VENTURES INTO THE REMOTE (RP)

Iver decided that since others live here it means the giants cant find them and he started whisteling the music of "The King Beneath the Mountains" while walking toward the city.

Dimitri led the figurative charge, taking in every detail of the city. It was unlike anything the books told of, it didn't seem elven, dwarven, orcish, or human. Could it possibly be... Valarian? 'What legends once walked these ruins?' Dimitri wondered. "What's this place called?"

Cardiloc looked at Dimitri when he spoke, expecting him to give a half hearted speech. What he didn't expect was for Dimitri to promise his life in exchange for others. The kneecap had really been Cardilocs fault, and he accepted that. Dimitri only smashed it because they would've been comprised otherwise. The Dunlending bowed his head in shame. His head turned as Grimnir punched Iver and although he had developed a dislike for the Merchant, this had gone too far and he could only agree with Marco's speech. Even though Marco was a Gondorian.

Cardiloc listened to Eonwes speech intently, though he did not believe in this Valar or Maiar as his folk long since turned from those aspects to their own ancestors and the wolf. He certainly did not believe in serving the greater good and just, wanted, to go home. But after Sigerics speech his mind was changed, he would use his power to better the world and save it from the evil that threatened it.

The Dunlending went and helped clear up the camp, hauling some gear onto his back with Radaa as well if the Hill-Man wished to do so. He walked up beside Ha'Zi and waited for the pair to finish talking. "And.. and I" The Dunlending mustered up his courage to talk to the deity. "I would like to know why these Valar chose me as well, I was just a common hunter before I was swept up by those slavers. What do I have to offer that these tested warriors can not?"

(( ALL OF THIS IS BEFORE TIMESKIP ))

((Remember this happens before the time-skip))

"I cannot realize the reasons of the Valar. All I know is that you must serve a purpose, Cardiloc. You will do something to save Arda. I will speak with you later. For now, let us move so that the enemy does not locate us." Eonwe replied to Cardiloc, leading the group towards the mountain. ((Current time))

Eonwe took a deep breath as he looked down at the ruined city.
"Aldamos. It was once a settlement of the 'Kings among Men' also known as the Numenoreans. They found the island once whilst it was in movement under the command of Ulmo and settled for a time. They were wiped out by plague and the giants, gradually. This is the last remnants of their existence." The Maia said, leading them down the valley slope towards the ruins.

They could see the ancient stone walls, albeit, crumbling and broken were still bright marble white and etched with hieroglyphs. It was as if magic was embued in such fine stone masonry. There were some buildings which had collapsed but most were in a rather stable shape and some were being occupied and utilized. They saw some people wandering about near a great fire, laughing and japing whilst they fed on a large animal roasted on a spit. It seemed like they were cooking wild boar. There were pens of animals too, horses, sheep and pig filling these. Some commotion from below brought the attention of some of the people. They ran towards them. The group could see that these people were like them. Multicultural with many of different race, however, each wore a similar clothing. The same slave clothing that the group had been subjected to wear for their months in captivity....

"What must I save Arda from, the Dark Lord?" Cardiloc pondered to himself, though keeping close to Eonwe for when he needed to speak to the Dunlending.
--------------------------
Cardilocs brows furrowed at the mention of those accursed folk.

"Numenoreans, those folk drove my people from their rightful homes and destroyed the forests of Enedwaith and Dunland," Cardiloc told Eonwe as if the herald didn't already know. "Their city is, beautiful though." He added his eyes marveling at the structure that was laid out before the group. He decided to move next to Ha'zi whom was similar to his age.

"So... you can transform into a giant, and I into an animal..." Cardiloc mused at the ridiculousness of this save the world situation. "I'm Cardiloc," He introduced himself formally to the boy.

((Before Time Skip:))

"Bilbo Baggins is still alive? He must be quite old now. While I was in Bree, I heard people speaking of preparations for a very expensive party in the Shire. Someone's 111th birth day, I believe. His name was Baggins, I remember now. It must have been him. I assure you that the tales of his exploits are true, judging by the records of Dale. He travelled to the Lonely Mountain and stole the Arkenstone right from under the dragon Smaug's nose. They say that he could walk through the air unseen." Sigeric looked around the camp. "It appears that we will be leaving soon. Let us help the others prepare."

((After Time Skip:))

As Sigeric followed Eönwë into the ruined colony, he marveled at the stonework of the great Numenorean buildings. The most advanced Men of the Second Age had built this city, yet even their skill could not prevent it from falling into disrepair, lost to history. He wished he had lived in that great age, before the greatest bloodlines of Men failed. The Dunedain had once intermarried with the Men of Rhovanion, and Sigeric's family claimed to have some small portion of their blood. He did not know whether to actually believe that. Men were fond of weaving tales to make themselves seem greater than they really were. Sigeric wanted his own greatness to be rooted in truth.

Daugo was still mulling over in his head what Sigeric had told him about Bilbo Baggins. He hadn't been entirely honest with the Dalishman before; he had indeed met Bilbo once, tried to swindle him into giving him a miniscule fraction of his legendary fortune. He had failed, but had gotten the appreciation that he was a damn intelligent old man with high regards for himself and a bit of contempt towards his neighbours.

Eonwe's speech made him a bit wary, particularly that bit about plague. Hopefully they wouldn't encounter that, if the Valar were protecting them and whatnot.

After a bit feels a slight discomfort and finds a small leech latched onto his skin. Disgusted, he takes the sharktooth knife and pries it away, squashing it under his leathery feet. He advances towards the city as in dream, hardly believing they had finally come upon some civilization after months in infrahuman conditions. Would he finally get some well-deserved rest? Would he ever?

"I don't see why these people are so eager to sacrifice their lives for some gods that have done nothing for them," he mutters to Iver.

There were some grunts in the crowd but no one stepped forward. It appeared none of them were Forochelrim.

"Any of you, Gondorian?" Came a shout from a woman. She strode up out of the mass of slaves that had appeared outside of Aldamos, she wasn't particularly tall but stood at 5'10" and bore an air of authority. Her hair was raven black and glossy, she seemed malnourished but was lively.

"Yeah." Came a reply from Dean who walked out to meet her, "Lieutenant Silesia?" He asked recognizing her.
"Dean?" She asked in return a smile breaking out on her face.
"Hey!" Sam ran out of the crowd and hugged her, enveloping her in his arms. Dean joined, hugging them all.
"I thought they slew you after they captured our Numerramars?"
"No, they took us as slaves, sister."
"They did the same for us," She nodded at the rest of the slaves, "Guys, it's my brothers Dean and Sam from our second vessel."
A bunch of greetings arose from the crowd as a mass portion became to integrate and disperse with the group. There were many more Gondorians here. Some other groups were prevalent in the background: some southerners, a couple Easterlings, some Northmen and even a dwarf.

Besides the crowd stood another figure. Eonwe met her and they began conversing in a language that sounded Elvish. She was startlingly beautiful. The most beautiful woman they had ever seen. Surpassing an elf's grace. She had dark hair and gleamed like the starry night sky. There was a faint glow about her. The way she walked, the movement of her body, everything about her was unusual. Her eyes were like stars. Possessing their own light.

Eonwe returned to them after a brief chat with her. She followed suit. He introduced her,
"This is Illmare, Handmaid of Varda and my companion."

"Hello. You all must be tired. Come, there is food down by the campfire where Victas is boiling a splendid rabbit soup and roasted wild boar. You must eat. There is shelter in the caves but there are also homes for you to have inside the buildings." Her voice (sounded British) was very soft and sweet. She motioned over to the communal buildings and a huge campfire.

Dimitri looks with a degree of suspicion at Ilmare, but a growing sense of relief overwhelms all and he simply nods before heading towards the fire. He was hungry, tired, and desperately wanted to shave. But before he does that, he approaches the dwarf and asks him, "What brings a Khazad here?" 12253360

"wow, Ive seen the elves of Lorien, Lindon, Rivendell and mirkwood. Yet i now know why we use the phrase Maia to describe perfection while elf is used for beauty" Iver whispered to Vlad while walking. "Aye thoruk, let’s get ourselves a house and set up things. Marco wanna join us?". 13615485

After a clear nod and ah "Aye" towards Iver, the bearded warrior turns towards the lady infront of him again. "Aye, I'll prefer a good axe, instead of a rabbit soup if you don't mind lady" Thoruk says as he looks around. "Would you mind to show a son of Durin where the axes are in this place?"

Sigeric, finally noticing the leeches, pulled them off and threw them to the ground. As the group started to settle in, the Dalishman approached Eonwe and Ilmare and bowed slightly. "My lord. My lady. Forgive me for asking so soon, but how long will we be staying in this city? Can the Karoltai find us here?" Sigeric looked towards the group of Northmen. He would have to become acquainted with them soon and establish connections through which he could expand his influence.

"Slavers." The dwarf let out a grumble.
"I was wandering the deserts of Harad when they found me drinking from the river Harnen. Killed two before they broke my arm. It's healed now but I wasn't tough enough to kill 'em all. Bloody slavers." The dwarf was red-haired and did not seem like the typical longbeard. If anything he was shorter, stockier and much more well built.
"Names, Tumiel. What brings you here, friend?"

8861015

-------------

"Yeah, coming, just a sec." Marco muttered over the noise of the crowd. He was caught up with a couple of Gondorians who were laughing and punching him in a friendly manner.

14628767

------------

Illmare nodded to Thoruk, "Our trusty blacksmith Polly can show you to a fine axe, young dwarf. You can find him near the campfire." She directed Thoruk towards the campfire.

Eonwe stepped in to speak when Sigeric approached.
"Yes, they already know we are somewhere near the mountain. We have a constant watch from this side of the mountain so that if any approach we shall know. We'll be staying as long as it takes to collect the powers of the Karoltai. Once all Karoltai have been inherited then using their powers you can leave the island."

Iver looked around to find a house that will fit his needs. A house with at least 3 rooms and maybe a possible second floor. After finding one he moved his stuff in (cart, crossbow, navigation tool, scrap from the beach)

Thoruk aproaches the campfire with his improvised bag, the new bolts Grimnir had given to him, which don't realy fit into the bag anymore, and the broken spear in hand. "Aye lads, who is the guy named Polly" He asks while running around at some faces. "The Maia Lady said he could show me where the axes are." "Oh and I could need a quiver for these bolts aswell" he adds before waiting for the answer-call.

"Very well then. I will take my leave for now, if you do not mind." Sigeric looked for the blacksmith whom he overheard Ilmare mention. Upon finding her, he would hand over his halberd. "I attached the head to the shaft, but I'm afraid it is not quite stable yet. If you would help reinforce it, I would be much obliged." If she agreed, Sigeric would leave for the armory and look for a fresh quiver of arrows for his longbow. He would also look for a backup weapon to carry in case his halberd broke again. Perhaps a rapier.

"I can say the same about orcs. I bet you are a bit luckier than me, though." Dimitri says, referring to his steel arm. "Curiosity demanded I find out why there was only one of Aule's folk here among dozens of men and two folk of the West. Dimitri, at yer service." he continues, extending his hand for a handshake.

Ignoring the conversations at the front of the city, Ha'zi greets Cardilloc. "Ha'zi." he says politely,  "'Car-dil-loc', how's kneecap?" 12700073

Cardiloc looked at the elf maiden with wonder in his eyes, he had never seen a woman in his life so fascinatingly perfect. Before he snapped out of his trance due to Ha'Zi. "It's fine, no longer smashed to bits." He shrugged to Ha'zi, before speaking. "So, you can turn big and I can turn into an animal." He mused on the ridiculousness of the situation.
