VENTURES INTO THE REMOTE (RP)

The Prancing Pony was quiet this evening. Barliman Butterbur stood at the bar and looked over at him, "Ye hungry, fella?" A lot of the customers gave him weird looks as they saw his armor. "Great. Cardiloc is going to be angry at me for this.... I have to hurry up and get back to him." So, quickly, Ha'zi goes around to any and all elves he can find, asking them if they can translate the book.
--------
"Anyone know where we are?" Ha'zi addressed to the others, still dazed from the drop. He awkwardly climbs off the dragon and sets out food for the others then begins to make the camp.

Cardiloc was slumped against the dragons body extremely drowsy. He looked up at Ha'zi. "I'll need a few hours..." He yawned, and promplty fell asleep. It was up to Dimitri and Ha'zi to decide what to do now. 16315828

Sigeric breathed in the fresh mountain air as he emerged from the pass. After spending several months in the company of the group that he had met on that fateful day in Bree, it was refreshing to be able to travel alone. Peace and quiet were commodities that Sigeric could not often afford, but he made the best of every opportunity. Of course, it could never last, for one could not accomplish anything meaningful in such a state. A lone horse wandering the steppes caught his attention. Sigeric had no idea how to tame a horse, but he decided that he had little choice in the matter.

Ha'zi found a few but they couldn't give him answers. "Sorry, that language is neither Quenyan or Sindarin." One had said. It seemed no one could translate the book. No one except...Valarin...something clicked in Ha'zi's mind. Valarin. Maybe a Valar could, no of course a Valar could but could a Maiar? Maybe Pyrus if they ever found him...

---------

The ruins could be used as shelter from the elements. It was getting cold at night and the wind was picking up.

--------------

The gate was shut. The Khazadul symbol above the gate read 'Say friend and enter' and above it was another saying but in Sindarin. Grimnir as slightly confused by this but he noted when he was younger, his mother educated him on stories of Khazad-Dum and how the Elves of Eregion had kinship, this puzzled him as elves and dwarves weren't the closest of friends yet in such a scenario in their history both put aside their differences to work together and profit with the Mithril trade. Perhaps Grimnir could learn to put aside his differences with people like Iver in order to acheive a greater goal like his ancestors had. Anyway, that was beside the point. Now how to open this damn door?

The pool behind Grimnir splashed slightly.

-----------

Iver, Marco and Thoruk made it down the staircase to the bottom, the only noise was their breath in this cold, deep dark place. They would need a torch to continue or some form of light.

------------

The horse idled, eating some grass. Sigeric would have to make his way down the mountainside to get to it.

Sigeric approached the horse slowly, taking an apple from his bag of provisions. He admitted to himself that he had no idea what he was doing, and that this would probably end horribly in some way.

Grimnir looked at the pool behind him, splashing lightly, "No idea, but that sounds so familiar." He mutters. Grimnir looks at the door, "Say friend and Enter" the writings said, and Grimnir thought for a while, about the stories of Moria. What was that damn word again? Grimnir tries, "Melon".

"So," Daugo says one of those many long evenings. "You've told me quite a lot about... well, everything. Now it's my turn. What do you know about the Karoltai?" He rummages in his bag while saying this, searching for some pipeweed.

"Aye Iver?" Thoruk asks, completely blind due to the darkness around them. "Could you look out for anything we can light up and us as a torch, wood or something like that? I might have an idea lad." he says.

With a nod of thanks, Dimitri takes a quick look and picks something simple and strong for himself (think Theoden without the gold) and some leather for Cardiloc. He searches for some spears, a sling, and other weapons afterwards. He intended to take advantage of the high-quality weapons and armor the Eldar had before he went forth unto glory.

---------

Dimitri gently picks up Cardiloc and places him in a safe place in the ruins. "I'm guessing we are in a region called Eregion. The Storytellers told me a mighty Elf smith ruled these lands once and forged the Rings of Power, which caused the end of the Second Age at the Battle of the Last Alliance and eventually this great war that defeated the darkness of Mordor. But we should be careful, we are rather close to the mountains. Orcs still prowl." Dimitri replies. "'The wolf that one hears is worse than the orc that one fears." He takes up a defensive position near the edge of the camp, keeping a close eye out for any movement. Years of guarding towns and villages in Gondor made him ready to stay up all night if needed.

"Well, Dimitri, I don't think it's a good idea to put him in the ruins. We have a tent... and it might be cursed or something." Ha'zi shivers, both from cold and fear. He sets and starts up a campfire nearby to drive away both, and starts warming up the bread and meat he obtained.

"True, true." Dimitri responds, doing as Ha'zi advised. "Don't use too much now, we don't know how long it'll be till we reach a friendly land." But he continues to maintain a watch while silently reciting the 12 Mantras of Tulkas the Brawler.

The horse heard his approach and turned to see him. Sigeric saw it was a chestnut destrier of the strong bulky build. It watched him approach but made no effort to run away.

-------

The door remained closed. Something splashed behind Grimnir.

-----

"Not much, Master Hobbit. We heard some tales but these were far and few." Celeborn said, "My parents once mentioned the monsters of Morgoth. The Uvanimor and how Giants existed among them. We could not imagine they could take the shape of men, dwarves and," he looked to Daugo, "Hobbits."

--------

Iver found some wood, a torch actually, that had yet to be lit aflame on the wall nearby them.

14628767 13615485

--------

Dimitri felt a spark of something alight within him. In the light of the fire he saw something happen to the skin on his hand. His finger tips became golden. No, not the colour of gold. Literally golden. They glinted off his own reflection. After blinking again, Dimitri would see the gold dissipate and his fingertips return to normal. What had just happened?

Ha'zi's food was ready. The meat had become warm and the bread needed little heating. Nothing seemed to bother them this night.

Darkness descended and sweet sleep came to them after they had eaten and attempted to sleep.

16315828 8861015 12700073

Grimnir doesnt trust the splashes, not another Crocodilion, come on. He cuts himself and transforms into his Giant form, picks up a boulder and readies what comes next.

Iver grabbed the torch and handed it to thoruk, wanting for him to light it up. He grabbed the wood and continued after thoruk would lit up the torch.

Cardiloc awoke for the meal, and ate his meat hungrily. "We should leave early tommorow, arrive at my home at breakfast. We can rest up there, Ha'zi and I should leave for the Enedwaith at sundown. Dimitri you should head for the Isen." The dunlending suggested to the pair.
