrin, Sigeric and Dimitri witnessed this along with other slaves. The man was dragged backwards into the water, then underneath in a splash of bubbles, his screams forever silenced. They could wonder what had happened to him, or they could get the hell away from the water. Grimnir notices the sea rising, or the ship sinking, knowing something can't be right, he alarms Thoruk and the lady to follow him to Deslan, and the last boat. These slavers be damned, the sea or the beast beneath them will finish them off. "To the rowboat, move move move!"

I would turn around and face the rest of the slaves and say"Grab as much armor and weapons as you can, not just for yourself but for your comrades also." I would then walk to the wall and start to put on armor, looking for a Longsword or Greatsword to use and a small one handed crossbow.

"you fool wont make it, we are too far and the waves are bigger than dim. you wont survive 10 sec in the sea so get yar ass back here and help with the sails" Iver shouted at the dwarf. 16311516

Dimitri had seen enough, and runs to the upper deck. He then hears Iver shout something about sails, and then rushes to help with them. They had to get as close to the coast as possible.

Grimnir looks down at the Sea, and indeed sees a dark figured creature of some sort, before even making a final conclusion, he shouts, "KRAKEN! Wazzocks! THere is a focking KRAKEN! I'd be damned if I end up in its mouth. TO the sails!"

"Get up to the deck and brace for impact! And transport the wounded with you!" Sigeric shouted, motioning for the former slaves to get out of the gallery before it flooded. He went to check the adjoining rooms to make sure every man had gotten out, before leaving for the upper deck himself.

Half the slaves didn't even know what was going on but the absurd screaming from Grimnir, a quite tough dwarf, sent them into a panic.
"RUN, KRAKEN!!" One repeated.
"What's a kraken?" Another asked.
"KRAKEN!!!"" Was the reply.
They scurried around, some slipping on the deck, some even started to hide in barrels and crates. The more sensible, less traumatic slaves attempted to help but no one really knew what they were doing on the ship except for a few lads: the Gondorian naval crews that were captured including Dean and Marco - Sam being in a bad condition at the moment - then rushed to climb up the starboard and port boats, targetting the main mast and topsail in order to increase their speed. It was another 10 meters before they reached land and they needed to hurry.

All the slaves, at least, all that they knew were present on the top deck, quarterdeck and upperdeck watching the storm, sea and land. The shape in the water they had seen before had disappeared and now most were scanning the area around the ship or staring at the land. Some were even praying as the rain hailed down upon them. The storm actually seemed to be dissipating at this point, a gradual slow decrease in rain, but the waves still smashed against the ship tossing it about like a toy.

Iver, Margoz and the slaver were at the wheel while Grimnir, Dimitri, and Sigeric were with them on the upperdeck; Thoruk on the quarterdeck just next to them; Deslan and Elodrin on the top deck below them along with most of the slaves; Marco and Dean hanging to the rigging of the mainmast. Everyone was armed to the teeth at this point and those who were focused on the land saw the strange figure again.

A giant humanoid of somekinds staring at them far inland behind a jungle. They could see its upperbody and head. It seemed to be devoid of clothing and nude but it was too far to see clearly. But they could all see it. Some phantom or specter, no doubt, or maybe they were hallucinating? The creature continued to eye them before disappearing beneath the distant trees. What was it? But more importantly- was it a threat? Then another question appeared to them. Where was Daugo?

The next of my posts shall be the last, so RP away before the pause.))

"Everyone grab everything you can and get it off the boat. Focous on food, sails and wood so we can make a camp for the night" Iver ordered with charismatic voice from the wheel. "You are comming with me" pointed at the last slaver and went down to the captain's chamber to search for maps.

((I lied, this isn't my last post.))

Iver entered the gallery on his way to find the Captain's Quarters. It was empty after Sigeric cleared it and devoid of belongings aside from a few corpses. He saw the staircase, the bottom staircase still flooding, the water levels rising, and the upper staircase clear and empty. Obviously the upper had to be the way to the Captain's cabin. 14628767

he asked the slaver where did the captain kept all of his maps and such. if the answer was up he would tell em to help him grab all the shit out and leave while hoping that the other slaves will follow his orders and get everything useable to the land.

The slaver captain told him that the Captain kept all his maps in his cabins which was located up the staircase in the gallery. But the slaver refused to leave his position on the wheel. He recognized that while the maps were useful, they wouldn't be useful if they were all dead at the bottom of the sea. He kept on closing the distance between them in the island. Now 8 meters.

((This is probably my only post for a few hours. Dimitri does this once we get to land.))

Dimitri tosses his warhammer on the beach, picks up a barrel, and goes to the armory, where he begins to toss any weapon he can get his hands on into it before it gets too heavy. After that, he brings it to deck, closes it, and rolls it onto shore before tossing barrels and other supplies onto the beach.

Margoz desperately joins Dimitri and throws as many useful supplies as possible.

Grimnir sees everyone tossing supplies on the Island, but Grimnir launches himself over deck with a great run. With Axe in hand was all that he held dear the most, he jumps from the ship, with great Hurry and notions Celeste and Thoruk to Also jump.

The ship reached 1 meter and came to a jarring stop, crashing into the seabed, sending everyone and everything onboard flying for a second. Daugo flew out of the Captain's bed, the Captain's corpse falling on top of him; Iver found himself on the quarterdeck along with Thoruk and Celeste; Dimitri and the last slaver remained held to the rails of the upperdeck; the top deck was littered with people: from Marco who had fallen from the rigging to Deslan whom tripped and landed in the empty rowboat onboard. Everyone was disorientated for a moment. Then a great swish and the ship creaked loudly as it began to crack open, the hull breaching in various locations. Water splurged out of the hull, the gallery flooding escalated and the rear of the ship seemed to get sucked into the sea with a whirl of water and wood.

Once everyone had recovered many of the slaves started to climb the rigging and ropes down the starboard side of the ship, following after Grimnir whilst others remained onboard helping Dimitri and Margoz drop crates and barrels of items and objects onto the beach. Deslan, Iver, Daugo, Dimitri, Margoz, Thoruk, Elodrin, Sigeric, Dean, Marco, Sam, Celeste and all the injured still remained onboard. Many were abandoning ship, over a dozen had clambered off the railings in pursuit of freedom and following Grimnir's rather foolish example were now sprinting on the beach, some kissing land, others running for the jungle. But the majority, about twenty including the injured remained for them to help get off the ship. Additionally, Grimnir sprains his ankle while jumping off the ship, good going Grimnir. Maybe use the rigging ropes next time, like any sane person would. Those onboard suffered minor bruises and would recover easily from these.

The island, or was it an island, ahead of them, had a gorgeous sandy white beach with a tropical jungle line forming only 15 meters from the beach. A mountain range blocked their vision from penetrating further and it seemed a valley was between the lush rainforest and the mountains where a tall mountain rose up from the Earth, taller than any around it, and christened with a volcanic peak, stood isolated, a lonely mountain. It was in the center of this valley, away from the mountain range. To their left the group of heroes could see another slave ship landing in the far distance near a rockier beach meanwhile to their right, there was nothing but a long stretch of beach ending in a spit of land edging far into the sea. The other two slave ships were missing, probably sinking at the bottom of the ocean right now. The water around the ship held no sign of the beast that had attacked the slaver Elodrin had sentenced to death.

Their freedom had begun. Or had it? And fate had destined them to this place, island, whatever it was. The storm had subsided, the waves calming, the rain ending, the thunder and lightning ceasing. Was this their haven? Their sanctuary? Or was their more peril at hand? As all of this was pondered in the minds of many of these freed slaves a hidden figure in the shrubs watched them atop a mountain far from the beach with piercing blue eyes. He spoke to himself, isolated on the mountain, and uttered out a single sentence,
"Finally. They've arrived."

((This is a prologue to Chapter 3. RP is still paused until the 25th. Enjoy.))

A bat flew overhead beneath the stalactites of the cave ceiling. It's wing flapped as it chittered and grasped onto a sharp-stretched stalactite, holding onto it like a child grasping onto its mother's leg. It settled its dark ebony wings and rested back, falling asleep as a droplet of water trickled its way down the stalactite and fell through the thick darkness of the cave. It landed with a slight splash on the forehead of a man 15 feet beneath the ceiling.

"Hmm.", the man grumbled softly in the darkness. His eyes opened and saw the bare glint of light illuminating the cave. Stalactites, stalagmites, cold rock, and stone, as well as the many pools of freshwater surrounding him, gave off an eerie look. A faint luminescence came from the entrance to the cave which lay to the man's left. He remained in his position, flat out on the floor, lying on the semi-wet cold ground. In the corner of the room, a dead fire lay and beside it on a decaying log was a set of fine armor; multiple brown tunics, pants, and other apparel; a broadsword with etchings that seemed to glow in the shadows. The man grunted, closed his eyes once more, shifted into a different position, attempting to avoid the falling droplets and to achieve sweet, sweet sleep.

After eight minutes, another drop of water landed on his forehead. "Hmmmm.", he grunted loud enough to startle the sleeping bat above him which shit itself, sending a warm, wet mess flying down upon the man's tunic. A grumble, some shifting and he was up. The man took off his tunic and washed it before putting on another brown tunic and moving towards the entrance of the cave.

He stood, looking out onto the island. He could not see it all from his vantage point but had a direct view of the eastern seaboard. It was beautiful. From his feet on the volcanic rock-soil of the cave down to the mountainside and up to the dense jungle that covered the island like a coat of armor that only broke when reaching the sea. The beach was pale and the sea stormy. He had retreated into the cave when the rains came but now the only indication of their presence was the puddles and running streams of water that flowed down the mountain and to the jungle valley. The world was amazing even in this darkest hour. He could hear the clamor of nocturnal creatures even from here. This is what he had fought for. This magnificence. Then he noticed it.

A ship. No. Two ships had foundered on the beachside. And there were people? Or so he thought as he saw ant-like figures onboard the ships and some on the beach. Now? Seriously? They could've sent him now but instead sent him exactly 168 days, 2 hours, 5 minutes and 32 seconds ago. Nevermind that. He had a mission to do. And now was the time to fulfill it. He set off without another thought, walking down the mountain on his bare feet, toward the beach.

Chapter 3: The Island.

Grimnir landed with a splash in the water, his feet sinking into the sandy bottom of the beach. The water was shallow, at his ankles. He could hear the waves crashing with the surf and ahead of him, the beach empty before the dense jungle that lurked beyond it. The ship had come to a stop next to him as he waded his way onto the dry sand. Land. Finally.

Aboard the slaves found eight barrels: two containing fish, one salted meat, another moldy bread and carrots, three filled with water and the last with ale. Additionally, a box of cotton clothes and the tarp that Iver found before served as blankets and wear that could go over their cheap dresses. There was only enough to clothe 20 of them. And there were 32 slaves and 1 slaver. Three of them had been injured in the fighting and needed bandages to cover up their wounds before infection set in. Sigeric needed to cover his shoulder wound, too. The ship was still flooded with water and the gallery was slightly flooded. That combined with the fact that the creature which had attacked the slavers was still unaccounted for made the gallery a dangerous place to return to.

Dimitri, Elodrin, Sigeric, Margoz, Iver, Thoruk, Deslan, Ha'zi, and Cardiloc had gathered the supplies and were among the majority of the slaves on the deck including Dean, a beaten up Sam, Marco, Celeste and an injured Lesier. There were a total of 32 of them crowding the deck, 30 slaves and 1 slaver. One was missing.

Daugo awoke atop of the dead body of the Captain. His face, tunic and pants were covered by the man's blood. The entire room was a shamble. Ornaments and trophies had fallen over; the desk had moved to the left and toppled the maps and figures of vessels; the wardrobe was on the floor and various clothes littered the floor of the quarters. The hobbit still grasped the shark-tooth knife in his hand, his knuckles turning white as he gripped it tightly.

The moon was still up in the sky yet it was beginning to fall, nevertheless, it was still night. 200 feet across the beach to their left sat another ship. Of the same build, size, capacity and length. Bearing the same flag: black on black terracotta. They could see people disembarking from it, hauling off barrels and rowboats. There was nothing but empty beach between them. Tension rose as the slaves looked towards their comrades for answers. It was clear what was about to occur.
"What do we do?" The question came from Celeste.
