ruler: Mile XXX
Goals: Hold the strait of Gibralta and get tons oh cash from it.
area: Where the southern half of Spain and Portugal would be along with the strait of Gibralta and the island right off the coast of the mainland. (sorry, dont know how to make a map)
Landscape: Mountains and coast make up the majority of the western area. Along the coast of Portugal and southern Spain. Central area is extremely fertile hill land and the Island has more fetile land. Across the strait are large forested lands.
Towns/cities: central Spain holds a large farming city that produces most crops for the republic. Coastal cities line all most all the coast lines minus the rocks cliffs on the far western border along the ocean. Across the strait is a large shipping center with many cities. On the european side is the industrial hot spot where the capital is. Milania hosts the name of capital although Gibralta is the largest city, stretching on both sided of the strait. The fortress city located in a cove near Milanea boast having no name. Only the captains of the vessels know the exact location of the cove.
People: Farmers of the plain are nice folk, generally generous and kinder than their western counter parts. The west has the warlike people who act as vikings on the strait. Many ships don't get by unless a toll is paid.
Government: Republic with 5 representatives from each of the 4 regions. 1 person is elected head and holds veto power.
Military: A vast navy of raiding ships as well as heavier war ships protects the strait at all times and some are stationed at the island. Land troops are more stationed in the east on the plains though the island holds its own army or infantry. The navy is given higher importance that ground troops. Has decent cavalry along the plains.
Military: Gibralta- 50 raiding long ships, 10 Galere, 15 Drakkar, 10 Droman 25,000 infantry, 6000 heavy infantry, 1000 cavalry.
Miltopia (island): 90 raiding long boats, 20 Galere, 40 Drakkar 30 Bireme, 10 Droman 9000 infantry, 7000 heavy infantry, 500 cavalry, 1000 guards of the kingdom.

Lowerland (plains area): 30 raiding long boats, 5 Galere, 5 Drakkar, 30000 infantry, 5000 heavy infanty, 10000 cavalry
Soldier's: Most infantry men are levies summoned from the surrounding country. The heavy infantry are more professional soldiers. The higher number in the Highland is due to the tribes more militaristic attitude. Cavalry are the horse riders who are all form the plains or from Gibralta.
Infantry soldiers carry, swords or axes. Many carry pikes and round shields. Some have chainmail but most wear hardened leather. The heavy infantry carry shields and have some plate mail. They carry swords, axes, maces, any weapons they get their hands on. The cavalry carry a small round shield and a long sword or lance. Spears and javelins are also used. Archers are scattered in different amounts throughout the armies. Mostly light infantry men who come from hunting lands carry a longbow. Guardians of the Kingdom are the elite soldiers of the Republic. Each carries a large sheild and a long sword. The armor is chain mail with plate armor over it. They are the best trained and the strongest soldiers of the Republic.
Ships: The raiding long boat is the traditional long boat. A large mast and shallow belly allow for good speed. Galera are mostly used for moving troops. During naval combat these ships stay in back and hold troops. Long boats may make several trips to transport troops to the land.
drakkar are the largest and are the most used ships after the long ships. Built with good speed and amply storage, these ships destroy others in combat. The men serving on most ships are professional sailors. The raiders carry axes and other weapons of war. Many carry round wooden shields. A good amount have chain mail from the raids on ships and towns. When battling on the sea these troops carry long wooden pikes to hook boats and pull them close. On the Drakkar, a large burning pot is always kept. This pot is used to fire flaming arrows into the enemy ships. Bireme are only found in the ports of Milanea. Equipped with a large ram at the front, these ships mostly do battle at sea though they can sail into shallower water. Dromon are the seldom used destroyers of the Milanean navy. Equipped with a ballista and two harpoon launchers, these ships are designed to whipe out those who oppose the fleet.
Placement of troops in cities: Most ships are stationed in the capital of the republic. The city of Mileania, holds only a small amount of troops but if needed can call from the other areas. Gibralta, the largest city in the republic, hosts the largest total fleet. Used to control the straight, these ships patrol daily. Most cavalry is in the plains area.
History: The history of the area was only written out when the people of Milania first invaded. First sailing to the plain land, the people of the area never fought back. Immediately they yielded to the army before they even landed on the coast. With troops from both areas, they marched on the mountain lands. Brutal fighting took place and the final victory was won by Mile XXV at on the mountain plateau of Raiders Bane. There in one final battle, the mountain folk and raiders of the higherlands lost to the Milanean forces. After their victory, the taken raider ships and the Mileanian fleet sailed across the Gibralta and took the land there.
