XP System

A combo of points and 'score' from old EmpireWar.
Tim doesn't wanna add points, but stats in general will probably be added in the coming weeks. I had some kind of idea. The old score was an amalgamation of deaths and kills and stuff, in case you forgot.

Assists:
Assist on anyone: 1 XP

Kills:
Kill on someone with no kills themselves: 2 XP
Kill on someone with one kill: 3 XP
Kill on someone with two kills: 4 XP
And so on. In this way, it would work like the old points system.

Deaths:
Death: -1 XP
Also, 'Death whilst capping a flag' could give -2 XP for the thrills.

Flags:
I'm thinking either +5 or +10.
Or the amount could vary depending on how many people capped it or how important the flag is, etc.

Games:
You get a % of 50 XP depending on the % of time you spent in a game, on the same team. So if you show dedication to your team throughout the game, you get the full 50 XP. Very unrefined system, I am sure Tim The Wise could come up with some epic algorithm to find out a specific dedication score, which then gives you an amount of XP.

Most Valuable Player:
Just a straight sum of 50 or 100 XP.

I hope you get what I was getting at. A combination of Score and Points. Perhaps it can be used for something in the future, but probably it will just be like Score - for the leaderboard, and for bragging rights.

Very nice suggestion. I like the concept of XP in the place of score/points.

However I think a few things should be different:

Also, 'Death whilst capping a flag' could give -2 XP for the thrills.
I don't like this idea as it could discourage from trying to get flags, with the fast respawn and especially if skilled players are defending the flag you can lose a LOT of lives like this.

For flags I think everybody should get 1 experience point for each 10% captured. For MVP 50 points would be better than 100 I guess, I agree with everything else.

To add to your suggestion with XP, I think there could be a level system to complement it. Levels could start with like 20 XP requiring more XP for each level, which gets calculated exponentially. Because of how the XP system would work, the work required to level up will cause people to play more on the server, making the server more active and it can lead to more players and donations. To boost this effect I think there should be a reward for getting a higher level. Maybe one could get some cool level based bonuses. An example of bonuses for these could be: Aesthetic features for in the lobby such as fireworks, snowballs or particle effects.

Doesn't that just encourage people to run away from flags and avoid caps so they can whore stats?

Yes, you are right. Silly idea.

how much xp for killing yourself?
lets say you had 69 kills
u kill someone with 69 kills = 69+2 xp = 71
but you die so its -1
so you get 70 xp right? - ok

I am sure Tim, in his infinite wisdom, can figure out a way to stop you killing yourself.
