Things Die in the Forest
We
Know that a
Pine fell; and it crushed several
Fine
White lilies
That grow in that area
Of
The forest.
It seems another of these
Great
Titans squashed
And abruptly ended the
Lives
Of several
Young and green cedar saplings -
They
Were so brown -
No amber alerts or such.
Men
And women
And children flocked to save
What
Could be saved
Of those poor, fine white lilies;
But
No mourners
Offered tears to water the
Loam-
Covered graves
If those young, green-brown cedars.
For
You must see
They look somewhat like pine trees.
