VENTURES INTO THE REMOTE (RP)

Cardiloc saw nothing. Not a single soul on the streets. What in Udun happened?!

----------------------------

Aragorn smiled softly at the Forochelrim's gesture. It reminded him of a certain council not so many years ago...

Sigerics face would turn to that of a smug impression, it was quite annoying and infuriated many, in fact it made him have a face that looked like it needed a good square punch to the face “Remember when he captured us and brought us to his mansion? I told you! I guessed he was Oromë and look at that, I was right!” He’d say before suddenly a look of shock, confusion, and anger crossed his face. How had Dimitri figured out, and what didn’t he mean that the Trickster was working with Morgoth? This wasn’t good news at all, what did he know? He wondered scanning the memories of the man to see what events had occurred from the time he was captured up till now

Sigeric would look to king as he gave his speech and nodded “I am with you, the Karolti were bred to defeat the Valar, little did he know his own creations would turn against him.” He chuckled once more turning to the others “Dimitri, Daugo, Ha’zi, and Tamara. We are a nation at war, each of you should know the stakes for it is a dire game that we are playing. I know not where our fellow brethren are but I can assure you we are more than prepared regardless if they show, each of you will undergo specific training to successfully fit the role each of you will play in then upcoming battle if it is to come. Will you all join me, if not for me or Gondor then for your loved ones and the rest of Middle Earth?” He asked the four of then

Mateus although troubled and distressed after the recent events would continue to hold on to the idea of honor, duty, loyalty, and lawfulness above most things. He listened through the whole speech with full concentration impressed and absorbed with ever word that he spoke. Every word that the king let out was fine, well calculated, prepared, and logical and he would listen as if he was in a trance. "I will! And I shall serve your grace to my dying breath!" He cried almost instantly without thought after the king asked for his allegiance, raising his polearm up and offering himself and his will to his sire.

"Sigeric, I know you were hurt a lot by the lose of your halberd, but that doesn't justify ignoring me. I already said I would." Dimitri replied. Holy hell, Sigeric was really becoming an asshole. Ignoring Dimitri and what his king just said.

Daugo was dazzled by the splendor the already-majestic city had acquired, and observed its impressive new defenses with growing slivers of hope.

The meeting he was in provided a fascinating study in human behavior. The King was, as always, one of the few people capable of moving him to thinking beyond his and his family's needs. He was inspiring, and his very presence irradiated honor and charisma. His nobles told a different story, however, and foremost among these was Sigeric. Daugo noted with slight surprise that he had become, apparently, quite close to the King, but this seemed to have changed him in ways that were not entirely positive. He had always had a proclivity towards pompousness and exaggerated chivalry, but this spectacle bordered on annoying.

"Of course, you needn't ask. I will lay down my life gladly to save my children's world, for death is preferrable to the tyranny of the Valar. I failed Your Highness in the diplomatic mission, but I hope that I shall make it up in the battlefield."

The spiders followed Shelob down the Tower and away into the Cirith Ungol. Mirecyla felt a connection to each and every one of the children, having indirectly fathered all, and, though being in Minas Morgul had greatly expanded her capabilities, she was still feeling the strain of maintaining so many life forms at once. Summoning more was plausible, but it was likely that she would pass out from the effort.

Regardless of whether she decided to rest or not, morning arrived with a regiment of Orcs encamped upon the opposite side of the dike. They had arrived during the night, making their way down the Pass, and carried a black banner with a red circle of flames set on it--Sauron's coat of arms.

Mirecyla noted the energy spent with the spiders, she didn’t know how she had lost energy when she wasn’t even apart of the orgy but no matter, another day and another time to summon whom she wished, she’d need to be at full strength for when that happened. Curling up next to her fell beasts she’d quickly fall asleep

The next morning she would be woken up by an all to familiar horn, rising she’d spot the banners of Sauron along with the orcs marching under it, scoffing she’d get on her beast and fly down towards them, the fell beast letting out a horrific wail as she flew overhead, terror being spread as it did so. Landing in front of the group she’d sit high and proud staring down the orcs “What is it, I’m busy.”

"Do it! No... Do it!.. But... DO IT!" Tamara would discuss with herself like a mad lad.

"I-I fight for Gondor!" she'd get out of her mouth, as her answer allmost got stuck in her throat.

--------------

"Aye, that's a good question." Thoruk would answer, getting out of the decayed giant-body.

"Firstly we should find out where we are, aye?" he'd tell his father, sitting onto the ground, trying to feel if any life-source was around them, trying to search in a big enaugh radius also sorting out the weak life-forms, such as deers, from the stronger ones, probably beeing humans if there were some close by.

''I stand by my kin.'' he said as he stood up, giving his heart with a gesture. ''Never again shall I abandon my people. I shall live and die by them.''

That little weasel better had not betrayed him, Cardiloc thought to himself. There was nothing more he could really do, so he decided to return to the spot he had instructed Endo to meet him at.

Something began blinking in the distance. Something shiny. A signal?!

12700073

""Simply imprison him?" Sig, what in Utumno are you going on about? This is Morgoth, not some creature! How-"

Ha'zi's rant lost its steam as he realized a question was thrust upon the group:

"Whom of you shall give your hearts to defeat the Dark Lord?"

Without a second more, the Haradrim blurted out in all seriousness, "I shall, my liege," then internally sighed in relief. Can't warrant suspicion to his purpose, of course.

The shining stopped. It originated at the base of a few trees to the northern portion of the forest. He could see a someone down there waving at him...dark hair. Was that Endo?

---------------------

Thoruk located a number of signatures, most coming from the north-east. That's where they were...he was certain of it.

-------------------

"For Gondor!" Bastian cried.

"FOR GONDOR!!!!!!" The cheer went up among even the higher-ups, the prince of Ithilien standing with the others following suit. Belzagar was the last to stand yet he did not take up the cry or so Sigeric noticed.

When they quieted down the King stood, "There is much for you to become aware of. I shall leave it to Sigeric to inform you of the situation at hand. We expect the remainder of those attending to be here within the week. Possibly within the next few days. When they arrive, we shall begin the festival and unveil our knowledge to the Free Peoples. Until then I hear that Sigeric has some special drills he would like to test. Make use of our facilities outside the city to the north until then. In the meanwhile, I shall prepare to address the leaders of Arda and our lords and generals shall take command of the capital-garrison, the Rammas Echor townships, the port at Harlond and Osgiliath. May Eru bless us." The King discharged them and they were escorted out.

Belzagar met with them outside the war council. He dismissed his squadron, sending them to the Ered Nimrais outpost for 'special' training with the Mountain Corps. Tamara was relocated to Gondor's Giants alongside Squadron Five.

"You're a strong lady now, m'lady." Keratos smiled beneath his visor, "I'll see you in some time but you've got big things to do here and you no longer need us to protect you anymore." He said, behind him Mateus, Shin, Furdin and Kurio stood awaiting to take their leave. "Go on to your new friends. Don't be sad. Be happy. I'll visit you now and then, Lady Tam." And with that he left, ignoring her protests and calming her until she was passed off to Sigeric.

The Dalishman was clearly in charge of them all at this point. He had to round up Ha'zi, Daugo, the young Serpent Shifter and Dimitri who was, ironically, the most rebellious of them all. Fortunately, by following the halberd-licking noble, Dimitri could stay in contact with Tamara.

The next few days passed rather quickly. They journeyed to the city outskirts and performed a number of drills. It was there Dimitri was introduced to fire powder. He was inducted to transform and use his Dwarf in a number of practices where he would dodge the famed fire-spears. An easy feat for his Dwarf which was by far the fastest and most agile of their giants. Dimitri became incredibly efficient at burrowing through the earth, the cost was some energy expenditure as he had to continuously chew whilst within his giant which became annoying.

Ha'zi had his chances to broaden his mental and elemental powers whilst within his Warrior Giant. Finally. He could sense minds from vaster distances and conduct larger weather patterns, though he was limited in creating storms and other destructive forces of nature with the capital so close by, he could nevertheless use his mental abilities to communicate with the other Karoltai and members of the rangers like Vardamir without having them in sight. Ha'zi's range was limited though, once he moved outside of a hundred and eighty meters he could no longer communicate sufficiently to relay information. He also managed to conduct some more hybridized versions of his body, using a number of combos to enhance his giant. He was able to crystallize his fists, form battle-spikes out of his own biomass, and use elemental and flame powers from the Behemoth similar to what he did in Anorien but more controlled in order to minimize friendly-damage.

Portions of the northern training field became permanently scorched after multiple uses of Daugo's pyromancer abilities. Not only could he generate fire from his own body without any source but he could do so from any substance with the exception of liquids like water. Now he was able to unleash blasts of flame. Not necessarily balls like Ha'zi and Thoruk could do but rather massive swathes of fire. He was not able to control them well but it was still a start. His Behemoth was not utilized for obvious reasons of time-constraints and proximity to the capital.

And lastly, Tamara. They had her slit her finger a number of times which resulted in nothing but annoying pain for her until inevitably Sigeric mentally coaxed her into transforming. She had become quite used to him entering her mind, it was a strange yet somewhat comforting experience especially since he treated her quite well and was kind. And so the newest member of Gondor's Giants transformed, revealing the power of the Serpent Shifter.

Tamara had no idea what was happening the first time around but eventually got the hang of it. It was like she was a snake. Slithering about and quite fast in fact. Ha'zi noticed her serpent was smaller but much more beautiful at least in its color tone and features than the late shifter. Evenis had been far more menacing in look than Tamara and she was clearly faster. In fact, she nearly rivaled Dimitri. Sigeric put her through the Dwarf training protocol but she failed, getting a fire-spear thrown by Arcuturs lodged in her tail. The feeling was most unsatisfying but Tamara became used to it. They also discovered she had wings like the previous serpent though her ability to make use of them needed much more improvement. A positive though was that she was able to regurgitate consumed dirt into toxic bile that melted through some substances like the Guardian biomass.

After the second day of training, Sigeric introduced Gondor's Giants to a new set of people of whom Dimitri came to instantly dislike. According to Sigeric, they were the next generation of inheritors. Four young individuals: Taura, a sixteen-year-old lady who never seemed to stop smiling, an apparent relative of the Prince of Ithilien; Alvador, Prince Imrahil of Dol Amroth's grandson, a stern somewhat stuck-up youth who kept his distaste for Haradrim silent yet Ha'zi could instantly tell without needing to read his mind; Halos, clearly the most lackluster of the four, yet she was the oldest and the daughter of the Admiral Balkazir who Daugo had once met, she had some of the older man's features and had that old aquiline Numeorean look to her; and lastly there was Brego, some Eorling by blood who was supposedly royalty, he was a bit too rough around the edges and paid little heed to them with the exception of Dimitri whom he glanced at with contempt.

Sigeric's explanation for them was that they were merely there to learn from the Giants of Gondor in the case that one day should any Karoltai fall in battle there would be a suitable inheritor for them. This was, of course, the tale Sigeric gave. But Ha'zi and the others did not need to delve into his thoughts to realize that these four were there to inherit the missing Karoltai like the Flyer or them should Sigeric or Gondor for that matter see any of them unfit to carry a giant's power.

"Hello!" Taura smiled and waved at them. She took a step forward and presented herself with lady-like courtesy and offered her hand to the closest of them which happened to be Dimitri. The youthful inheritors stood opposite to the shifters as they overlooked the training field which Vardamir and squadron five were cleaning up as the sun fell beneath the mountains to the west. "Lord Sigeric has told us so much about you! I am honored to be in the presence of such esteemed..." She took the time to find the right term, "Heroes,"

"Tch," Brego muttered under his breath.

-----------------------

Arandil, on the other hand, received none of this. He was shunned from the citadel and re-assigned to toilet duty...on the first level. He spent his first day being watched carefully before they eventually slackened on him. It was clear that although the King was lenient on him, the other higher-ups took desertion gravely. They would have likely hung him if not for the King's mercy. Thank Aragorn for that. But now he was stuck here doing something of near-meaningless value...scrubbing latrines.

One of his supervisors walked into the nearest one he had just cleaned and began unfurling his undergarments. He did not bother to shut the door and Arandil got a nice view of his buttocks as he began taking a piss. He farted, a rancid onion-stench filling his nostrils. "Make sure to wash this one when I'm done!" The man said laughing and walked out, his genitals swinging as he pulled up his pants and buckled them.

Cardiloc swooped down for a better look, if this was truly Endo then why had he not met up at the right place. He kept a cautious attitude, this may well be a trap. “Wulf grant me strength.” Cardiloc thought to himself.

"Hm" Thoruk would grumble and scratch his beard.

"We're closer than I'd like to be, especially now that I've wasted my transformation this early..." he'd think.

"Father?" he'd say taking a look at him. "Ye have an axe for me, ye don't need?" he'd ask him.

"I sense a lot of stronger life-forms not to far away, in me current condition I don't think we can handle them, to many." he'd say, waiting for the axe.

"Wonder if Iver returned to them... maybe he gathered some intell? Maybe they imprissoned him? Wonder where this mad lad went.." Thoruk would think, too much things to do at this point.

"Help Aranel, search for Iver, get back to-..." now it came to him, what he had forgotten. "This damned Gondorian. Arandil. Durin bless me, even more problems. I hope that bugger wasn't killed by those mad lads."

Thoruk realy had to much to do at this point, it was hard for him to decide what would be the most necessary one... "Free Aule, in the east... go back to gondor to look out for Marco and Eonwe... Aye, feels like my head'll explode"

Thoruk would sit down for a moment. "I'll have that axe do some work as we try and get some rest father." he'd say, trying to spot water sources, most likely a river, due to vibrations in the ground.

The camp was an enlightening experience. He learnt all sorts of interesting things, like the digging and stuff. All terribly exciting, but now blasting powder. That was something that made Dimitri grin with glee at the mere thought. It could be packed into little bundles, and have the power to topple buildings in an instant. And it wasn't hard to use either. Any commoner could blast apart a bridge or a gate with it. And its anti-personal powers were incredible too. Toss one into a crowded mass, and no amount of armor will protect you. Dimitri frequently tried out little experiments with it in his spare time, devising ever more devious and deadly tools. If he made it through this, blasting powder would be one of his main tools.

Dimitri took her hand and shook it. "And it is a pleasure to be teaching you lot a little bit about our powers. All of you. You are the hope of your people if one of us falls in battle. You will have the honor and burden of what we now bear. Pay attention and ask as many questions as possible." Dimitri replied. He glanced at Brego and made a note to talk to him. And, more importantly, Tamara.

Sigeric would walk over and smile, putting a hand on Bregos and Alvadors shoulder smiling “Each of these young men and women have been briefed on the powers of both us and the Proto Giants, they have seen me use my biomass to create defenses and have been watching from a distance but it is a completely different thing to see the powers in use up close.” Sigeric would pause

”Tomorrow we’ll be taking it somewhat easy at first, you simply warm up with your powers, if you wish to transform that’s up to you but you’ll be showing each of these fine children how your powers work. Brego you’ll work with Dimitri, Halos with Ha’zi, Taura with Daugo, and Avaldor I’ll give you the option to choose either work also with Ha’zi or with Tamara. Once you’re done warming up and showing everything you want in then we’ll do a little skirmish with the four of you going against me, Daugo you sadly can’t trasnform but it’ll be a great opportunity to use your fire powers to the greatest extent. If you all can manage to beat an enemy that knows your every movement then the Protos and whomever else you’ll be directed to attack won’t stand a chance.” He directed before contacting each of the Giants separately

”Dimitri, Brego is a handful I won’t lie, however I chose him for you because he reminds me of when we first met at the tavern, it won’t be easy to warm up to him and it’ll take awhile for him to respect you equally but you’ll find once he does you will see plenty of you in him.”

”Ha’zi Halos is a spaz but she is true and honest to herself, I want you to try and establish a good connection with her, it’ll be easy for her to listen to you when she knows you aren’t a great warrior with the power of everyone and uses it without mercy, show her that there is more to the Warrior than power, show her the emotional spectrum that comes with it.]

”Daugo both of you are exceptionally clever. I don’t know how exactly it feels to be the Behemoth it’s one of the few giants I can’t wrap my head around completely, but just be you and you’ll be great partners. Show her that while you have the uncanny powers to destroy you Alain have the power to help build, while you can’t transform tell her what you knew from Andreth”

”Tamara I don’t know if you’ll be working with Avaldor and I know you don’t fully understand your powers yet but feel free to come talk to me whenever, I’ll help you out. We all went through a stage like this, but I know you are extremely hard working and Avaldor is extremely loyal, see if you can work with him based on that if he goes with you. If not i’ll give you some one on one time.”

After sending the message he’d turn around and begin to walk away calling behind him “Training is over, feel free to do as you please. Just remember children I may be your mentor but don’t forget that you have more than one teacher, you can even speak to some of the rangers for advice.”

Dimitri nodded and approached his new apprentice. He eyed the wazzock and saw him as any other noble. He would break the steed. "Well, Brego, we're going to be seeing a lot more of each other. And boy, am I going to enjoy this." Dimitri said with a grin.

"Card!" Endo whisper-called to him. "What are you doing here?!"

Cardiloc realized that it wasn't the same Endo he had brought but rather the older one from the other future. He had longer rougher hair and a shabby untrimmed beard.

-------------

"Alright, laddie." Thrak said pulling the axe out from his belt-handle where it usually hung. "What's on ye mind, Thoruk?" He could tell his son was concentrating.

Water...yes...the river...it was to the east of them. He found it. Under a click away.

------------

"Burden?" Taura asked her eyes lighting up at Dimitri's comment. "It is an honor to be chosen as a Giant Inheritor!" Her smile grew and after shaking Dimitri's hand she turned to Ha'zi who was next and shook his, then to Tamara who she dipped her head to and lastly to Daugo. "I am privileged to be your pupil, Mister Daugo." Her hand extended to the Hobbit as her eyes filled with untameable joy.

"Pft." Brego glanced at Dimitri. "We'll see about that." He remarked snarkily. 'Piece of shit thinks he's tough. I'll show him.' Ha'zi heard him think.

"Oh, thank you Lord Sigeric but I'm afraid that the Har-I mean Mister Ha'zi will be too occupied with Halos to give his full attention to me." He looked to Tamara with some skepticism, "If it's no issue, I would not mind being taught by the Serpent Lady." He said somewhat hesitant. 'What was her name again? Wasn't she knew? How would she teach me? I'm supposed to inherit the Elemental. Why can't Lord Sigeric take me instead of some girl or the Haradrim.' His thoughts passed onto both mind-readers.

Halos stepped forward and awkwardly offered her hand to Ha'zi. "Halos daughter of Lord-Admiral Balkazir, Lady of Everwater." Her voice was monotone and bland as if rehearsed countless times. "Pleasure to make your acquaintance." Yet her hands trembled slightly and Ha'zi could tell she was beyond nervous.
