VENTURES INTO THE REMOTE (RP)

Ha'zi took in a deep breath.

"I-in my world." He muttered, "Y-yo-you were too stubborn like you always were. You ne-needed t-to see." Ha'zi's other hand waved across the horizon. "Look at it."

The entire land was ash. Barren stark ash. And dirt. Mud coloured dirt. As if the earth had been trampled on until the soil was no longer habitable.

The Captain Vardamir of the black cloaks looked at Arandil with a dim expression before opening his mouth almost regretfully.
"As you can tell, we're marching for it. This is as fast as we can go since the rowdy lot in the back are taking so long. And as far as I can see, that man has a scratch on his armor. There are a dozen men back there," he pointed his finger in the direction of the convoy's rear, "That are in much dire situation than he is. If you want us to hurry then reach the rear and hurry them up, soldier."

Meanwhile, at the far end of the convoy, Daugo toppled to the ground, falling into the bushes as something fell upon him. The Hobbit came face to face with Marco who was sleeping in the bush as a heavy weight pressed down upon him.

Erchirion successfully toppled the tiny man and managed to grapple him to the ground. They landed in a bush and the Swan Knight recognized the Hobbit as the tiny man and someone else beneath him, a ragged Gondorian-looking fellow seemingly sleeping in the bush like a lazy bastard.

No reply came from Irdis. Thoruk noticed the commotion in the rear of the convoy. Dimitri was conscious and Ha'zi was talking with Sigeric. The Haradrim was still armless. There was no sign of Cardiloc or Marco nor Daugo either. Where the hell was everyone? Should Thoruk ask the Dalishman?

"Yes sir" Arandil replied without any questions asked. He then made his way to captain Magath.
"Sir I know Im giving you another injured, but you can put both of them on the horse and take them to the hideout. Im going in the back to try and hurry the march up. Many men here seem to be in dire circumstances and we must hurry before some start dying."
Then Arandil remembered, he remembered his brother. Where was he? Was he with the convoy? Was he alive? Was he conscious again? All he could remember before leaving the cave in the valley was his brother laying there unconscious with Arandil's own cloak on his face to stop any bleeding. He turned to captain Magath once again.
"Captain, another thing, where is my brother? Is he alright? Has he woken up?" Arandil asked with hope in his heart.

He grabbed the hobbit firmly by his wrist, and hauled him up unto his shoulder. He then looked at the sleeping man, and tried to get him on his feet, first searching for weapons.

As no one of the survivors seemed to be in a condition to remember where marco was, Thoruk walks towards Sigeric and Ha'zi, who... still has no arms. "Ha'zi, your arms lad" Thoruk says, pointing at where his arms used to be with his axe. He then turns towards Sigeric. "Lad, have you seen Marco somewhere?" he asks the dalishman.

"Ok, my arms...? And Marco... Marco was with Card." Then that came to him. "Have you seen Card at all?" He asked urgently to the dwarf.

Magath's face was visible disturbed as he helped another man onto the horses. "Your brother...hmm..." He muttered, "There." The Captain pointed at a group of men laid upon a horse near the edge of the forest being led along by one of the rangers. Arandil saw his brother's body hanging lifelessly from the steed.

Erchirion found a broken knife on the sleeping man and the Hobbit appeared to possess some sort of concealed weapon under his belt.

"What's going on?" Ramdir asked to no one in particular upon hearing the armless boy and the dwarf speak.

"Shifters talking. Oh, and about your earlier question, I mean that it is part of being a shifter, meaning that all shifters have regeneration."

"I see, so in the end he died in agony. He felt so much pain and all that I had gone through to keep him alive was in vain." Arandil's grief and anger could not be hidden. But he tried to control it. As he began to cry he remembered there old village in Ithilien. He thought of going to burry him after they reached the hideout and he marked it down.
He wanted to give his brother at least a grave, for he felt endless sadness and grief for his brother.
But he was dead, and his soul passed on. He told Magath.
"Captain, I have one last thing to ask of you , once we reach the hideout, may I take his body and burry it in our old village nearby? It's the only thing I can do for him now."

"Card? Not realy lad, I thought you..." he stops as a man throws a question between their conversation. "What's going on? Well, we're searching for a few of our friends, but nothing in particular." he says, quite calmly although he hates it when someone breaks into his conversations. "But who're you lad?" he asks, looking at the man.

“So this is what... what that thing you described, the thing that is going to kill the Trickster, Sigeric and Iver. I’m so sorry for not trusting you, I just, I can’t give this up. I was going to bargain with it for my mother and sisters life. But that doesn’t matter, we need to get out of here. It’s too dangerous...”

"A message? From whom?" Sigeric asked, before Thoruk approached and entered the conversation. "The last time I saw Marco was before the incident with the Silmaril. I believe Cardiloc was carrying him. He seems to be missing too."

Before getting his answer from the man Thoruk hears the answer from Sigeric. "Hm, no one seems to know where he is..." he says, still waiting for the man to say who he is.

"From someone special. I need to tell you in private, though. Is that alright with you?" He asks the false noble, glancing around.

Iver watched Thoruk leave as he started rolling the events in his head. Angry elf talk shit, Hazi being an asshole, almost getting smashed by those gondorian, the weird Hazi/trickster/Card thingy, chasing card, card drop the gem, card drop Marco in the bushes. "I better go and check if he is still there" Iver said and started wandering away from the main group to the sides of the path. Did he still have enough power to run all the way back?

"No. It's just what remains. The creature is not here. Thankfully. I brought us back to the ruins of Ithilien. This is," He paused to look around, "Where the forest once stood." All around Cardiloc was black ash, muddy ground and dark hills in the distance for as far as the eye could see. There were no signs of life. Not a single shed of water or grass or even bone. Nothing. It was a black abyss that they stood in.

"You needed to see it for yourself, Card. Keep the Silmaril. It's not like it matters here. We need to find the others before it comes this way." Ha'zi stood and began to walk in one direction almost magnetically drawn to it. He stumbled a bit and fell, coughed some more blood up and struggled to stand as more scarlet blood flecked across the silted charcoal sand.

"Corporal Ramdir of the Security forces. And you?" The black cloak responded to Thoruk's question.

Iver had enough energy to reach the rear and he saw one of the black cloaks picking up Daugo and an unconscious Marco then taking their weapons and marching back to the convoy. Erchirion noticed a skinny man running towards him. Another deserter?

"You sure he's dead, Arandil?" Magath asked looking at the body. "I think you're seeing things. The boy's just sleeping. He's badly burnt up but if you're really worried go check. Valar forbids I'm wrong."

"Thoruk Ironbeard, envoy of the seven dwarven-folks. I'm a shifter, sent by my king Thorin the third to do what needed to protect our kind" he says, full of pride. "Mhm, maybe that was a bit too much, but no lie" he thinks, walking next to the others, looking at the convoy, everyone marching like they just captured somebody and were about to deliever them somewhere. "I'm not realy sure about where we're heading, what if they're leading us into a ambush lad?" he whispers towards Ha'zi.

"Eh, wouldn't be surprised. But the more likely form of ambush would be the strange sounds coming from the forest, which are really close by if you haven't noticed." Ha'zi replies, still waiting for a response from the Dalishman.

Arandil began to feel that he was seeing things often after staring at that damned gem. From valuable to gems being rocks to his brother being dead. "Sir I think I need to clear my head up, that gem might have messed me up more than I have thought." He went to his brother on the horse.

"Ah, whatever these noises were, if it wants to ambush us it will feel my axes. I might not be at my full power right now, but I'll try whatever necessary to get us out of here if needed" Thoruk whispers back, prepared for whatever could come, making sure the armless boy wouldn't lose his confidence.
