VENTURES INTO THE REMOTE (RP)

Sigeric turned towards Iver, a look of confusion in his face. "You lost your powers?" He was about to ask Iver to elaborate, when the woman and the boy appeared in the room. Sigeric assumed the worst. He stood up, instinctively reaching for his rapier, only to realize that he had left it with the door-guard. "Get the king to safety." He said to the guards. Sigeric examined the knife wielded by the smaller of the interlopers. At first, it was not an intimidating weapon. Not until its true purpose dawned upon Sigeric. He leaped forward to grab the blade.

Dimitri enjoyed the long ride east, even though he was physically and mentally drained. But he knew that every second brought him closer to battle with Morgoth, and savored the growing feeling of inevitable battle. He craved the taste of blood spilled in a righteous name.

Daugo breathed in to dissipate any silly stage-fright. "To be completely frank, Your Majesty, I am not entirely sure. I inherited the powers of the most terrible of the Karoltai, Andreth, who was known as The Behemoth, but I have yet to employ them. I saw the Behemoth only once, and it was a... strange vantage point, to say the least. I've been made to understand that his might was incredible to behold, and it took the combined efforts of all seven other Giants to defeat him. This at least I can tell Your Majesty. The Karoltai were designed to defeat the hosts of Valinor, and the hosts of Valinor overthrew Morgoth once; so it stands to reason that, if all eight of us work in tandem, we might be able to defeat the Enemy. But we will need help, and I cannot guarantee that we'll emerge victorious. I will do all in my power... for the sake of my children, and the world."

CHAPTER 9: THE ROAD TO WAR

"We came to nego-" The raven-haired woman said before Sigeric jumped at her companion, "NOW!" She shouted and the boy slit his hand. There was a pause. The raven-haired woman immaterialized. Sigeric saw it just before his eyes were blinded. The boy. His face. He saw a mixture of sadness, disparity, and anger. Then it happened. The transformation.

WHOOOOOOOBOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMM

Sigeric was thrown back, his body crushed under the weight of the collapsing Palace.

Iver saw his father's face before the explosion of steam smashed both of them backward and the roof collapsed.

Thoruk witnessed King Bard II shielded by one of his guards before the explosion sent him flying out the glass windows and into the air. He was falling. FALLING!

Half the Palace was destroyed. In it's place stood a Giant. A fifteen-meter tall, muscular humanoid. It had light sandy hair and its body was covered in armor from head to toe. Only slight areas like the knees were exposed in order to allow for movement. It stood over the destroyed library and lifted its foot to see a crushed man before searching the ruins for the shifters that it was ordered to capture. They were like him. But unlike them, he had a choice. Serve or die. And he chose the former.

Iver's eyes opened as rubble and rock poured down on him. He was trapped, his legs crushed underneath some rocks. He saw a hand sticking out behind a slab of stone and broken wooden planks, only a hand, the entire body was smashed beneath. He noticed his father's rings on that hand.

Sigeric was in almost as bad a position. A giant metal rung had pierced through his chest and he was loosing blood. He was conscious but had a concussion and saw others around. Iver, some dead guards, a body crushed beneath the stone, and in the corner of the room, the body of King Bard II, a piece of stone crushing the man's chest...

Thoruk was falling through the air and had only moments to react before he hit the ground.

---------------------------

Cardiloc had an awkward thought come to mind. There were two free rooms. He had slept in one. Ha'zi and Ela had slept in the other. (I'll just leave that there)

"I suppose we could. The next large city is Edhellond, which is about a three hundred leagues from here. It'll take us two fortnights to walk there." Miriel stated.

----------

Dimitri saw the Rammas Echor in the distance and the many towns around it. Gondor has grown. Majorly. It was no longer the shadow it had once been.

8861015

"Luckily I can make it in a few hours, stand back." He nodded to Miriel, pulling his spear from his back he slit his hand. When they were all a safe distance he transformed into an eagle, beckoning them aboard. Then he flew to Edhellond.

As Thoruk gets blown out of the palace, still conscious, he closes his eyes and looks into the memories of the previous shifter. He was able to use the powers of wind like no one else, storms, clouds, shockwaves made out of wind, no comparison to what litle Thoruk has done so far. He looks deeper inside his mind "Throkor, I will never be the dwarf everyone expects me to be, I'll fail to protect them if I get crushed by a single explosion this easily" he says to his grandfathers ghost. His grandfather, not doing more then helping him up and pointing towards a crowd. But not just any crowd, no. His friends, his family. "They believe in me, you're right." he says as he forms his hands into fists and gets thrown out of his mind in an instant. "Just like a feather gliding down in the wind..." he thinks, concentrating his powers at the small winds around him, trying to form a kind of pillow bellow him. "I can do this" he says as his veines pump out and his fists crunch as he puts all his power into his hands.

"I shall provide the necessary aid to you and your allies. You have my sword, Master Burgins." Aragorn said, though, he did not dramatically unsheath Anduril.

"First we must confirm the whereabouts of the threat," Celeborn stated, quite army-wise, pointing at the table which had a map of Middle-Earth sketched into the carved wood.

"Morgoth's existence and return is undeniable. However, we lack any knowledge or intelligence on his current location. According to Daugo Burgins and his friends, notably a man called Sigeric, they were informed by the Maia Eonwe of Morgoth's return to Middle-Earth occurring here," Celeborn stabbed his finger down on the spot which said 'Mordor' in black ink.

"We shall send a detachment to investigate this claim. In the case that it is incorrect, we should alert all Free Peoples to begin searching the desolate areas of Middle-Earth. Morgoth needs a base of operations. He would logically select a well-fortified area away from the eyes of men. Mordor serves that purpose and possibly other areas such as Khand, Rhun, and the Frodowaith, though I doubt he could relocate to that northern waste. Thus, we must send a force that will be able to combat him into Mordor, in the case that this claim of Eonwe's is correct. It must be a fast-moving group to survey the lands of Gorgoroth. It may take many weeks or several months to full search Mordor even with horses, however, among the Karoltai was one who could shapeshift into a winged dragon. The flying capabilities of this will reduce the time as more ground can be covered." Celeborn said waving his finger around the Mordor region.

"In the case that this detachment does not return, assume the worst and that Morgoth is indeed, in Mordor." He looked to them all.

"I, along with many of my regiment shall be among the detachment. I assume that Master Burgins shall also be needed if we do in fact run into Morgoth. And possibly all of his companion Giants. However, it would be risky to expend them all in one maneuver. Therein. The detachment must be formidable enough to match Morgoth's strength. That is why the Free People's strongest warrior will be needed." He turned to Aragorn, "Glorfindel was sent south to alert Legolas Greenleaf. Call upon him."

"I had no information of his whereabouts. I shall do so after this council has adjourned." The King replied. Many of the other Gondorians began to discuss their affairs with the King and finally the council came to a decision. They looked to Celeborn.

"Master Burgins, do you have anything to add?" Celeborn gave Daugo the stage.

It was three hours of flight over the Bay of Belfalas before Card caught sight of Edhellond. He was fatigued and had nearly fallen asleep a few times. Ela was there to smack him awake. Miriel and Ha'zi talked, Ha'zi was teaching her everything about them, explaining the road so far.

12700073

----------

Thoruk felt the winds below him pick up and he glided slowly down to a patch of rocky dirt beneath the Palace. He could see the huge Giant above him. It seemed to be rummaging around.

Dust and soot covered Iver and Sigeric. Both were restrained as they saw the Giant reach down with its massive hands. It was different than theirs. It had thick skin, like plates. Armour. An Armoured Giant. It brushed around and its hands lifted the rock on Iver's broken legs. It then proceeded to grasp Iver and pick him up.

---

"Wake up, Sigeric!" Berra screamed into his mind, "Wait until it picks you up, then transform once you're a safe distance away from Dale!"

---

"Hello, there." Iver heard another voice in his mind. Damn it. "I'm Eldan. The one you tried to kill, remember? With the tree sap. It was awkward. You're in a slump. Get your head in the fight, kid. I need you to fight. Otherwise we both die and we're stuck in someone else's head, together. So, I need you to fight. I know your father just died but you need to stick with me, here," The voice urged him, "Think hard. Concentrate on transforming. You need to before he kills you."

---

The Armoured Giant stared at Iver's limp body in his hand and looked down to search for the other shifter. Azura had said there were two or three around here. The other one might be crushed underneath the rock so the next closest living person would have to do. Its a good guess anyway. He thought. Sure, people died, but they had lived long full lives. He hadn't, his life was stolen from him. And he intended to take it back. One way or the other.

"Father... No...." Iver whispered, seeing his father's ring. After all that time, he returned home and his father finally accepted him back..... Just to be taken away by Sig's stupid acts.
No, it wasnt Sig to blame, it was that little kid. Iver didnt want to beat children before, maybe a spank here and there to one of those shit bags but nothing serious. But now, fire burned in his guts. He felt something like he never did before. Even when grimnir beat him up for no reason he didnt feel anything that heavy. His guts twisted, blood rushed to his head and his vision became red. He want that kid dead.

"I think I should settle down." Cardiloc yawned beginning to descend at Edhellond. He began to land at some kind of palace.

As Thoruk feels the wind below him bring him down to the ground he looks up towards the new giant with a "Oh fack, why had to call him a clown and a child...not that great." He then slowly creeps away, hopefully out of sight of the new giant. He slowly tries to get back up to where they had entered the palace, to grab his axes.

"Well..." he looked at the floor for a second. "Well, it's a little embarrassing, but, the truth is, I may have these insane powers, but I dunno how to fight. At all. Be good if someone gave me a few basic lessons." He knew he was being cheeky, but he wouldn't dare fight Morgoth as he was.

Pyrus would crouch down and place his palm onto the barren ground of Mordor. He suspected what Morgoth wanted him to do but it wasn't wise to just rush ahead?

The Armoured Giant was searching for the Elemental Shifter in the wreckage of the King's Palace when his hand exploded.

"Wha?" The boy turned to see his whole hand had been blown into a mush of bone and guts and in its place was a giant bat. The Flying Giant. This should be easy enough. The Armoured raised his other hand to swat Iver out of the air.

Iver felt the power, unstoppable power raging through him. He saw the predictable attack coming from the Armoured.

Thoruk found it difficult to return to the secret entrance into the Palace as he was a mile beneath it on the rocky fields outside Dale. He would have to run back through the city and find his way up and that may take hours. He saw something occurring above him. The Armoured was swinging its hand around at something flying in the air. A Giant bat? Iver.

Sigeric was semi-conscious. There were too many voices in his head. The dying people around him, Bard II's own voice, Berra the previous Guardian Shifter, Iver's voice, and even the Armoured Giant Shifter's voice, seeping in.

---------

The lands around Edhellond were plains. The city was an elven haven on the coast of Belfalas which had been renewed over the years.

Cardiloc found a strip of plain to land upon. Ha'zi and Miriel disembarked and helped Ela down.

"What now?" Ela asked her brother, patting the dragon's scales.

12700073

------------

"Of course," King Aragorn said, "Come by to the Citadel Guard barracks and by the time you leave, Morgoth will fear you." Some of the councilmen laughed.

"If that is all, this council is adjourned." Aragorn said, "Riders will depart to fetch Glorfindel and alert the allies of Gondor of this threat."

They exited the King's presence and Celeborn looked upon Daugo, "Well done, Master Burgins. You did better than I hoped, yet, you could have mentioned that bit on combat experience and I would have been able to help you." The other elves followed, "We shall find accommodations on the fifth level. I will gather the other soldiers. In the meanwhile, why don't you go to the Citadel Barracks," The Noldorin pointed to a rather large building in the corner of the seventh level.

13527980

------------

"Do you feel the metal in the Earth, Pyrus?" Morgoth spoke, placing his hand upon Pyrus and feeding power into him. Pyrus could sense all manner of elements down there. From boiling mercury to the long-lost shards of rusted iron that had once been used in a sword. He felt the countless buried weapons, the many magnetic frequencies, the iron ore hidden beneath the dirt, and far below the molten metals that made up Arda's lithosphere.

15756962

"Well we should find a place to rest so Card can recover for some of his energy." Ha'zi would tell Ela while marveling at the surrounding land, even though he had been on the ocean for three months locked in chains he still found a way to admire the waves and how the sunlight bounced off them and caused the sand to glow.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Yes, there are many ores and hidden elements." Pyrus would tell Morgoth when it dawned on him, countless battle had been fought throughout Mordor throughout the ages. The amount of buried weaponry would be able to host the army of the Dark Lord many times over without e need to waste time forging.

"You do not know your own strength, but I do. Reach down. Pull the metals from the earth." Morgoth said to him, feeding Pyrus with power. His memories dawned on him.

---

Building the Mansions of Aule with his powers, he had constructed the metal work whilst other brothers and sisters had put wood and other materials in place.

---

His mind being wiped of these memories, his powers being hidden, him being made to serve.

---

Slaying men, women, children, whole families at the orders of the Valar. Serving them as a slave. Killing for the 'greater good'. What greater good? '

---

It all fed into him as the cracked earth began to swirl beneath his hands. Pieces of copper, iron, nickel and lead swiveled up out of the cracks in the plateau of Gorgoroth.

"Raise them. All of them, Pyrus. Every weapon, broken blade, arrowhead, shard, every piece of metal beneath the Earth. Everything that the Children of Illuvitar built. Everything that Eru gave them. Everything that we were denied. Raise them all." Morgoth commanded Pyrus, standing up to address the hundreds of Maia that had gathered outside the newly built castle.

"I am sorry, my brothers and sisters. I am truly sorry. I was blind before and my imprisonment has made me see for the first time in eons. I abandoned you when I should have been helping you. Now, I have returned and I will help all of you achieve what was denied of you. I will save you. All of us, Ainur, brothers and sisters shall unite to defeat our true enemy. The Valar and our deceived Father. Illuvitar. He has caused all our suffering. It was he who left us to rot while he allowed his 'children', the Edain, the Eldar and those filthy dwarves to enjoy paradise. Now, is the Age of the Ainur. An Age of Freedom. An Age free of darkness. An age free of the Valar and Illuvitar!" He proclaimed loudly to the skies.

"THEY FEAR US. AND THEY SHOULD. FOR WE HOLD THE POWERS OF CREATION. ARISE, MY AINUR. ARISE, MY SIBLINGS. EVERYTHING THEY HAVE CREATED, SHALL COME CRASHING DOWN UPON THEM. ARISE!" A spark of energy burst through the crowd and Morgoth's words echoed through the valleys of Mordor, from the Udun to the eastern desolation.

The Maiar who had been bowing to Morgoth, rose. And power surged through them. Morgoth's power. Some began to shed their physical forms becoming spirits of flame, water, ice, and wind. Others began to transform into great drakes and massive serpents. While others like Pyrus and Azura began to raise objects with their very will.

Morgoth was both terrible, magnificent and mighty to behold. Lightning crackled through the sky behind him, near the Ephel Duath and for the briefest of moments, they all glimpsed his mighty fiery wings that spread out behind him as his power was released. They were the largest of the wings of the Ainur that Pyrus had ever seen and horrible to behold in their grandeur and magnificence. Rare was it to see the wings of a Maia but truly was it unique to witness the wings of a Vala in their prime. This was a matchless moment.

15756962

---------

Thunder cracked in the east and Daugo saw lightning spark through the Ash Mountains for a second.

13527980

As Thoruk turns around and looks over the walls behind him he sees a bat flying around the kid-giant-thing. "Iver that bugger...." he says as he starts waving around with his hands, ment as a signal for Iver. "Damnit, hope he understands what I want." he thinks as he runs away from the city, heading towards a small hill between erebor and dale.

Cardiloc was an eagle, not a dragon. He cocked his head towards his sister and shifted out of the Eagle's body. The dunlending stumbled out and fell flat on his face, he would need some help getting up. 12253360 15756962

Dimitri just kept riding. He had never been much further east than Dol Amroth while he was a militiaman, but the rumors of the White City and the immense wall surrounding it always served as a inspiration for what the race of Men could achieve.

Sigeric slowly regained his senses, still processing what had happened. He had seen the knife and had acted as quickly as possible. He had thought that he could prevent this... Sigeric's senses were overwhelmed as the voices flooded his mind. He heard Berra's advice, and slowly turned his head towards the Armoured Giant. Iver had already engaged it combat - it was too late. Sigeric struggled to maintain consciousness as he continued to bleed out. He couldn't transform yet... the King would die...

Iver saw shocked. His powers were back, so why didnt he regenerate earlier?
Never mind, that was no time for questions. He thought as he saw the giant's hand moving toward him, slow as a cloud in a windless day. It will be easy, but he cant do this inside the city. Iver dashed toward the giant's head and screeched in his ear while lawing the armourless parts of the neck. He jumped down to the ground and picked sigric who was pumped by a metal pipe. Flying outside the city, seeing Thoruk the tiny dwarf running outside the city he took a turn following him, knowing that the armoured fck will follow them for sure.
