''Just to remind you that Winter Is Coming...at walking speed.''

I've begun watching GoT not even a week ago and I'm already at Season 3. Being sick clearly makes everything go fast.

I'll just leave a picture of Our Lord and Saviour, Gundalf the Wight, in memory of yore (this was a meme I've made long ago for Empire War's original Meme Thread. You do remember?).

I started reading the books today. I'm liking them so far.

So am I. Watching the series and reading the books at the same time makes you able to cringe at the things that don't make any sense but that made it in the books (I'm looking at you, Ser Hugh of the Vale).
Riko is actually asking for help on something, wow!

For a personal work of mine, I require some advice if you have some knowledge or papers about:
    -Mongol history;
    -Historical consequences of Mongols;
    -Genetics and gene inheritance.

If you have something that could help me, please do share!

That was edgy, but you should manage to figure out which Pandora's Box I opened this time.
A TV SERIES BASED ON 1ST/2ND AGE MIDDLE EARTH.
It would be the best idea ever had-and without all the adult things that sprouted from Game of Thrones.
It is quite sad that an adult series has to throw random violence, effects and uncontrolled sex just to be adult without understanding why GoT has said violence, effects and sex.

    STILL, THE IDEA IS GLORIOUS.
I love how your location still says Italy kek

Oe well I guess people put in whatever nationality they most identify themselves with, as you can see with Russians like Commodant who live in the States
Began reading A Game of Thrones.
So far, I'm hooked, but still wondering wether SPOILERS and how to watch the series in Sweden: not on Netflix and not gonna pay for TV swedish channels.

I can relate. I got my hands on the first three books, read them all, and will probably read the rest. Not so sure whether it's worth the commitment to the show, especially since I know the major plot lines.

about 100kr a month, you also get 1 month free and there's no binding time. So you could wait a few weeks and then see all of the episodes for free ^^

Thinking about it, there is hbo and hbo nordic. Both offers 1 month free and I think this GoT season is only 8 episodes. So it is possible to get it all for free theoretically
That moment when you working on a Rick and Morty comic, and the bombing alarm breaks loose, all the phone lines are full and you gotta prepare for some Metro 2033 shit, then they say ''Yo, it was a technical problem''.

Fuck you, Glukhovsky. Not this time.

(Basically, the Stockholm bomb alarm went loose and me'n my brother prepared to run straight for the metro until the internet declared all was safe and I began furiously swearing against a Metro 2033 book).
You know the last post I did? The one about an Italian Metro 2033 universe?
Well, that inspired me to try and make a post-nuclear war Italy universe during the nuclear winter that would follow. The main concept is Italy not being such a main target, with major cities (ex. Milan, Rome) and US/NATO military bases taking the damage and leaving the peninsula with minor doses of radiation and fallout, also due to the mountains blocking winds from other countries.
Essentially, what I currently lack is ideas as in how would each survivor society come up: considering the large amount of places that could be settled (oh, believe me, Italy is full of them), I know not on how to fill them. So, I ask you if you have any random ideas for a post apocalyptic town/nation/settlement that could help fill an incredibly dense world.
The problem of this is: you don't know much about Italy, do you? That's why I said random ideas. If I were to stay here and explain to you the places in which people would pop up, it would take ages and you'd also go full Black Flames-claim mess. Just do random ideas and I'll discuss on how to place them around Italy.

Oh, and Sardinia? I'd say to ignore it. Sardinia's on its own terms. Poor Sardinia.
So, pliz help me. And don't just like the darn post: do something.

Idk I guess I don't really believe humanity would suddenly flip out and regress so much, so my ideas wouldn't be as far-fetched. Like, some kind of fisherman community that lives a nearly nomadic life at sea; and a group of people who decide that an abandoned castle might just give them the protection they need. They're not mindblowing, they're not super awesome, but you need normal people in any universe xP

Well, I think there would be three kinds of people here. The first are, as you said, the normal people, living by and simply surviving. The second are the crazy people, going nuts and angry over the end of the world and the unfairness of it all, bringing up mad stuff like the Roman Empire, a V8-motor cult or something else. The third are the rational people, trying to make the best out of such a dire situation, by isolating themselves or creating stable communities (of course, these people would be pretty rare). The thing about the apocalypse is that the concept of loosing everything, all around you, human history and humanity itself is so unfathomable, it would be easy to break and go nuts.

Well, I suppose there will always be a few nutjobs (or geniuses, depends xd) who will see the apocalypse as a perfect opportunity to try out new forms of government and lifestyles, but if you look at history, calamity tends to have two possible outcomes: either it wipes out the population entirely, as in Pompeii, or society breaks down for a few years and eventually goes back to how it was, or at least as close as it can depending on the circumstances. Paraguay lost nearly half of its whole population in the Paraguayan War; 70% of its men died, but it didn't utterly collapse as a nation. When the Black Plague got friendly with humans, I think it was a third of Europe's population that died? It was a huge amount in any case, and still, Europe remained Christian, feudal, and greedy for Eastern shit. These disasters are not as unbelievably destructive as a nuclear world war, but they serve to give us insight into how society reacts to massive tragedies. Welp dis came out way longer than I intended
To celebrate the announcement of Metro: Exodus, I've decided to present to you English folks what happened to Italy in the Metro 2033 world.
Because, as always, you British and Muricans will never have translated Metro Universe books, including Tullio Avoledo's ''Roots of Heaven'' and ''The Children's Crusade'', apparently among best in the bunch, and I was bored anyways, so here you have it. Italy in the year 2033, 20 years after WW3.

Italy seemed to be an incredibly unimportant target, so far with only 4 confirmed bombs launched upon Milan's airports of Linate and Malpensa, Ciampino's airport and the MBDA's headquarters. Despite the not-so-heavily irradiated landscape, nuclear winter does take its toll, the burnt ozone layer and the several mutants (or biological weapons?) haunting the night. Still, life finds a way, and dozens of settlements (with inhabitants numbered in tens) living in sheltered or isolated communities.

Rome's metro is not as deep as Moscow's, thus not being a reliable shelter on the long run. Christian catacombs actually did a better job in sheltering the population, with the Catacombs of St.Callixtus being the most important: they house the new seat of the Papacy, which is in a political fight with the Commune, the usual rich families with guns. And even then, the Papacy seems to be the largest known state, dotting Middle Italy with outposts and settlements. Its military is housed mostly in Castel Sant'Angelo's underground and Ravenna's stronghold, with a presence in Ancona.

Although, Rome is not just the popedom. The Swiss Guard knows of at least three settlements. A confederation of 3 stations, Subaugusta, Cinecittà and Anagnina, is in the target of the Commune for future subjugation; a settlement in Eur Fermi, which is still highly improbable due to it being a surface station; the technologically advanced, although just a transit station of Roma Aurelia.

Middle Italy is dotted with villages, like Orte, Torrita Tiberina, Rimini and Perugia, living in caves, sewers, mountains and whatever doesn't kill you instantly. Yet, a strong force lies in the Duchy of Urbino, which easily roofed the town's castle and uses it as its capitol, ruling over nearby settlements and hunting down mutants and cannibals. Cannibals in particular show regression in people's religions, for example Mithraism becoming an increasingly popular cult and Sant'Arcangelo di Romagna becoming somewhat of a Mecca for Mithra's followers.

Milan's metro remains quite populated, save for the surface-most stations.
A town was born under the preparations for the Expo, nearby Molino Dorino, and another one in Centro Bonola, a mall.
There are three main states in the metro. Los Chinos are mostly of hispanic and asian population, organising themselves in feuds. The Alberti tribes (somewhat resembling our Lega Nord) are racist, barbaric tribes who sealed themselves off in the farthest stations, surprisingly surviving in surface stations. The Sons of Wrath are a violent, militaristic society murdering and conquering all in their path, be it man or mutant.

So, uh, this is all. I didn't want to get too spoiler-y in the hopes of you having the books translated and for me waiting the third book. Enjoy also this sucky map I made.
You bastards clearly didn't read the last post and expected me to be back or to not have jet-lag, eh? Well, think again!
This Riko is back and wants to know whatever happened since the beginning of June!

Oh, I was also busy bashing my bishop for E3. You know, Anthem, Vampyr, Ashen, possibly Destiny 2 and Sea of Thieves, hopefully Kingdom Come Deliverance, OHMYGODANEWMETROFUCKYEAH!
I bashed that bishop specially for Metro Exodus.
Alright boys, while Riko continues his vacation (of work) in Sardinia, he (or I? Should I shift to first person singular?) worked (...works. DAMNIT WHAT DID I DO) on an interesting concept: how would the Roman Empire change or evolve if it had survived to this day? Yeah, I know, there's is great debate on HOW it would have survived, but it is, maybe, more interestin to think about the AND THEN?. So, how do you guys think the Roman Empire would evolve? How would its culture change? How would it interact with other nations in the world (which you are also free to speculate upon)? How would its technologies look like?

    See you in a week!
    ithewinner

2 things. 1 the world would be a shit load more religious than today, think bishops and shit like that having loads more power. Also, Europe would have a majorly different culture pretty much everywhere.

I just wonder how much earlier or later the New World would've been found by Europeans, and how that change in time period would've affected the course of modern history. Call me West-centric.
