VENTURES INTO THE REMOTE (RP)

Daugo receives Ilmarë's speech with more than a little cynicism. "So our options are to be left here to die doing what these Valar want, or to try and return home and die doing what the Valar don't want us to do. Sounds like a shit hand we've been dealt." He looks over to his little posse of insurgent thinkers, then back at the Maia. "I s'pose I'd rather die trying to get back home." He didn't add that he would be abandoning them all as soon as he got the chance if things seemed fishy.

Illmare glanced over at Thoruk, "If we defeat the Valar, you will lose the Powers of the Giants as they are directly tied to the Powers of the Valar." Her eyes roamed over the room, "Dimitri, Sigeric, Cardiloc, Grimnir? What say you to this plan? Go out in silence or go out fighting?"

Pyrus, presumably on guard outside the cave, heard something. Some sort of animal call. It was eerie and quite strange. It came from the beach? No, not the beach, the sea... 15756962

Sigeric stepped forward from the group, a grim look in his eye as he weighed what Ilmare had just told them. He still mistrusted her, but he believed most of what she had just said. It made sense, and corroborated what Eonwe had said. It did not, however, explain the actions of the Trickster. He would ask about that later.
"I thank you for your honesty, Ilmare. This is what Eonwe would have wanted, I am certain. I cannot claim to be surprised by the extent of the Valar's deception. I suspected something of its nature. If you truly wish to lead us back to Middle-Earth, then I will accept your proposal. My time in this world is not over. I will not be forced to leave it due to the mistakes of the Valar. I have only one question, for now. How will we, a group of shifters who have only had our powers for a few days or less, defeat the Valar themselves?"

Dimitri would be found using his warhammer a fair distance from the main camp. His skills were rusty, so he practiced against makeshift targets made of wood and drained coconuts. "Ah, Ha'zi! Good to see you, my friend!" Dimitri exclaimed with a wide smile
But he saw that the boy was upset, he had told far too many brothers and parents that their loved ones were dead. "What's wrong, lad?"

"I do not know the limits to your powers. All I know for certain was that Morgoth designed the Giants as formidable weapons against the Valar. Whatever powers that lay within you must hold some secret to defeating them. To unlock that secret you must use your powers and train yourselves. Most of you have limited to no use. So, before we engage the Behemoth, I would suggest training with the Powers of the Giants. Is that a reasonable notion?" Illmare answered Sigeric's question and returned it with another in regard to the Giant Shifters.

"I don't get this. If the Valar are supposed to be these nigh-almighty beings, even more powerful than you and Yonwey, then, how will these shifters defeat them, if a ragtag band of starving mortals was able to kill each Giant?"

Pyrus would grasp his warhammer with two hands while it lay resting on his shoulder. Stepping back into the darkness of the cave he would move to the other side to better see the ocean. He would scan high and low. However he wouldn't go inside to tell anyone yet.

((Bubbled)) "My f-father... Illmare told me... he's dead," Ha'zi says. He looks up at Dimitri with eyes evident of crying, but it's obvious he's trying to keep a straight face. "I don't really know what to do.. so.."  he steadies himself, then says fiercly, "So I'd like to train." She turned to Daugo, "That is precisely what I intend to find out. Morgoth experimented for centuries to find a way to defeat the Valar or so the tale goes. Somehow the end result was the Eight. And the Valar can be killed or so it is rumored. The closest to death was Morgoth when his original form was destroyed during the War of Wrath when the Valar sought to put an end to his meddling. His spirit, however, was placed in the void. If the Valar had wanted to kill him they could have and it is prophesized that he would die during the End of Days where a hero would run the blade Gurthang through his heart. This would end the spirit of Morgoth. Certain weapons like Gurthang and the Valar blades can be used to slay the Valar."

Pyrus could see a large form in the water. It was completely submerged but quite humungous from even his vantage point. He could only make out a portion of it and it seemed dark and silent under the waves. It didn't appear to be moving or showing any signs of life but there was something eerie about its great shadow in the sea. 15756962

Pyrus would raise his eyebrows before turning around and walking inside the cave. Seeing the mass of people he would say "I need two people to come with me to check something."

"Hm.. so we only lose the powers" Thoruk says. "That means we won't have more power to crush the orcs in the grey mountains than our own power. Thought it would be easy, but now..." he thinks as he looks onto his axe. "Well, if you speak the truth Maia lady" he pauses to get his sharpened axe onto his back again before adding "You can count me in." Thoruk turns towards Pyrus who had just come in. "I'm in too, I just wonna get out a here lad."

"All three of you listen close. I'm going to take you all outside, I'm going to point something out to you, you won't say a word or make a noise or else I will take measures to protect the group, after this I will bring you back inside and you will tell everyone what you saw. Understood?"

Grimnir stands up with his rune Axe, "not even the Maiar can match dwarven forgings." He heads towards the group. "Aye, im going. The group needs a Grey Dwarf. As usual, not another Gondorian to lead them to death."

"Very well, however you are no special than the others, you'll abide by my rules also." He'd tell Grimnir as he led the group to where he was previously standing. Letting go of his warhammer for a second he would point to the shape in the sea. Where he pointed the others could see a large form in the water. It was completely submerged but quite humungous from even their vantage points. They could only make out a portion of it and it seemed dark and silent under the waves. It didn't appear to be moving or showing any signs of life but there was something eerie about its great shadow in the sea. Letting go of his warhammer he would then tap all three of them on the shoulders and motion for them to follow him back inside.

Daugo's mind was in a flurry. Ilmarë appeared to be telling the truth, but something about the whole situation seemed rotten to him. Maybe it was just the whole unfairness of it. But maybe it was something else. What if, indeed, the Valar had sent her and Eonwë to get them safely to Valinor and live as immortals? What if Ilmarë and Eonwë had plotted this out, and were planning to use their powers to overthrow their masters and become the rulers of the world? Maybe the Valar didn't even know about the angels' little mission.

And this was all assuming that the shifters did indeed have the power to defeat them. Ilmarë's explanation was full of fancy Elvish names and prophesies, but Daugo didn't live in the world of Beren and Lúthien, of Fëanor and Fingolfin, of Melkor. He lived in a practical world where you either have the means to do something, or you don't. And it was apparent, from all the evidence so far, that they did not.

He frowns. "Say that you're all able to fight them, then. What will us regular mortals do during that whole affair--or afterwards?"
