Endo couldn't even bother to scream as he heard something chasing behind him. He kept running, ducking between the undergrowth and running for dear life.
She spotted him below her. The boy was trying to get away! How pathetic.
Berethor and the older Endo continued running in opposing directions. At this point, neither expected to survive. The entire situation was fucked from head to toe.
-------------------
"You have no right to ask a single question." The voice said solemnly, absolute. "And as to your claim, I shall be the judge of those actions. Be they righteous or otherwise."
Then Thoruk and Cardiloc saw the entire sea of white glowing until they could see nothing but the light and many images came to them. It was as if they were alive once more, experiencing everything as if they were there.
They witnessed every action from the outset of their lives. From their childhoods up to the moment, Cardiloc grasped ahold of the Silmaril and using the last of his energy, his lifeforce, to cast its power out to slay Aranel. Thoruk's body had disintegrated in the aftermath and so had Cardiloc's. They truly were dead. So...this was the afterlife then?
"You claim your actions were purely for the benefit of others. For 'the greater good'. Why then did you, Thoruk Ironbeard, forsake your allies upon the island when they needed your aid?"
Thoruk saw himself sitting in the sand building a sandcastle whilst everyone including Marco and Sam fought Pyrus.
"And you, Cardiloc son of Cardinoc, you never once attempted to make good on your promises to your sister. You left her to rot whilst you chased after a maiden you desired, convincing yourself that it was for the benefit of Arda. All you sought out was your own ill-willed sexual gratification. Abandoning your mother to her fate as a captive of Manwe and your sister to a life of loneliness. A life that has resulted in this,"
Cardiloc was shown a series of scenes.
"Hello, Ela." Miriel was sitting by a bench outside the Eldrith household.
"Aunty Miriel?! You're back! They told me you were gone!" Ela was returning from the school at this time and ran to Miriel's side. It was the first time Cardiloc had seen her in years.
"I was. But now I'm here. Do you know where Ha'zi and your brother are?"
"Uncle Ha'zi? I-I haven't seen him in months." Ela thought.
"What about Cardiloc? Shouldn't he be around here somewhere?"
"He...he never came back. He left me and went with his friends. I...I've just been here. I don't know when he'll return. Maybe he went to save Mama." The little girl smiled at the thought.
Then he saw Miriel walk her through the gardens, talk with her, spend time with her, and it became apparent that Miriel had spent more time with his sister than even he had. And he watched as she talked to her about life, about the world beyond Gondor and about the many things out there. Ela's curiosity was spiked, she was overjoyed and her wanderlust grew. Miriel and her walked throughout the festival and the redhead treated her to a baby mumakil, one of those things Ha'zi had taught Ela about on their flight to Gondor, then he saw as it all began to unfold.
"Hello, Ha'zi. Take a seat." He could do nothing but watch as his friend, his father-figure, the one he had abandoned was cornered alongside his little sister by Miriel that monster. He watched as Miriel tortured Ha'zi and finally they kissed. For a second, he believed that they could go back. That everything would be fine...that she wouldn't-
"Until my enemies are destroyed."
"Ha'zi!" Ela screamed before Miriel's transformation blast consumed his best friend and his little sister.
Thoruk was there, alongside Cardiloc. Watching hopelessly.
"Had you been there that day. This would not have come to pass."
They saw Miriel step on Aragorn and proceed to kill hundreds of innocents. The only one standing against her was Sigeric...the one man who had always remained behind. Who had chosen to protect his friends above all...even though he was an ambitious cocky bastard he was the only one left...
"Instead of following your friends, instead of protecting your sister, instead you chose a different fate. You, Thoruk, chose to murder two innocent infants in the hopes it would prevent one of them becoming evil. Alongside many other innocents in that village including Yellena who had only been kind to you. Those children...were the children of your friend Ha'zi. Your friend who has perished. How do you believe he would feel if he had survived? To find out his friend, Thoruk, had chosen to murder his own children? To find out Cardiloc abandoned his own sister in order to lust after an alternate version of his daughter? All in the name of 'the greater good'. You may both be delusional but these facts are the solid truth. And no matter how much you deny them, they will always be true."
They then saw another vision. The aftermath of what happened with Aranel. She had transformed and now she proceeded to kill Endo, Berethor and the older Endo all in that succession. The two older ones had come after Cardiloc choosing to protect their friend instead of listening to him. And instead, they lost their lives. All of them. They were all dead. Because of them.
"You are both ultimate failures. You were granted the powers to protect the world and you so callously wasted them. Justifying it for your people or for the world, when in reality, all you ever sought was power and greed. Disgusting. You did not deserve to die so quickly. You should have been tortured for the calamities you have brought upon those you love. Perhaps it would have been better if neither of you were to have been born. Neither could save their families, neither could live up to their false promises, neither could save anyone, not even themselves."
-----------------------------------------
Berethor rushed toward the edge of the citadel carefully and gazed down at the fields below. Miriel was impaled on a spike. She needed their help immediately. He looked at his palm and whispered to himself, "Hang on Mirecy." Then cupped his hands around her and jumped, his back scraping against the stoneface rock of Minas Tirith as the Armoured Giant fell.
----------------------------------
Dina's eyes lit up and she kissed him but before she could take her leave. Arandil heard grinding and an earsplitting crackle from above him...
----------------------------------
"Non of yar bizniss!!" Raddis grunted as his fist smashed Dimitri's armor over his hand, crumpling it. Dimitri felt intense pain, his hand was bleeding as the armor squished into his skin. A big black hand came up to grapple with Dimitri's face.
Daugo tried to create flames out of his palm but nothing occurred. His powers weren't working?
Tamara was left cornered between Dimitri and Raddis on one side and the other soldier on the opposite. The man seemed to be sitting back and watching.
------------------------------
Boom.
The bolt fired by the men on the scorpion near his feet hit her beneath the chest, blowing up a portion of his spike. It cracked and the Savage Giant fell just as Sigeric's bolt passed her. He had missed. She began to stand, her torso had the tip of the spike still skewered through her while the imprisonments had somewhat caused one of her arms to drop. She was down to only the bone-blade and with fury, the Savage rushed towards the Guardian, roaring and charging through the empty field.
"FIRE!" Vardamir yelled. A number of explosive noises to Miriel's right went off and she raised her bone-blade up to protect her face as a number of shells smashed into the Savage, exploding and turning her bone-blade and right arm to dust. A number of soldiers by her feet netted her legs and immobilized her with spears and pikes and stakes. A single bloody green eye stared back at Sigeric as she faced him. She was completely vulnerable.
--------------------------------
The night was silent outside Morgoth's fortress. The wind was soft. Thirty-figures leaped over the walls in complete silence and entered the building, opening a hole and shutting it. Their assault had begun.
Vana followed behind her sister Yavanna as Aule led them. Their plan was simple. Neutralize the Balrogs and anyone else inside the castle. Capture the Trickster. And imprison Morgoth with the new Againor. With them was Nessa, a number of Ainur including Olorin also known as Gandalf the Grey, the two blue wizards, and Salmar. It was the largest undertaking of Eru's loyalists. Mandos had told them that Sauron and a number of Morgoth's minions had been deployed to fight the realm of Gondor leaving the Dark Lord vulnerable. This was their best chance.
If they failed here...the world would be doomed. So they could not fail. They would not fail.
