EW in 1.9

So the evil patriarchy of the big brother, known as Mr_KekkieSmorf evilly supressed the previous post, so I will have to waste valuable forum space to bring this matter up again. I quote Mass_Explosive's post in many cases:

So I've been checking out the new 1.9 snapshot and just seeing what all is new and what has changed. This got me thinking about how this would affect EW. So in particular the below got me really thinking of changes that could happen to EW both good and bad.

1. Different tools now have different attack speeds.... Slow trolls? :(
2. Axes now more powerful while picks less powerful
3. Haste increases attack speed
4. Arrow Potions (Haradrim?)
5. Lingering Potions
6. Shields (op Guardians anyone?)

If Tim ever reads this, can you give us some idea as to when we will update???

How do you think current classes should take advantage of the changes? How is PvP going to change?

maybe the nazgul class should have to use elytra wings when they dive to kill a player, that way they would move more realistically. While at the same time giving them a resistance buff during the dive, maybe resistance 2-3.

i dont think so, you it would be hard to switch between, and if nazgul only had elytra they could not fly unless they were very high up. If a nazgul was say, ontop of morgul, they would still lose glide until they were stuck on the ground.

I do think that the highlight from the new arrows could be great for highlighting certain things such as berserkers and possibly constructers.

As far as levitation goes, it could be a wizard perk instead of flamethrower perhaps? So you could levitate and move around trolls, swordsman, etc. for a few seconds.

The only changes I want to see is possibly the use of the shields for classes, poison arrows, trolls have longer hit cooldowns (every other class stays the same cooldown as 1.8[no smiley face please]), a few blocks can be added to the maps for detail like the end brick and grass path, and finally keep elytra bs and levitation/spectral crap out of ew.

I'd say the most useful things that 1.9 adds are the new blocks for building, haste and mining fatigue affecting hit rate (now it'll actually affect trolls, poison arrows, and possibly proper shields. Dual wielding is kinda meh, since you can't actually attack with both weapons at the same time, but it could make for some unique classes. You could dual wield a normal sword and a knockback stick so that you can easily switch between them (or something along the lines). As unique as Elytra are, I can't think of a single use on EW since they only allow gliding. Sharpness and Prot were nerfed, which means rebalancing those things will be required. Cooldowns on weapons are interesting, and axe's damage was buffed to balance it, so it might actually work out. I do see an issue with hoe's having a much higher attack speed, so pikemen will probably need mining fatigue. Classes that use items as weapons probably also need a speed nerf since they hit much faster than anything else. Dwarves' pickaxes might need a speed buff or damage buff to balance things. The wiki says armour now protects less overall. "Armor points count for less as the attack strength increases". That will cause issues. Strength was nerfed from +130%/260%/390% to +3/+6/+9 damage. Classes will have to be changed accordingly. Swords can no longer block which does nerf them, but they do have a new "sweep" attack.

tl;dr Tim's going to have one hell of a time updating to 1.9.

Don't forget the resource pack improvements for damage values! You can have different textures for one type of weapon/armor, which could make EW awesome with Gondorian gear, Orc gear, and more!

Ah yes, quite right.
If someone was willing to make textures, each team could have a variant of an iron sword, bow, spear, axe, and even armor.

Well maybe not the spear, as sticks can't have durability. But pikes could.

Nah. Too anti-archer. It's why dwarves are the only team with a shield class.[/quote]
What about Goblin Shieldsman as a point class on Moria Gold? There is currently no point class for the Goblins on Moria Gold. It would counter the Dwarf shooty things but would get countered by Dwarven Hammerer because of the axe bash thing in 1.9.
