VENTURES INTO THE REMOTE (RP)

"Well then, shall we go? Seems the westerners want to talk. Again, that was quite a fine scrap. It was a pleasure to meet you all." he said. He made for the campfire and began to help Victas clear it. "Quite a good breakfast, sir. Where'd you learn to cook?" he asked.

"In Lossarnach!" Victas bellowed, his huge belly shaking with each laugh, "Where else would such fine cooking come from?" He said putting away the last of the wooden plates and bowls before heading off towards the hilltop. Many others began to meet Sigeric up there. Dean, some of those Haradrim that had been friends of Deslan, Elodrin and his Gondorian lot. Speaking of which, where was Deslan? The thought occurred to him that the man had not been around ever since the waterfall.

Eonwe stood still, silent and stoic, the usual, his face a blank slate expressing no emotion. Illmare merely had a light smile on her features with an unidentifiable expression in her eyes. Was it pain, sadness or merely surprise? And for what reason? They waited until the others would join them.

"Common guys we need to go now" Iver told the group while taking some of the branches and placed them in his cart. Then with Thoruk they grabbed it and with Hazi and Daugo behind they returned to the camp. With no barries but a water melon.

Once most of them were at the hilltop Eonwe began.

"Today, our chosen warriors and I shall venture out beyond Aldamos to capture the power of the Flying Giant. Illmare has told me you are aware of the stakes here. We need each Giant power to leave the island. That is why I ask that some of you join us on this expedition. I cannot guarantee we will succeed. I cannot guarantee you will survive. But for the sake of humanity. For the sake of Arda. For your own sakes, I ask that you give your hearts. We only need twenty others to occupy us on the expedition. The Warrior Giant and Hybrid Giant inheritors shall be coming so we shall need many of you to remain behind to defend Aldamos with Illmare." he glanced towards his companion, "So, who is brave enough to venture beyond our walls of security and out into the unknown?"

Elodrin would have a troubled look on his face before speaking up. "Although I find myself to be capable of going, I must decline as I believe I would be more useful here defending the city of my ancestors and those who live here." He'd say.

Iver thought the choice was clear, "stay in the camp, make the cart, eat, let others do the hard work" But then the memory of his drean hit him "follow the boy" it said. "I will join" Iver said. "I helped killing the beast giant and the faster will kill those pricks the sooner we get home" he said, not mantioning the fact that his plan was to let two monsters to fight each other and almost kill two people in the procces.

"Aye, I'm in for sure aswell" the mighty dwarf says after Iver joined the hunting party. "I'll smash those giants, one after the other, thats my oath I will swear at this moment, by my bloodline as a Ironbeard." he says while grabbing his axe'n shield with blazing fire in his eyes.

"If you're going, so am I!" Exclaimed Marco, ready to get away from the autocratic training regimes that Elodrin was instituting.
"Yea, me too." Said Celeste.
"If Card's going so am I!" Radaa stepped forward with a couple of hillmen. By the end of it they had 19 people. One space was left.

Eonwe glanced at the remaining people. There were 160 of them. All the Gondorians stayed behind except for Marco. None of the Rhovanion men were swayed nor the Haradrim. The majority of the volunteers were hillmen and various minority groups. His eyes roamed the crowd before stopping on Dimitri.

"I expected a warrior of your status to be willing to sacrifice your life for Arda and its inhabitants." Eonwe said, dryly.

"I am at a crossing point. My heart urges me to go out and fight, to shed blood and claim glory. But my mind urges caution, for if I die, I can't earn glory anymore." Dimitri begins. "I suspect that some of my original party stay back for good purposes, but others may stay behind to gain power among our group, for they have been corrupted. I feel the need to combat that corruption..." He stops and looks around. These men and women, who had barely knew, already felt like family to him. They were all united by hardship and now he realized it would only be through further hardship that he could guarantee that his family would escape. "For the sake of my brothers and sister, for the sake of Middle-Earth and freedom, I will go with you." he says, before adding, "Plus, I want my warhammer back and I can't stand the thought of leaving it behind."

Sigeric stepped forward. "I shall volunteer for this expedition, my lord. I am a knight; such is my purpose. I shall not stand idly by while I could be working to extricate us from this island."

"One of you must stay behind. Otherwise we shall tarry and slacken. Leaving Aldamos more vulnerable to an attack whilst our strongest weapons, our Giant shifters, will be away. I will respect your choices. And for you, Dimitri, I do not know the whereabouts of your weapon. I cannot return it to you." Eonwe addressed them both.

Celeste, who had been ignored this entire time by him, broke a bit. A tear glanced her cheek as she touched his chiseled, scarred face. "I will. Just promise you'll return to me." In her mind, 'Oh my Eru, finally this bastard decided to pay some attention to me.' She stepped down and let Dimitri take her place.

"Then we are settled. Those with me let us seek out the stables." Eonwe said, walking down and moving towards the river where the stables remained.

Illmare spoke out when Eonwe left, "Leaders of Aldamos. This city needs to be defended whilst the shifters and Eonwe are away. We need more patrols, in the caves, near the mountain top and down in the valley. Who amongst you is willing to commit to defending this city?"

"Thank you." he whispered, before turning and following Eonwe to the stables. But in Dimitri's mind, the cruel, echoing voice of Morgathos howled, 'You absolute fool! You make oaths you cannot keep!'
