Skirmish: Rivendell vs. Goblins

((You do have platforms atop it, but sure, so they scale the stuff. And oh crap I forgot about the traps. And no they're not spawning random stuff. It's just rope.))

Suddenly, Ds's men let loose with the traps and an avalanche of rocks rains down on the forefront of the remaining troops in the pass, killing many and sewing chaos, which is assisted by some pit and snare traps going off in the advancing forces, trapping and deterring several.

Ds's men ((who should've slain hundreds with that formation)) fall back to the next tier. The avalanche covers them, as goblins have to climb over a pile of rocks. Beepbobit stays at third. He begins casting a spell (basic lore master stuff) to summon rainclouds. Just rain, no lightning strikes on them or anything (yet). However it only rains on the goblins.
 
((We haven't taken the tier, I just said they started to scale it.))

The Goblins howl as the avalanche covers many of them, and pandemonium rains, literally, as a shower begins above their heads. The Cave Trolls begin to clear away the rubble, slowly, while the Goblins reassemble. They form ranks, every now and then a snare being set off and causing a miniature wave of chaos in a section of the army, but eventually they get it under control and begin to rain arrows over the blockage. Many fall behind the barricade, and ((if any Elves are there)) several are wounded, while some lucky shots find their way onto the barricade and slay one or two.

((I already fell back. They do not know that tho. I also still have archers shooting from the second tier))
 
((Ofc you did, otherwise you'd be under the rubble. Stahp pointing out mistakes that aren't there and play. :P ))
 
*beepbobit's men continue firing at the incoming goblins, who have probably at this point taken the undefended first tier, but then have lost their cover as they are no longer behind a wall.
 
Goblins drop periodically. The trolls have, by this time, cleared away much of the rubble and first tier, and now the Goblins are retreating under fire, shrieking.

Retreating? wow ok
*blows his horn, telling ds's men to hold position until another horn is sounded
 
You wait 20 minutes, and suddenly a great horn sounds, long and fell, and the tramp tramp tramp of many feet is heard, the clank of metal bounces onto a wall, then onto another, echoing down the pass. Evil voices taint the air. You see coming down the pass the forces from Mount Gram. They're Goblins, and many large Orcs of the mountains. Their banners are black and crimson like bloody scabs. Some ride wargs. They have several Cave Trolls with them, as well. They have combined forces with the remainder of the High Pass troops to form a company estimated at around twelve hundred Orcs. Yurtagh, their Gundabad leader, rides a great warg at the head. His standard is decorated with scraps of uniforms from Dunedain and Elves. He wields a great battle axe of iron, its handle carved from the femur of an Elven leg. He shouts in Orkish, and the company returns the yell, their noise increasing in volume. Those in front carry tower shields made of plates of iron, wood, and hide smelted, nailed, and stitched together. These they put up as a wall against arrows, and the front three rows do the same above their heads.
 
Oh damn, ok.
*beepbobit is struck with fear, but quickly regains himself. He orders the men to fall back and gather horses. He and his honor guard stay to protect the third of 7 tiers, but will fall back as neccessary.
The men are also ordered to clear the two furtherestback tiers so the horses may charge
 
By this time they have stopped, just out of range of arrow or spear, and the Cave Trolls have begun to tear up great rocks and hurl them at the barricade. Five, six, seven smash into the pile of wood and stone and carts, splintering wood. The front tiers begin to crumble.

I am the high lord of Rivendell and we shall hold the bridge with our infantry while our archers will down open the goblins behind cover. They will not be able to enter Rivendell as we shall stop them at the bridge. I have actually had a siege similar to this on MTW 2 lotr mod and this worked.
