What made Emirewar v1 so much fun?

idk if this was suggested earlier but couple things the osgiliath bridge objective was fun, also add more variety to point classes. ewv2 felt very different than v1 when it went live but over time and with the addition of point classes it feels pretty dam similar. as for the conwy complaints, I believe they stem from the fact that 5 donor classes are available on all maps and that really makes things annoying (for example, mage on moria. the dwarves get a slow kb class (hammer) which is ok in kb but mage is just really broken on the stairs, as broken as bonebreaker and I do not think it is meant to be that op. same on laketown men side) (also beserker, many situations). I wish that there was some way to balance the donor classes instead of having 5 on each map and each team..
maybe have medic on both, mage and ranger on men/good and beserker and halberd on evil/bad. all classes would still be on all maps, but it would be incentive to buy more classes and it would add some sort of balance.

nazgul and rog...
please do not add rog without giving dwarves a significant buff, either in numbers or rework hammer to better counter troll (just give it more damage and/or kb2). I do not know how the rumored dwarf shovel guy will change things, but to kill a troll u need regen and speed and damage. (the only map where troll is op is moria, elsewhere it can be argued that troll is flimsy as it is easy to kill with a spearman/dol/royal/ithsoldier)

nazgul. this was one thing that made old EW good and bad, I have bittersweet memories of the big black bird. Adding it would make it feel a lot more like EWv1, but I feel that in the current state it would throw tirith out of balance (on morgul and osgil it would be fine, the evil side generally struggles). also, donor or point is a question that needs to be answered.

Honestly the biggest reason why EWv1 was fun was the massive playerbase. I wish there was some way to increase the playerbase somehow as that would certainly make things more fun. I had an idea to tobberz to advertise to Asians but he shot it down, on the logic that Asians (all 4.4 billion of them) don't play minecraft. maybe yall could take a second look at that? Also, with amazon's securing of the rights to make a lotr tv show, that also adds massive potential to market, and that could mean more players

all in all, ewv2 is not bad, but there are some things that could be done to improve.

edit:
I'll tell u what u can do, u can combine maps, u can have have it so the world feels more like an open world and not only siege. For example, the battle of Gondor where battles happen on several fronts, Kinda like NaW has. Im not saying become like them but something similiar could save the server. Gondor resources and mordor resources would allow for upgrades such as unlocking citadel guard (just an example) Donators would be able to buy classes individually, A stable for cavalry that respawns horses occasionally, Several capzones around the map, A barrack or armoury where u can buy upgrades to your gear and strenght, Archery for bows and arrows, A mine for gear, Some towns/cities around the map that can be occupied by both teams. Do I need to go on?

good idea, not enough players for it to be open. we barely have enough for concentrated battles. is there some way to compromise? maybe multiple smaller objectives like 2 areas for second gate that need to be captured? if you can do it on a small scale in which its easy to get from 1 to the other then its feasible with our low player count
its obviously missing me getting a 12 troll killstreak with strength pots that double my damage.
I'll tell you right now. I'm bad at troll, and I can get a 12 killstreak easily.
I meant I was the one killing trolls, not me as the noob troll. those should be reserved for pvp handicapped players like tobberz.

*rises from the earth* I'll tell you what made it so darn cool: The community.

Half the time I wasn't even playing - not because it wasn't fun. I was chatting with my mates or doing LOTR pop trivia and stuff. The people were awesome. There were some people like Anrza, MDK47, and Mr. Cookie Smurf who were so good at PvP that I didn't even mind when I died. I would just sit in awe at their mad skillz and then compliment them. Andrew (Lagy_Paladin), Antzorg, Dimitri, Hentz, and others would just talk, have friendly rivalries, it was great. Heck, a lot of the RPers were even in the Bards so when it was Minas Tirith we'd all have cool challenges where we'd have to get to the Bards HQ and not get ganked, and we'd have swell parties there and just do silly stuff.

And you knew what was up when you started a game too. You'd check tab and assess the situation ("oh sh**, they have an Anrza), but there'd always be the guy complaining that trolls were too op (me), nazgul too op, mage too op, Anrza too op (ily have my bbys), complaining about how the books are better than the films and vice versa, trolling about "who's Tom Bombadil?" groaning about lag, friendly trash talking, shouting at their teammates to "HOLD GATE," "RUSH GATE," "REPAIR GATE." A lot of it was almost RP too - people summoning and shouting "CHARGE," "FOR DURIN," "FOR KHAZAD-DUM," "FORTH EORLINGAS," "REGROUP YOU MAGGOTS!" (I personally think removing /unite was terrible and I was so sad when it went away because it made for some of the best moments, but that's neither here nor there)

Oh yes, and donor ranks actually meant something back then. I got cool classes (I don't think they've re-re-added that you get those yet?) and I felt like a BADASS. Man, when Wacko and Cookie and maybe Kordian or someone would be defending the stairs of Khazad-dum as longbeards wacking filthy orcs into the lava I felt SO COOL just MAN it was so cool.
And now I'm a scrub swordsman, and I'm sad.

I've tried to come back several times recently, but it's just not there. Maybe it's because I prefer WoW, Skyrim, and other games to Minecraft now. It's also that lots of the people are gone. It's not a friendly match with your friends anymore, it's just fighting a bunch of faceless people you've never met before. I'm not emotionally attached to my fights because there's no grudge between me and a filthy elf-lover like Lucolas or orc-scum like Dimitri, it's just combat.

Oh yeah, and there's lag now. fehk u lag

/unite can still be used by staff members.
We have 5 universal Gold classes but are now looking into adding more class packs (Lore based).
The Gondor pack was actually released last week.
I have seen alot of old faces around, cool_col for example, it's sad that you don't play around the daily peak, alot of old faces and we have tons of fun with almost full server.

Tim and Steal have made some major progress on the lag front.

erm excuse me thubionerd, I may not of been as good at archery as MD or as good at pvp as anzra, but mr cookie smurf I was definitely better than, I held a 2.7 KDR on old EW.

This is an issue I have with vets such as the likes of Thu. You yourself say you don't play much, and I myself haven't seen you a) spend time on the server b) spend time on the forums or c) spend time on discord.

Because in addition to Olex's corrections, saying there is no community because there aren't the same regular players as 3-4 years ago is preposterous. In stead of saying 'the games are dull because there is no community', a far more nuanced way of saying it would be 'the games are dull because I don't come on enough to know anyone'.

There is plenty more I could debunk in your comment, but Olex helped with that. And as far as I can see, there are plenty of Vets who do enjoy the server... Unlike that certain class who have actually spent more time away from the server than not, yet have some sort of prerogative to be grouchy.

Our regular player base at Christmas is 30+ people, it was about 50-60 people this time 2 years ago, of course there will be fewer people around.

Naturally, remember those times will likely never happen again due to the declining popularity of Minecraft.

Tobberz has a point, perhaps I should amend my statement. A lot of the people I came to know and love have left (ironically Toby was there when I first joined up, then he left and became active only relatively recently). Thus for me the community is not as tight-knit. You may currently have a great community, but most of my friends are gone from it so I find it hard to get back into it. It's hard to form a whole new group of friends, and frankly sometimes I don't feel like it sometimes.

TL;DR Toby is right, I can't talk about there not being a community when I haven't taken part in that community. What I'm saying is my community has been gutted, so I feel alienated from EW. I did join the Discord though! :)

I shall excuse that double post, thanks for the clarification. And I'm sure that I could argue with you about ranks for a while, but I won't xD

You little mud-runt I'm no grobi swine. Sigmar Exalted has granted me the gift of humanity, I'll pummel you into the ground with my hammer manling.

But community was the big turn-on for me when I played EW, I love chatting with (and butchering) friends on the fields of GLORIOUS PELLENOR and the Bard's HQ. If it weren't for the bleedin' lag, I'd probably play a lot more.

Apparently lag is fixed.

Not fixed, just much better.

Black Orc,
Lore; Unlike their southern Mordorim Black Uruk kin, these Orcs are not as strong as they are. And ironically not Black skinned either. These are Orc whom have inhabited the Northern mountains after Morgoth's banishment. And have taken claim of different rivalling Orc clans. Their posture is rather weirdly shapen, they are most of the time rather fat and always have the purest of Black Eyes. They are dreadfully charismatic, and experienced. Hard-hitters and schemers. They are like a force of nature on the battlefield, being clad in nothing more than leather, they rival even elven speed.
Basically, medium hitter, with speed, and medium armour.
A unit best to flank Around and to capture points quickly, but Also who can stand against regular warriors competing in damage.
(Basically, a much much better skirmisher.)

The Skull Guard
Large Uruks whom wield nigh impenetrable Metal shields, these Uruks are elite. Arrows wont do much against these heavily armoured behemoths. Wielding wicked polearms and Axes, they ravage through the battlefield with great endurance.
Basically a decent tank, slower but much more stronger version of the shieldman. Also has ability to throw Some javelines to pummel routing foes.
(If possible, a special ability, "shield Smash" hitting a foe and leaving Him stunned for 1,5 sec (blindness, nausea). This ability cooldown of 10 sec)
