VENTURES INTO THE REMOTE (RP)

"Yeah. I'm sure there's room since nearly everyone died." Arandil muttered half-jokingly and led Thoruk to the barracks. The dwarf was actually feeling soreness in his thighs. For once, walking was actually becoming strenuous as he finally reached the barracks and was led to a rather decent room. It would do for the night.

Thoruk dreamt a happy dream. Of him riding a bear with his father Trak over the Misty Mountains. It ended when he naturally awoke to the hubbub of the early morning market.

“Only the worthy can wield it? Does that mean just holding it or actually using it. I didn’t feel like it was any use to me while in my pocket, but there’s something else I need to know, Ha’zi.” Card stared at the Haradrim darkly. “Those words you spoke to me, when you... choked me, were they true? I’m not trying to do this for myself, I want to save my mother, and Ela; and all of us Karoltai; your all I have left.” Cardiloc sighed to Ha’zi. “The world just seems so cruel.” He said bitterly.

Hering would nod and think to himself to aim for the eyes and cut the heels if the Giants shift. But he would still grab some rope and leave room for food and drink

Daugo smiled affably. "Oh, it's no trouble, really. The laughter of a child is a mighty good cure to a lonesome traveler's weariness."

"Sure thing" He replied to Ela before he went on his night routine.
"Another fucked up day" Iver grumped and got out of bad. He hoped he could eat breakfast before he would join Marco's mom, who's name he didn't know, and visit Marco in the infirmary.

"Frankly, I don't know. I don't seem to be able to use them." Ha'zi answered then listened. He sighed. "Look, Card. I say harsh things all the time. I suppose it's who I've become. What I've become. Sometimes..." He laughed, a sad slow laugh, "Sometimes I don't even recognize myself."

"And I'm sorry. I really am."

The delicious smell of roasting bacon, burnt porridge, and fried eggs wafted through the air before reaching Iver's nose. He was greeted by breakfast served by the one and only Lady Eldrith. She dipped her head in courtesy and beckoned Iver to sit and eat. Ela was already there, a napkin tied around her neck as she ate, quite poorly using silver utensils. The barbaric savage that had once ran about after Cardiloc, Ha'zi and Miriel was acting very civilized. Yet in many ways, she still retained that wildness to her almost like an underflowing river feeding into the Long Lake.

Once they had everything they needed, the hunting squad made their way down through the levels of Minas Tirith. They brought with them two carts. One bearing their equipment, the other carrying their supplies.

The woman smiled at Daugo and whisked the child away. The boy reached his hand out to wave at Daugo as his mother bore him off. The night had come swiftly and a yawn erupted from the Hobbit's mouth. But before he could contemplate the notion of sleep, a couple horses flew past with two carriages in tow. He noticed the black cloaks of the rangers who had escorted them to the Gondorian city flying on the backs of the riders and suspiciously enough, he saw a flash of silver hair and a pointy ear as one of the riders shot past him. Was that.....?

They left through the main gate of the city and out through the townships of the Pellenor, heading north along the King's road and out of the Rammas Echor.

"Huh," he said, his curiosity peaked. What could Glorfindel and the rangers be doing leaving the city in the black of night. Surely they were up to some royally-sanctioned mischief. He walked a few paces in the direction they had left in and tried to get an idea of where they were heading.

“Hey.” Cardiloc patted Ha’zi on the back. “Sorry the world fucked you sideways, but, I’m going to stop that right? Look Ha’zi, I get that all that happened to you was horrific, unfair, cruel; but you can’t keep your past from me if I’m going to stop all the bad that happened. That’s why I asked Berethor about what happened.” Cardiloc explained to the haradrim.

"Ah, haven't slept this well in days." Thoruk grumbles as he slowly gets up and rubs his eyes. "Ah, I'd better get to the smith and find Iver and the others afterwards, we shouldn't lose anymore time travelling back to the north." Thoruk thinks, slowly getting up, almost a bit dazed from the good sleep.

Ha'zi stubbornly shook his head. "No Card, you don't understand. I-I'm sorry for," he exhaled, "For what I've done."

Daugo saw the caravan and riders head through the great shining gates of Minas Tirith before turning northwards on the long roads that led to the townships. They were obscured from sight by the shifting crowds and the walls. The Hobbit also noticed that the gates of Minas Tirith were a rather brilliant silver this night. They shimmered like Thoruk's helmet did in the darkness. It was quite a strange sight.

Thoruk could hear the noise of the markets outside as well as the soldiers gathering for their daily duties this morning.

Thoruk puts on his armor and was about to grab his axe as usually. "Oh, right" he thinks before walking towards the exit and walks out of the barracks.

"I've done too many things. But I'm not sorry for many of them. I've killed many people. Some who deserved it. I've served the worst people and betrayed the best. I even shook hands with the foe who killed Marco just so I had could protect the few dearest to me that were still alive. But those aren't the worst things I've done."

Ha'zi had been staring into the fire, yet raised his eyes up to Cardiloc and there was some wetness to them.

"You died because of my cowardice, Card. I failed to kill someone. I failed to face them. So, you went in my place. And because I was craven, because I couldn't bring myself to face..." His voice cracked and Cardiloc remembered the boy that he had first heard aboard that slave ship long ago, "To face my mistakes."

The food was shockingly delicious and Iver finished it in no time. Soon Lady Eldrith was waiting by the doorway with a train of servants for Iver on their journey to the Houses of Healing.

Thoruk saw scores of Gondorians marching to their stations from the barracks. It was the first time he saw a military as well disciplined as the dwarves. But then again, this was the first time he witnessed a mannish army at work.

13615485

"You seem astonished at the sight of our army. Do you think so low of us , master dwarf?" He says as he chuckles. "The Gondorian army is the most elite and disciplined armies you can find in the Kingdoms of Men. But alas, we are no match for the forces of evil that are waiting outside of our gates. I fear if Middle Earth does not unite, all will be lost, and darkness shall rein supreme." He would continue to chat to the dwarf while they would walk towards the smith.
"I pray the King takes the smith as I promised, or Ill have to face the full brunt of the ignorance of my kin. He will ramble and whine until the dust from my bones fade and is blown into the wind. But tell me, what is your oppinion on my kin? On the Gondorians and in general the men of Middle Earth, you never seem happy around them, master dwarf."

“Ha’zi... don’t blame yourself for that, you shouldn’t feel bad that I chose to go instead of you, and I’m sure my future self would feel the same. None of this is your fault, sure you made a mistake but you shouldn’t feel guilty about it. None of us should’ve had to face this in the first place; it’s just all a cruel game played by the Valar.” Cardiloc comforted Ha’zi.

“Berethor told me I went away, to fight this person called Beren, I assume he killed me in your timeline. Who is Beren?” Cardiloc asked Ha’zi.

As Thoruk looks at the gondorians Arandil comes towards him and leads him to the blacksmith while doing some smaltalk. "Well, I stand quite neutral when it comes to the men of middle earth. But after the things that happend in mordor and all the men hating us my picture of the gondorians has changed quite a bit. Yet still, your king seems alright and so do some of your kind aswell. You seem alright aswell. And I do not bare any hatred towards your kin." for the rest of the way Thoruk kept his mouth shut, looking at the white city and their people.

"You've gone quiet master dwarf. Tell me what you think of The White city? Glorious is it not? Anarion truly made this the greatest city of the Kingdoms of Men. I do not think Anuminas could be better than this gem of a city, not in it's glory days. But the only cities of men that could truly rival the magnificence of Minas Tirith would be the old cities in Numenor. I heard many tales as a child. I was deeply fascinated of that old empire. But alas, that bastard Sauron brought the end of that once great Empire. " He stopped, and turned to Thoruk.
" What .. what about your cities , master dwarf. I heard rumors that they are built into mountains. Can you tell me about your grand cities? I have heard very-very little of the dwarves in general. Would you care to tell me a bit about your kin and their cities?"
