New Minecraft EULA

Not open for further replies.
I was interested in seeing how this would affect Empire War. And just as every other server - there is no real solution. The fact is, the EULA has always been there and it is only now being recognized because it's being pressured. It hasn't been changed to such a degree. It has remained practically the same ever since Mojang decided to cover all financial ends. They have ever right to stop ignoring the blatant abuse and illegal monopolization of Minecraft servers. There is no possible chance you could ever take this successfully to court as server owners have always been - or those who actually read the rules governing money within Minecraft - aware of it and it is implied that they understood the consequences. That, and Mojang can hire a bunch of very good lawyers as Cookie mentioned.

Just, stop ignoring it. Comply with it, as it only takes a report from a single player to take a server down. Who knows; the next person you ban may want to shut you down for revenge. Stop complaining about how unfair it is since it's perfectly acceptable and justified. Since they've decided to pressure the issue, they must be absolutely sure it won't affect them in a greatly negative manner.

Just popping in for the entertainment.

OK, in the US at least, this is illegal. Not the part about Mojang restricting the money that other people make off their own product/service; that's completely reasonable. The illegal part is taking away the perks and powerups that people ALREADY bought without giving them a full monetary refund. That is criminal. That is stealing. And they can't force all the server owners to refund their players, because the server owners may not have the money anymore.

They can't go through with this...the madness will end eventually, for some reason or another. Until then, I recommend that we try to lie low. Tim, we should probably try to hid/erase any evidence that EW still offers in-game perks for money. We may need to close donations for a while. Just hold out as long as possible, and if they come for us...then just give in and remove it all. I don't want to see EW in legitimate legal trouble, because that would just not be fair to the staff.
They decide what happens to their game, by hosting a server you HAVE TO accept their EULA, so there is no way around this.

Donate so and so for in-game points.
Then, after you have enough points, you can buy stuff in the points section, like *cough* commander *cough* and *cough* Nazgul *cough*.
Buying ingame currency (points) is not allowed either.
Tibby. Why not just IGNORE them, I mean.. Ignore it. Just don't pay attention.
They will delete my Minecraft account and probably those of other staff as well.
or... we could simply ask mojang with a professional letter for permission to host a server like this. its a option just saying they said yes to hypixel why not us? its a option worth trying
They didn't say yes to Hypixel. They already said they wont make exceptions for any servers, not even shotbow/hypixel.

Mojang won't listen to the petitions, they've made their decisions. Sooner or later, Mojang always gets what they want..

Have I said anything about buying points? You will just get these points for beeing supporter.

You're buying them that way. You can't sneak through the system, period.
OMG good idea use the money you earned to buy a server then host it yourself through that server then all you must pay is the energy bills!
And internet, and his own DDoS protection.
FUCK YOU MOJANG. I DONATED 217 EUROS TO MC AND THIS WHAT THE FUCK YOU DO TO ME???? I CAN'T EVEN OPEN UP MY SERVER NOW EITHER. FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU.
-Sorry for swearing EW team, but you probably understand why I would be pist
I doubt you donated more than one or two euros, you probably just payed to win. There's a difference.
or... we could simply ask mojang with a professional letter for permission to host a server like this. its a option just saying they said yes to hypixel why not us? its a option worth trying
No one gets special treatment, they said. I doubt that Hypixel gets special treatment, please link your source.
But lemme say something.. Do they have all the Lawyers to SUE EVERY server they see breaking those rules?
If they don't have, they can get. And once a few server owners get sued, the rest will just quit because it's not worth the risk.

You can't buy in game currency either.
Just accept that there isn't a sneaky loophole to this.
My friend said that you can still have the donations if every price for donations is the same... I didn't think that's what it meant though
Yea, if ALL players are donors, you can have them, but you can't divide people into groups.

This is what we have to do. If this does not work, then minecraft as we know it will be doomed. I am gonna shoot the fuckers who came up with this BS EULA stuff. I spent good money on the game and I don't even care what they say or not. In fact, we should have the right to sue Mojang for taking away our property that we got from donations.
It was an illegal business all the way.

Will you get a new account if they delete your old one?

Maybe to play Minecraft on other servers, buying a new one to keep hosting the server illegally would just cost more money as they'd keep deleting it and probably block my email/paypal from their stuff as well.

Atm I don't even want to continue with Minecraft, I'm sick of Mojang destroying all the fun we have by coming up with rules because 0.1% of the servers abuse the current ones. Punish those servers and not f*cking us.
Anyone know a nice CTF/Siege game that is fun and works properly?

Do you realize that if Mojang enforced this from the start THERE WOULDN'T BE THIS DAMN PROBLEM.

Empire War would had never been there in the first place if that happened.

"Don’t pretend to be us. Provide your customers with loads of info
If you do decide to monetise your server, you must clearly state that the purchase is not associated with Mojang, declare who the money is going to, and provide a purchase history and contact details. You should also check the legality of selling digital items in your specific region."

LOOOOOOPHOOOOOOOOOOLE

Mojang DOES NOT CARE about a LoTR 100 slot CTF server. THEY DO NOT CARE. The 10000 slot PvP factions server that give people full diamond armor when they donate are in trouble. In Mojang's eyes, putting money into suing a "small" server isn't worth it.

This is your server Mojang means to destroy! That's your community he will destroy! If they go through with this it will be your server that is destroyed, your minecraft experience they will ruin, your friends you will lose. These are selfish men knocking at our door! Let's go stop them!
