VENTURES INTO THE REMOTE (RP)

As Cardiloc pondered these thoughts, the others finished their meals and went about leaving the dining hall. Eventually only Berethor and Endo were left sitting at the table. How convenient.

"Ey, listen, man. Yeah, you. Wanna take a seat? Uh, we have a few things to say to ya." Endo called over to Cardiloc who looked like a frightened cornered animal. The two men were sat at the end of the long table and Berethor pat a seat next to him in response.

"Este. She will have the cure to my ailment." The Son of Tulkas began to unfurl a leather satchel of water and food and handed it to Dimitri, "You cannot possibly aid me. You are frail and weak. I will die here. Whether by Manwe's hand or the slow passage of time. Go, Dimitrius. Attempt to make your way in life."

The King listened diligently as Sigeric recounted the expedition into Mordor. When he finished, one of the black rangers, the man known as Hering spoke up. Aragorn tilted his head lightly, "You may."

13527980 15756962 16315828 14628767

The Haradrim sat down, embarrassed and annoyed his opportunity was taken by Sigeric. He wouldn't pay much attention to what the Ranger would have to say- for now, at least- and instead dwelt in his overwhelming awkwardness.

Arandil looked back at his brother who was back there. He sighed and said.
"Yes, let's get going, we don't wanna keep all the pretty ladies waiting. Besides I need some good ale."

"As we" He'd motion to the group of Black Rangers "Arrived we were soon after attacked by a man that can only be described as a Iron Hunter and his hounds who were able to launch spikes from their tails and backs. During the attack what I saw from the Karolti was a poor sight. Only Sigeric remained to help fight against the beast as it tried to take Dimitri away. Yet even then he seemed to care more about getting Celeborn to safety. What I noticed was a extreme lack of apathy for the Karoltis comrade. None of the others fought to help him and none of the others begged to help chase after him. Two Karolti are missing and I haven't seen any emotion course through them. If Dimitri comes back I fear he will be how the Destroyer was. Because of this I would like to propose for myself, or any other capable members under your service to gain the powers of this Karolti" He'd point to Iver "And any other who attempts to harm the Free People's. Included in this is my offer to personally lead an expedition to hunt and track down these giants of Morgoth."

"How dare you suggest that!" Ha'zi unexpectedly shouts, standing. A brief train of thought comes, desperately asking him what the hell he is doing and pleading for him to stop, but the Haradrim is too angered by Hering's words to care. "We are people, you asshole! People that, mind you, have also been affected by Morgoth and his forces. We've lost families, loved ones just because of being forced to obtain these powers! I doubt that your mother, father, siblings, or any family member have been taken away by the gods just for you existing!"

"As for Iver, yes, he's a dumbass. But he's family, unfortunately or not, and is a living person, not some item, like all of us. We are not used, we act and serve as individuals."

He stops for a moment, breathes, then starts again, calmer. "While we did have very poor combat efficiency in that 'Iron Hunter' combat, it was for good- and insanely obvious- reason. All of us just got out of the hardest fight we've ever experienced and were seriously spent. Some of us don't even have combat skills, mind you. Plus, it was an ambush, and everyone was recovering from the horrors and greatly dispirited."

"Same for our missing friends- we're still coming to terms with everything that happened up to this point. It's been hard to focus on just one thing, even if the disappearance of companions is a factor."

It is obvious at this point that Ha'zi is trying to figure out how to end this. "So... so... just remember, ranger." He says, with the last word coming out in a venomous matter. "We are people, not objects. We make mistakes. We have feelings, unlike you, it seems." At that, he sits back down.

"My job isn't to care. It wasn't when Orcs were still mostly around, it isn't when hunting criminals, and it won't change with you. It's to hunt and take down traitors and enemies of the Free People's. As Glorfindel said you are tools, and if we are to have tools it's best if some of them were ones we know how to use. With you all, some more than most proving to be untrustworthy I have a clear conscience."

"But you don't know how to use these powers. Our group and the ones who have been with us, like Marco, are the ones who have actually have had experience with them. Besides, whoever would kill one of us would have to deal with us, our memories, along with the first shifter and theirs. Do you really want Iver in your head, hm?"

"How can I leave this place? Its not exactly friendly towards those who control giants. One of its inhabitants tried to kill me when I visited my..." Dimitri began. There was a great chance he was near his parents, within a few miles or so. 'My parents."

"There's a difference in letting untrained people get powers and then people who have been trained by some of the most elite people in the current world, training makes perfect and training is what we do, frequently. As of having your memories, if that's a price I'm willing to pay for it if it means serving my king."

Ivar stayed quiet on the floor for a while, letting himself heal with closed eyes while listening to the others talking. "Isn't it funny?" He thought to himself, "It seems that the elf share more traits with Morgoth than he thought he did, both of them applied any means to achieve their goal, including attacking allies or people who simply didn't think their way" and at that point he made a choice. He is not going to stay at the white city, he is going home as soon as he can and there he will think what to do next.

Daugo felt bile coming up his throat. What was this strange emotion running through his heart? Did he actually... care? Without thinking, he opened his mouth, again.
"Threatening to kill those of us with no experience is not particularly wise, Master ranger. By this logic, you should start by killing me... and it would only be self-preservation if I were to, y'know, shift into giant form and blow everything into oblivion. Let us all calm down, come to our senses, and deal with what we've got. Nobody here need die, and certainly none of my companions will die today. We're all against Morgoth, after all. He must be having a merry time, with his enemies fighting amongst themselves."

Cardiloc found a peace of maggoty bread and brown stew leftover in a bowl. It was all that was left from breakfast.

"You cannot truly. Not without I. But neither can you save me in time. You do not know the layout of the land and you are hopelessly outmatched in any combat be it with the Eldar or the Ainur. All I hope is you make it far enough and hide, perhaps in the Woods of Orome and live out your years 'till they eventually find you."

8861015

"Well spoken, Master Hobbit." The King's voice boomed in. "It is not your place to make such suggestions, soldier. I know your heart is well placed and I, too, have had compatriots with such notions. Good men, of good heart, but misguided in their nature to do good." Aragorn remembered Boromir for a brief moment then continued, "No one shall die here today. And we shall prevent the deaths of countless others. Together we shall bring an end to Morgoth and protect Middle-Earth from our numerous foes." He rose from his seat and the Guards lowered their weapons.

"My fellow Karoltai, my Giants. I understand your hearts are in the right place. Our enemy is one and I shall see to it you receive the best treatment and training in order to help us combat this enemy. The blood of Numenor and the Karoltai shall work in cooperation on this matter, beginning first with those that shall remain in the lands of Gondor. I understand the Master Dwarf wishes to return North to his homeland. Should any of you seek such a request you may do so, yet, if any of you wish to stay...I shall personally see to it that you are accommodated in every way possible. You shall receive training from the most skilled descendants of Numenor and will have access to the great libraries, barracks, armories, forges, and fields of Minas Tirith. You shall officially be branded as a special fighting force of Gondor and will receive the obvious income and housing that befits a rank and title of that kind. From Gondor you will defend the Free Peoples and combat our enemy in Mordor. Whoever amongst you that is willing to fight alongside us, I bid thee stand. Stand and fight!"

"You are most gracious, lord, thank you," said Daugo, bowing slightly. Ever suspicious, he wondered whether this was not just a ploy to bind them even more strongly to Gondor and the crown, but there was no other choice.

Ha'zi stood and followed Daugo's actions by bowing, even though he personally thought this was a bit silly and unneeded because they already did this whole thing. But, whatever; as long as it inflates the guy's ego and gets them off the giants' backs, he's fine with this show.

Sigeric would also stand and bow, showing no emotion on his face while on the inside, a mix of emotions swirled around him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hering would also bow with the kings statement and turn to the Karolti "I apologize Karolti for my actions" He'd say, looking behind him at Glorfindel

Cardiloc took the stew, but not the bread, it looked disgusting. He then made his way over to the others and sat down with them. "So, what do you want to talk to me about..." He glanced at Berethor suspiciously.

"I assume you know who we are?" Endo asked Cardiloc whilst taking a sip of the strange tea.

12700073

----------------

Glorfindel's face betrayed nothing to Hering.

"It appears Iver and the Dwarf are disinclined to partake in this. Pity." The elf spoke, "King Aragorn," He addressed the man, "I seek no riches or glory from this but I wish to stay on with them. There is no point returning to Imladris. My fight is here. And Celeborn entrusted the fate of Arda as well as the fate of these..." he paused looking at the standing Hobbit, Haradrim and Dalishman, "People to me. I ask that I act as both a protector and watcher over them. I will repel any threats that seek to do harm to them while in my care, however, should any become wild like animals- I will not hesitate to put them down."

The King turned to the Karoltai and asked, "It is your choice. Will you allow Glorfindel to serve as your sworn shield?"

Iver's wounds had mostly healed by now. He was slightly drained but he knew he had enough energy to transform should he seek to. Surprisingly enough, he actually felt some soreness from Glorfindel's punches.

16315828 13527980 15756962 14628767

Daugo looked at Glorfindel warily, studying his chiseled features. He was not at all comfortable with the elf, thinking him unstable and a hazard to everyone, but he admitted that he was likely the best fighter on Middle Earth. He sighed. "With Dimitri gone," he said carefully, "I suppose we do need someone with actual combat skills besides Sig."
