Troll :(

might mess with a ton of other code like death messages, point gaining/lossing, any other thing that has to do with the death/damage event. but it is possible!. not that i want trolls to take no knockback. would be a bit op
 
You can't just "disable knockback", at least I can't.
Trolls can still throw rocks that kill someone in one hit, so they're still strong enough to kill any class.
Also, you seem to forget that trolls can take an insane amount of damage before they die, and when teaming with other trolls can be a force almost impossible to be reckoned with.

Actually, you can edit armor to change the chance of knockback resistance. (its a custom attribute you can use with command blocks, you set it to 100% and you don't move a millimeter upon damage) But I agree with your point anyways.

I know about this, but sadly, the way I code doesn't allow those attributes (yet).

Hah! You think I didn't think of that? The damage event tends to cause a lot of problems with armour, resistance, etc and thus doesn't work correctly. Also, I don't think any of you would really like trolls being completely invulnerable as it just looks stupid, ruins their one big weakness (fall) and makes them almost unstoppable with melee.
 
it takes about 30 ticks to draw a bow. power 2 bows deal 12.5 damage fully drawn and have a 1/5 chance of dealing 13. trolls have aprox 172 health vs ranged with the new resistance buff so 13-14 arrows fully charged.
that means if the server has max TPS(Ticks Per Second) and the player has no lag and shoots instantly when his bow is fully drawn AND hits every single hit it takes 19.5 seconds to kill a troll with a power II bow. if we add on the fact that trolls move ziggy zaggy to dodge over half your arrows. and the fact that you don't shoot the arrow instantly when your bow is fully drawn(Cuz u gotta aim it). it takes around 40-70 seconds to kill a troll. now if we add on the lag factor (server side or client side or anti cheat bs) so lets say your shooting arrows as fast as possible with a 200+ ping. on your fourth or fifth arrow anti cheat decides your shooting arrows a pit fast and decides to Bam make that arrow you just shot not come out of your bow. then server side lag decides to wants to go at 15 ticks not 20 and bam your arrow now takes 2 seconds to load instead of 1.5. so we add up the 2 seconds vs 1.5 seconds and its 27 seconds. double that because trolls dodge over half your arrows. add that plus the fact that anti cheap makes one in 5 of your arrows go bye bye and not fire its now 64.8 seconds to kill a troll that goes ziggy zaggy. now assuming you take another quarter second to aim after your bow is fully drawn its now 68 seconds. add on the fact that players in minecraft regenerate health at a rate of half heart every 4 seconds it now takes away 75% of the damage you just did. so it takes a archer 4.32 minutes to kill a troll. thats if the archer does not need time to run from the troll and has a op camping spot that requires ladders and the troll stays in lane of fire for the whole 4.32 minutes dodging arrows. what if the troll can easily get to the archer in under 20 seconds like 95% of the time? well then the archer runs the troll eats food and regenerates all health lost from the archer.

so that is why archers cant solo trolls anymore. and why this 50% resistance needs reduced.
if you ask me the way the game should go is troll > soldier > archer > troll.
i like the idea of 10% resistance vs melee and -10% vs range. but a resistance buff like that to the already most tanky class is to much.
 
Balanced when a troll just got a 45 kill streak when our entire team of dwarves was targeting him? No I don't think its balanced.
 
Eh I don't mind the Troll change. Yes the no sprinting is annoying fot travelling, and archers are now way more of a problem for the class, but Tim balanced it by removing slowness (which was an OP buff, Amroths aren't such a huge nuisance anymore), and making Trolls more resistant to arrows (which makes sense, it took Legolas like ten shots to kill that Cave Troll. The guy who defied gravity in BOTFA and shoots triple arrows.) Leave it as it is, Tim's got enough to worry about as it is, what with the coding of Dale.
 
Damn Nerf Those Trolls I'm so tired of giving 1/4 of my bow to 1 Troll! Nerf that, Or atleast give Bows unbreaking 2 as standard and not to buy it -.- Im not even attacking Trolls cuz they take to much dmg.. Unbreaking 2 or 3 as standard would do great.

Trolls are stronger then balrog, now tell me how troll isnt strong, free class on most maps vs 100 euro class on 4 flags...
 
I'm not sure about Tim's coding abilities. But perhaps once in a while (for instance, every 10 shots), an archer can shoot a really high damage arrow, that will like half a Troll's health.
 
Whoever made this thread is clearly oblivious to the fact that troll can take more damage than balrog, ''but balrog isn't supposed to be good it's just a fun class'', In a tunnel a troll is pretty much unkillable. It can take on 5 royal guards then still have enough health to get shot 10 times. How...in any way what so ever is this not good enough, if anything this stupidly op class should be nerfed.

It does ridiculous damage, 3 hits me as royal guard. Also requires no skill to get a high killstreak with, most 24/7 troll users have 3+ kd's (unless their bad then it's like 2.5). Why oh why are you complaining about this? There's already about 5 trolls to every 20 gondor, morgul is near impossible unless you can get to the flag now, because trolls are so strong they can push people out of the gate. It makes minas tirith progress a lot faster, usually orcs always win unless theirs not enough trolls to ram for some reason. Trolls can also hold the flag and actually get points for the cap, unlike nazgul which I personally find stupid.

So overall you have a class which isn't even that slow, which has ridiculously good armour, does ridiculously good damage. Ask yourself...
