When I think about EW Staff activity, I think long and hard about the history of this server and community, stretching back five years, and all the people - players and staff - who have come and gone. They pass into and out of the present like a flock of birds overhead, and all the while EW endures. Is this the same EW as what started out five years ago? If not, when did it change? Gradual mutation seems likely. And when I think of this great history, I think of the massive burden that falls to me to attempt, in every way possible, to extend their legacy and tread in their footsteps. I remember being a confused player in 2013, looking up at these giants of characters - Moderators, Admins and Owners, striding around importantly and grandly - always seemingly in a different league, talking about mysterious events and flamewars, with eminent players conversing about whatever with whomever. And then I grimly realise that that is what I have become, and I consider what it must be like for the new player on EW today. How do they view me? Who knows. I hope they have that same sense of mystery and awe that I had, all those years ago.
