As he moves to hug his son, Daugo hears someone yelling outside. He writes it off at first as some nutjob being nutty, but then realizes that it's Iver, and that he's calling his name. He looks back without letting go of the boy, and mentally tells Iver to go to hell.
"Dammit," he says. "It's probably one of the lads from the fleet. I left in a bit of a hurry, I warrant they'll be wanting me back," he tells Pomona. "Give me a second to tell him off," he says, roughing up the kid's hair and walking to the door with a sour look.
"Bugger off, Iver," he calls out from behind the door.
