VENTURES INTO THE REMOTE (RP)

Running across the wet deck Daugo nearly slipped and fell over but managed to wobble his way to the open doors. Once inside, away from the stinging rain and blinding winds, Daugo's vision would clear to see a corridor leading to various doors. One labeled 'kitchen', opposite to it 'rum cellar', then adjacent to them 'armory' and 'storage'. The Captain's Quarters didn't seem to be here...then Daugo saw a little staircase at the end of the hall leading somewhere, further towards the sterns, perhaps that was where the Captain's Quarters were?

Meanwhile Celeste snuck up the port side ladder to the Quarterdeck trying to stay close to the rails for cover. Sam crouched behind her and waited for her to give him the order to advance. The storm was getting out of control and this was clear from the growing waves and disastrous rocking of the ship. The two sailors that were driving the ship were struggling, as Celeste could see, both were yelling at each other but nothing was audible as the sound of the waves crashing; the wind bellowing; the rigging creaking; everything combined into a symphony of dispair. Celeste crawled forward attempting to grip onto the wet rails trying to see through the blinding precipitation.
"Sam, it's right ahead. I think...yes, I see it." A huge wave slammed the boat and sent her flying across the quarterdeck along with multiple sailors. It was so strong that it was felt everywhere. ---------------------------------

The hull shudder under the stress of the seas, the crashing wave sending Deslan and Grimnir flying, the former losing his grip of the plank while the other unlocked prisoners such as Dimitri and Thoruk slid on the grimy deck, their clothing fully drenched in the huge puddles that had formed.

Dimitri takes the plank and would use it as a weapon when the time came. He might not be as strong as he once was, but he could still crack a man's skull with his one arm.

''Curse this abyss of saltwater and all of its sailors!'' Deslan says. He decides to drop the crawling and hop around: it was unpleasant, but it was time to hurry. He quickly went for the fish barrel and rolled it against a wall, breaking it in planks and barrel rings. He limped to the planks and, leaning on the wall, threw them around. Player characters came first, useless NPCs later. Everyone was encouraged to hurl the plank or ring to the next guy and actively help people get free.

Sigeric, Margoz, Iver, and Elodrin were freed from their chains as the hull started to take in more water. The water was rising now. Growing from the toes of the slaves and continuing to increase in depth.
"Save us!" Shouted one of the slaves at Iver.
"Hurry. I don't want to die here, at least let me kill one of those orc-lickers up there!!" Another begged Dimitri. Only 11 of the 38 prisoners were freed. Still, 27 were chained, some being helped out, some helping themselves out, others unattended to. They needed to hurry faster. Where were Daugo and the keys?
Dean started to calm some of them urging them not to hyperventilate in the sight of the rising water levels as more poured it from the grates and hatch. Some planks were floating about in the water with the decaying fish food and one of the barrels falls over when the ship lurches to one side releasing scores of bilge rats into the water which scurried about, most drowning, some floating. All the heroes were freed but not all of their allies. This slave army could prove useful in overwhelming the slavers or just slow them down. Now the heroes were presented with two options:
Free the remaining slaves while being at the threat of drowning.
Ditch the extra weight and take vengeance on the slavers.

This choice would define and shape them forever. Who would grasp the ladder and seek to carry out justice and who would hold their loyalty and morals to those who have suffered alongside them?

Sigeric looked between the ladder and the slaves. His first instinct was to climb up and deliver justice to those who had disgraced him so. In the end, however, the tactical side of his mind won. They would need every man they could get if they expected to have a chance at taking the ship. He grabbed a plank and started to hammer it against the rusty chains of the closest slave. They would probably break more easily than the shackles themselves.

Daugo lurches towards the stairs but stops short, being afraid of going up there unarmed and finding himself face to face with a Man. He hesitates, thinking about going into the kitchen and getting a knife, but decides against this, his reasoning being that if there was someone upstairs he would probably still lose in a fight against him, regardless of whether he had a knife or not; furthermore, he could just as easily find a cook or someone else hiding out in the galley. His chest heaving in shallow breaths, he begins making his way up the stairs, terrified and watching out for practically any object he could use as a sort of weapon to put his mind at ease.

Grimnir Understood the situation, as he'd lust for the Sea to turn Crimson of Slaughter. He uses his plank instead to crush the bindings of the nearest slaves. Grimnir knew he could take on all the pirates by himself, and another Orc Army with it, as he did in his old days. Yet, Grimnir had no experience on Sea, perhaps these slaves would compensate that. He starts hammering their bindings, and rally their Numbers, starting with Dean espacially, and the ones near Him.

As Daugo ascended the stairs he came to a large door with alcoves on either side containing pictures of beautiful corsair ships, which to Daugo could be interpreted in any light, as well as vases containing flowers and delicate ornaments. The door was large and rather light brown with decorative designs marking it as of high value. No name plate suggested the name of this room but it was all too clear it had to be owned by the richest sod on this floating bucket, The Captain. The handle lay before him and no noise indicated someone to be inside. No windows for him to look in. The candlelights flickered as the ship groaned and swerved violently sending Daugo into a potted plant before returning to the ardous stormy rocking. This was it. 13527980

Celeste woke up under a tarp beneath a concealed scorpion. The weapon was covered over likely to protect it from the elements. Peeking her head out she could see the quarterdeck being swarmed by five sailors dragging a man between them. She instantly recognised Sam. He was being held by them and interrogated or something. She couldn't quite make it out. Glancing around she saw the ship was going out of control. Many of the sailors were abandoning their previous positions by the sails and masts, some men were loading up the rowboat, how useful it would be in this weather was questionable and others were retreating towards the galleries likely to escape the storm before it consumed them. This was bad. Then out of the gloom as a flash of lightning erupted through the dark skies she saw it.

Beyond the rail line there were other things. Another ship? Two? Something floating in the water? And beyond that some object? Was that land? Before she could take another look she heard a wet thump and saw them beating Sam with their fists. He would die. But if she tried to help so would she. She could only watch.
"I'm sorry." She muttered, selfishly, more to herself than to Sam.

Dimitri joins Sigeric and Grimnir at first, but there was something inside him that desired the blood of the man that whipped him. He wanted to kill him. No, he needed too. He turns away from the slaves and began to rush towards the deck when he heard a voice in his mind, crystal clear but harsh and cruel. "How DARE you abandon them. Cowardly swine, they help you and you leave them to die. I am ashamed to have you as my descendant." it hissed. Then came another feeling. He wanted to defy the voice, its what his father would've done. So, he returns, and hammers away on the chains like they were nails. "To arms, brothers and sisters. The hour of our vengeance is here."

"Aaghh" groans Daugo, getting up after a brief puking session. Delicately, he turns the doorknob, his heart thumping against his eardrums. While he did this, he tried to console his mind by telling himself that the ship was probably going to sink anyway, and that it was better to go out quick than drowning.

Margoz joins Sigeric in breaking the chains, he has all his family (the prisoners) in his mind, "I will not lose another one of my family. I already had too much bullshit to take. I will not bow down to some fucking pirate," he thinks to himself.

Once he was free Elodrin would sit there in the puddle of water that covered the hull of the ship, rubbing his wrists he would shakily stand using the wall for support as he got used the rocking of the ship and the fact that he could stand after 3 months. Limping over he would pick up two peices of the broken barrel Andy of to the nearest prisoner and start to bash the chain, once freed he would hand him the other part and tell him to help free the others. He would then go back and continue the process, discarding peices of wood that had been damaged to badly or when he had used it on to many chains.

After several minutes half the prisoners were freed and it would only take another two minutes to get the rest out. But what now? The hull was flooding, exponentially with water raining down from the openings above. The depth of the water had reached their knees yet the most pressing concern was for them to get out of the hull. There was a single ladder and 35 of them. They needed to start getting out. Some of the slaves were noticing this dilemma too and Dean spoke out first, "One at a time, don't rush. Hop on the ladder and climb up. And don't stop, no matter what." The first of the prisoners started to lean up and began climbing their way up the rungs. Just a few more slaves to free and they could depart this wretched place too. ----------------

The door creaked open and exposed the room. It was gorgeous with ornaments, statues, and pictures decorating the entire quarter. There was a bed in one corner and a desk in the opposite with mahogany chairs and striking maps of Middle-Earth and other places that Daugo couldn't recognize set about on the desk. Various nautical equipment lined the maps and for the briefest of glimpses, Daugo could see the ship's movement was recorded being off the map of Middle-Earth and somewhere south. He also saw that it wasn't just one ship, but.....four? There were other slave ships? Was this a fleet? Before he could examine this he heard footsteps behind him, coming up the staircase. What would he do? 13527980

Sam was dragged away into a room in the quarterdeck before the sailors resumed their duties and attempted a last chance to keep the ship afloat. Some were abandoning ship grabbing a rowboat and readying it while others maintained their stations at the mast and wheel. She was well hidden but the cold made her shiver and the winds whipped at her hair. The skies were darker than ever and the thunder roared incessantly. Lightning struck the water and she thought she saw it again. Some land in the distance and something else, now she was certain, there was another ship out there following their same route, but then another lightning strike and she froze in fear. There it was again. Something in the seas. She couldn't see it that well but the shape was large and distinct, that was for sure. As she contemplated what she had seen the ship swerved, turning and angling towards the distant land. They were heading for it.

After Thoruk broke the rest of his chaines of his feet he stands up but allmost falls down again cause he's shaking after all these months. He goes towards the ladder and climbes up with the other slaves and hides behind the nearest barrel while the rain drops down on his skin and he breathes fresh air thats not toxicated by fish and rats finally again. ((sry for not writing yesterday))

Grimnir looks at the slaves all lining up and highly disagrees. The strongest should go up, to cover the others, "Wazzocks, the strongest should go up first to cover the rest (zulul)" Grimnir rushes towards the ladder and makes his way up with plank in hand, he quickly dissapears from the main deck, running into the Captain's quarters where Daugo should be..

Sadly, Grimnir in his quick efforts falls as the ship turns, flopping on the deck like a fish. The plank flew from his hand and slid to the port side of the ship. The men on the quarterdeck and near the bow saw this and realized what was happening. In the midst of the storm a bell began to toll, slowly at first then urgently. Everyone could hear it ring through the howling winds.  In his impatient rush, he accidentally alerted the entire crew to his escape. Also, he had no idea where the Captain's Quarters were since he'd never been on a ship before.

Ten slaves along with Thoruk were hiding behind barrels, crates and unused scorpions when they heard Grimnir's crash and the bells. What would Thoruk do to save his fellow longbeard?

Below them in the hull the bell was heard toiling. Someone had tripped the alarm. They needed to get up the hatch quickly and secure it before it could be locked with them inside. Iver stayed and helped the rest of the prisoners to break their chains. "If we do it in groups of 2 we can break them faster" he says and hand one of the guys he just freed a plank. "Help me free the rest"
*The bell start ringing*
"I bet it's that fat dwarf flopped all over the deck" he looked over and searched for some of those Gondor warriors. "We need to secure the door so those fckers won't lock us in" he said while breaking the chains faster.

As Thoruk realises Grimnir got caught by the slippery ground he instandly reacts without even thinking what he's doing. "You 2," he says as he points toward 2 guys hiding next to him "I'll get the attention of those slavers and you get Grimnir out of their view." Before they could even ask Thoruk what to exactly do he jumps out of his hiding place into the view of the slavers that where looking at Grimnir. "Aye, ya filthy buggers, by Durin, I bet you can't even catch a dwarf ya silly orcish-lookin scumbags" he shouts at them in order to get their attention so Grimnir could get out of their field of view.

The slavers unsheath an array of weapons. One carrying two daggers, another grasping a single serrated knife and the third bearing some sort of trident or fishing pitch fork. They moved down from the quarterdeck towards Thoruk without formation or organisation. These were fierce pirates, they fought like warriors but they fought for themselves unlike soldiers.

The two men rushed forward and grabbed Grimnir by his shoulders, dragging him back towards the hatch-area where the rest of the slaves were, pulling him across the mucky deck much to his dismay. Once shielded behind the crates they let him go and looked on at Thoruk, valiantly facing the three slavers alone. Some of the slaves started to look around for items they could use and one had begun unwrapping a covered scorpion.
