Title is self explanatory.

So, lets assume there just was a nuclear war. It's been 5 minutes since the last bombs went off. All cities which had over 100,000 people are leveled, same with military assets. If you live in a city, which has over 100,000 people, then lets assume your house was magically protected. You now have to survive the harsh environment. How will you do that? Please keep it realistic, not like "Oh, I'll fly off to space", but rather what you'd actually do after it. If needed then I'll procide more information.

EDIT: People, who get magical protection, your magical protection will fade in a day(house and you).

I think i would actually suicide... as many others, a world in ruins, most people you know are dead, Radioactive stuff everywhere.

Its amazing that humans put so much effort and reasources on stuff to destroy eachother/itself with.

Select W-53 (Titan II warhead) if you live in a city as big as london, otherwise choose a smaller/realistic one.
Advanced options - Show radiation rings for "dry wood usually burns"
And anything else that you want to select.

Yeah so all vegetation around me for at least 20 miles would be destroyed. Buildings 1 mile around me would also be crushed (apart from mine).
Reading and Guildford have over 100k people, they are south and west to me. Therefore a smaller bomb would wipe those out. My best option is to flee into the countryside north-west by car with supplies, possibly with my bike too.
Jet stream/prevailing winds will take nuclear fallout away from the direction i'm heading. But lets not forget the mushroom clouds that would ultimately cause nuclear winter and block out the sun for some time (I don't know how long, guessing weeks though).
Long term, ill die prematurely due to being unable to avoid some sort of radiation effects including ionisation radiation...

This is going to be fun. *sarcastic*

To survive this, a certain level of luck and planning skill is required. The first order of action is to grab essential supplies (water, food and a weapon) and then put it into a pack. I will also have a change of clothes and wear autumn/winter hiking gear or the closest I got anyway. Since my house is 'magically protected' no additional radiation is entering, so I will also use this time to fortify my house as the outside radiation makes it quite undesirable for intruders to enter so when there is a lot of banditry I will be safer. After that, I will wait 3 days in my house (again no radiation due to magic :P) and use this time to read Robinson Crusoe, listen to the radio, and make improvised weapons. After 3 days I begin my world conquest.

On a more serious note I will wait until the radiation level dies off (takes about 10 days, that is when my supply situation gets really dire) and then I will search for food deep down in bunkers. I might jury rig a primitive geiger counter although I doubt i would be able to. I will use it to see which foods are radiated and which aren't, same goes for water. I will also be searching for weapons and other people who I might survive with (remember my magic house is a pretty good asset).

well first off you'd probably die of cancer within 2 weeks just being around building that were leveled by a nuke so I would enjoy my last 2 weeks to live.

Well, I have to add something. Nuke map doesn't take in to account the wind. Wind decides which way most of the hazardous waste will go. Also, there are about 10,000 nukes in the world, and the average strength is around 33-34 kT. Also, nuclear winter will only last for few weeks at maximum, as far as I know.

To sum it up: Nuclear winter for years on end...

Well, I live in colorado (which is an anti-zombie/anti-disaster area), so i'd just live in the secret government bunker hidden under DIA (denver international airport). Or if I were somewhere else, well, eat or be eaten :D
