The first two tiers are nothing but splinters and rubble by this time, and the Goblins begin to charge forward, while the Cave Trolls take up great ash clubs and begin to flay the Elves.

That's a liitle meta but I think it makes enough sense..
The Elves bang their spears and swords on it, and blunt several of them, some spear-shafts splintering. Several attempt to kick the cliff, and their legs are sprained.

*the goblins are found sleeping on the path, due to staying up late the night before watching The LOTR trilogy on netflix. Feeling disheartened once they wake up, seeing that the movies/books make sure they lose, they decide to leave and enjoy the new wifi that Sauron built for them in Mount Gundabad.*

The goblins wake up and marsh to rivendell using an armored troll as shield.
archers on the trees shoot the elves aiming from inside.
