VENTURES INTO THE REMOTE (RP)

Sigeric's first instinct, of course, was to view the cord as a weak point. "One of two things will happen," he thought to himself. "Either I cut the string and the Giant loses its power, or it becomes free from the ground, making me look like a bloody fool." He decided that it was worth the risk. Sigeric ran forward while the Guardian was distracted by Cardiloc, and brought the axe-blade of his halberd down upon the cord.

Dimitri woke up briefly, looking at his legs. They were there, yet at the same time, they were not. "My legs... what... my... my..." he mumbled, before passing out. The last thing he saw was the Dwarf giant rushing down the mountain and a tall man standing over him with a whip in hand.

As Sigeric cut the cord the entire body of the Guardian Giant went slack and fell to the ground, dead.

The Warrior's managed to grab a hold of the Dwarf but the thing opened its jaws and ate his right fist, completely destroying it. The Dwaf spun around and scrapped the Warrior's face, cutting his eyes. Ha'zi couldn't see a damn thing. All he felt was the pain as his giant was cut up by the Dwarf.

Cardiloc saw the Guardian disabled and looked to see Ha'zi getting destroyed (raped) by the Dwarf Giant. Then he noticed a man running towards the battlefield out of his eagle's periphery vision. Eonwe!

Sigeric wondered what was down in the cord...

Daugo throws his arms up. "Listen here. Those people over there? They've been training for this their whole damn lives, or suddenly inherited unnatural powers. We have neither training, nor powers. So don't ever feel ashamed or cowardly," he says, feeling like a wretched craven. "Heroes will always be the first to die, and we'll be the ones left to tell the tale. So eat some melons, rest, and we can discuss what to do when Dimitri gets here. I'm going to get him now. You got this, Celeste?"

The Warriors roars in pain and tries to swat the Dwarf wildly with both arms. He tries to smash it with his left fist, too.

Dimitri faded in and out of the fair darkness, but he remembered seeing that damn whip every time. He knew he had to get moving. But how? His legs were virtually non-existent. But his arms were still there. Perhaps he could drag himself to safety. He looked at the street leading away from the city and stretched out his hand, grabbing one of the cobblestones. PULL.' he roared in his mind. He dragged himself a few inches, then repeated. 'PULL.' he roared over and over, till that was the only thing he heard.

Daugo sprints like a slightly overweight hare among the destruction left by the giants, looking all over for that brave brute, Dimitri. "Where is the man?" he wonders, slightly worried, as he reaches a surviving wall. Then he sees Silesia and Sam, and decides to make a run towards them, but... where was Dimitri?

Sam was propping his sister against him as they huddled together away from the carnage. The Gondorians saw the hobbit and Sam called out, "Where's the others?" to Daugo.

Osk was dazed for a moment and got back up. He was still holding Elodrin's body when he found Dimitri.
"Do you want me to carry you or would you like to keep crawling?" The big lug said.

The Warrior's right arm was unable to hit much but his left fist smacked into the Dwarf, yet, that did little as the Dwarf grabbed onto it, hanging on the Warrior and opening its jaw, it ate the left fist as well. Ha'zi couldn't see, couldn't feel his hands and was barely able to get his bearings. The bastard was strong as nails. His jaw was a problem. It could bite through anything then some. How would he even get this thing off? All these thoughts occurred to Ha'zi as the Dwarf Giant crawled onto his back like a monkey piggybacking the Warrior Giant.

"As safe as anyone can be in this place. Come, I'll lead you. Where's Dimitri? And... this is it? All the survivors?"

Sigeric watched with interest as the Guardian fell over. Surely it couldn't have been that easy. His eyes followed the length of the cord to where it disappeared into the ground. Could that be where the Shifter resided? He approached the spot cautiously. Did he truly desire the power of the Giant? He had spent time reflecting on the nature of the creatures' immortality, and was deeply conflicted. On the one hand, it would offer him inhuman power - the power to control his fate and leave a deeper mark on the world than he would have ever thought possible. On the other hand, immortality could be a curse. He could become entrapped within the machinations of the gods, deprived of free will in his mission to stop the Enemy.

Cardiloc dived down at the Dwarf Giant clambering all over Ha'zi and began to maul at its neck with its talons, attempting to rip that damned dwarf out.

"Dimitri? Oh-" Sam said looking across the destroyed street to where Osk was picking up Dimitri and hauling him onto his back with Elodrin's corpse on the other shoulder. Daugo saw the state the brute was in, even if he was a brute, it was still his friend. "Shaza, este, koranulizinarbulinur." Illmare spoke in a strange language which sounded too harsh to be Elvish and was nothing like Westron or the Common tongue. It was nothing like Iver had heard as he watched her place her palm on the forehead of the Elemental Shifter and saw his face begin to light. His eyes and mouth began to protrude light as if he were transforming but Illmare kept her palm over him and slowly the light dissipated leaving the body. Iver saw the helix mark on its neck burn and slowly began to form on Thoruk's body.
"There, it is done. Take Thoruk and let us leave." Illmare said looking around for any other survivors before mounting Iver, without his consent, and riding him. 14628767

Peering down into the dark earth Sigeric saw a small cavern had been created by the Guardian. It was coated in the same material it had used to make its weapons, some hard organic substance. In the middle of the cavern, connected to the organic cord, was a shard of some sorts. He could see through the shard, it was luminescent like a diamond, and within he saw a woman. She was dressed with old-fashioned laces and wore a proper lady's dress. Something similar to those high-status women of Dale that his mother had always encouraged him to marry. Her eyes were opened and for a brief second, he thought they moved.

---------

Cardiloc's claws raked its nape and a loud SCRUNCH occurred. As he looked back he saw the nape of the Dwarf Giant had been completely sealed over by some armor. What? Could it do that? Now it was virtually indestructible. The Dwarf turned to see Cardiloc but did not engage him, he kept holding onto the Warrior's back, riding Ha'zi's giant. The two stared each other down, seething hatred between each other.

Ha'zi was slowly healing. He could feel his fists returning but it was taking time. His eyes as well though he could still not see. What was going on out there?

Eonwe rushed out onto the battlefield to see what was happening. The entire city was wiped out, the volcano erupting, the Warrior being ridden by the Dwarf whilst the Hybrid fought it, the dead Destroyer decaying in the background, the corpses of horses, men, women and even the Guardian Giant scattering the bloody valley-floor. It was a massacre. Why had the Valar done this? Why did they cause such death and destruction? Especially to innocents? People who never wished to be in such a scenario. Why had they sent him here to watch this? To torment him? To punish him? These questions plagued him but he wiped them away. The Valar know what they are doing. I cannot question them, he told himself, again and again like he always did, ignoring their faults, failures and flaws. Eonwe unsheathed his blade and called out,

"Cardiloc! To me!"

Sigeric was surprised at the appearance of the Shifter. He had assumed that she was a woman, but he had expected someone more akin to a warrior. He cautiously approached the shard, readying the blunt hammer on his halberd opposite the axe-blade. Sigeric had to be careful to capture and not kill her just yet. This decison was not made out of chivalry - Sigeric had witnessed the Dwarf Giant re-enter the battlefield, and could not discount the possibility of the Guardian transforming a second time upon receiving a mortal wound. The Dalishman raised his halberd, and brought the blunt end down upon the crystal substance.

The halberd bounced off with a CLANG. The crystal remained undamaged.

The ground shook as the Warrior jumped, the Dwarf gripping on for dear life, opened its jaws and prepared to bite into the Warrior's nape. Ha'zi's eyesight came back but his hands were still healing.

"Ha'zi," Eonwe shouted pointing at the Warrior Giant with his sword, "Will be eaten by the Dwarf Giant! Quickly, fly me over, Cardiloc." The Maia braced himself.

Iver saw what was happening. The Dwarf was about to kill Ha'zi. It's jaws would crush the kid. He needed to do something. FAST.

Sigeric looked at the shard more closely, as well as the rest of the chamber. Surely he couldn't have "killed" the giant only to come to an impasse here.
