VENTURES INTO THE REMOTE (RP)

Sigeric, perhaps he had it, Card had tried to give it to him after all. It was no use, he had no idea where it had gone; perhaps the black rangers took it? He wasn’t certain. All he knew was that he had lost one of the most powerful items in Middle Earth because he was an idiot. Cardiloc sighed and left the room.

Shin groaned. "This is getting incredibly annoying to do..." Tired, pissed off, and infuriated over everything related to the person he was hunting, the ranger continued the exhausting chase, not stopping until he actually got to the shifter.
[rule]
Ha'zi shrugged. "Just making physical contact with her, I suppose. There was nothing else that could suggest I should do otherwise."

"What do you mean? What's going on lass? Why do I have to leave?" He began to feel worried, she was always the happy and pleasant girl in the village, along with Equas, they were his company and maybe even his friends. But she seemed worried.

Sigeric gave Daugo a look that implied that they would further discuss the matter later. He listened to Mateus as he described how the Serpent had been "Neutralized". Why had he hesitated? He heard Kurio's matter-of-fact proclamation, and felt a cold anger rise up within him. "I told you to take him alive...", Sigeric thought to himself, his gaze slowly turning toward Mateus. How many times in the past week had Gondor ruined any chance of reconciliation with the proto-shifters? They were all useless. It had been Shin, hadn't it? That sadistic bastard. If that ranger had inherited its power, Sigeric was resolved to transfer it to someone more suitable. Men like him could never be trusted with such responsibility. Sigeric looked General Belzagar in the eye. "The last time I saw the Warrior, he was unconscious near the Executioner. He did not appear physically injured." Sigeric noticed the girl, upon whom most of the rangers' attention was focused. "Who is she?" He asked no one in particular. He had not been unnerved by the General's proclamation regarding Glorfindel. That Elf could survive anything.

And so they did. Thoruk was beaten by fourteen other dwarves before a dwarf came to fetch him since they had readied everything he needed to leave the Lonely Mountain.

---------------------------

"Tytus doesn't see a need for you. And he wants us to move since they know our place." Dina muttered. "Miriel wants you to stay but she challenged Tytus and lost...she was the one protecting you here. Who knows what Tytus will do to you now..."

"I WIN! I WIN!"

Arandil heard the Screaming Giant bellow in the distance. It beat its chest in triumph over the corpse of the Savage Giant and reached down to pick it up. He raised it into the air for all of them to see. The Savage was reduced to a headless torso with a single leg left hanging aimlessly beneath it.

"NO ONE SHALL DARE CHALLENGE MY SAY FROM THIS POINT ONW-"

His voice was cut off by an explosion of steam followed by what Arandil could make out to be an expenditure of energy in the form of a blast that surrounded the top of the Savage's torso. It expanded outwards, consuming the remainder of the torso and the Screamer's attached hand until he made out a large shape that displaced the area around it.

The Savage Giant's arm, a bone-like appendage now, swung out of the blast of energy and swiped at Screamer's neck. The Screaming Giant took a step backward then another and another until it came to a stop. The Savage calmly watched it as it opened its mouth as if to unleash another scream but instead, Arandil saw blood seep out. Suddenly, the Screamer's head rolled backward and fell off its neck. A clean-cut separated it from its body. It hit the ground with a THUMP.

A loud cheer erupted from the crowd of onlookers.

------------------------------

Eternal guard leaped after Iver and were frozen in their ascension by his breath. Telimekhtar was dueling two of them in a circle when the Flying Giant grabbed him.

Dimitri was missing. His giant had been destroyed by the guards and a skeletal husk sat in the middle of the room nearby the broken cage.

-----------------------------

Vana heard a wisp of air behind her as the Trickster fled without another word.

"My servant," Manwe looked down at her with his staunch features. "I do not wish to burden myself with such a pest as that filthy insipid insect. I task you with purifying Ea of its presence. Eradicate this so-called trickster."

-------------------------------

Cardiloc found himself in the house of Lady Eldrith. The weight of the day heavy on his back. But he could not stop now. He had to keep moving forward. If not for Arda, if not for himself, then for Ha'zi and all of those that had died so he could be here today.

Radaa, all those slaves, the elves, the men, his family and of course, everyone in that other time. Ha'zi had chosen him. And now here he was. He had to make their deaths count for something. He had to...

--------------------------------

"I'm sorry but he is the General. He can help you." Keratos whispered back to her.

"Do not let her out of our hands," Sigeric heard Belzagar say to Radmir. The General turned around, "It appears she was aiding them. Now, we must locate the Warrior Giant and the Serpent. An inheritor must be close? Who was it that-"

"Shin and Mateus were the closest. Then it was the girl and Keratos then I." Kurio answered pointing at the child that Keratos was sheltering with his huge body.

Daugo and Galador heard more soldiers arriving from both sides of the street. Ostopher along with a legion of rangers from the descending street and Vardamir with half of Squadron Five from the ascending street.

----------------------------

"Hmm, well then, our goal seems fairly obvious, doesn't it?" Keldar mused. "We must locate Aranel." He looked out over the millions of bodies and the destruction across Anorien. "Whoever she is," He turned back to Ha'zi. "Hello?" His voice changed.

Ha'zi's eyes opened.

There was a man touching his face, the sky was grey blue above him and he felt some dirt on his face.

"Hello?" It was a ranger. It took him a while to recognize that it was Helvion. "You okay, mate?"

"Where could that idiotic mountain brute be?" Iver asked himself as he jumped up, flapping his wings to get higher, maybe it would allow him to locate his idiotic friend.
[rule]
Vana was slightly shocked. "My lord, with all the respect, there must be someone more suitable to do the job" She would say.
[rule]
"I will not disappoint you sir" Radmir would say and turn around, walking towards the little girl and her large companion.

Daugo pursed his lips but said nothing, replying with a barely perceptible nod. His attention turned towards the discussion of the dead shifter and its inheritor. People never failed to surprise him with their sheer incompetence, despite his expectations being negligible most of the time. He remembered having told Belzagar that he would lead the diplomatic mission to the enemy giants, and cursed the idiotic Gondorians for their rashness. He regarded that ranger, Mateus, with contempt.

Mateus did not feel the Hobbit's burning gaze, but he did feel a slight blush creep up his neck; he knew they had acted irresponsibly and with undue force. "How would I know if I was the inheritor?" he asked.

Daugo scoffed. "You'd know."

"A honor to have lost against ya, my brothers." he'd say, picking up his axes and putting on his armor, taking the last few drops from his mug of ale. "As you see I'm not a god, I'm a dwarf like you guys are, a son of Durin and you can beat me as you saw. If you train harder you will even be able to beat Morgoth and through that you will show everyone in middle earth your capabilities and show everyone that you're equal to a god's power my brothers! May Durin be with you, with all of you! Baruk Khazad!" he'd call out to the dwarven group, waving with one hand before turning around, as he starts following the other dwarf, ready to leave his home, ready for the beginning of the ending.

--------------

"But he's a devil!" she'd say, trying to keep it quiet. She'd overthink everything, looking at Keratos. Keratos seemed so friendly, like the father she never had, although he was a guard, Tamara somehow felt like she could trust him. "The tree..." she'd think, reminding herself of the storys the old lady told her when she was nothing but a little girl, having a home, food, a warm bed and most importantly, someone who loved her. "The white tree.." she'd say again, mostly to herself, but still speaking it out loud, a bit sunken into thoughts. Yet, she'd snap out of them with a question, firing it at Keratos like a arrow, out of nowhere. "They won't hurt me? Can you protect me if they want to?" she'd ask the big man in shiny, glimmering armor. She herself wasn't sure what she ment with that, but she still asked it, ending her request with a "Swear it" trying to give him the puppy-eye look before she saw another guard, Radmir, approaching the two of them. She would back off, going two steps backwards.

"BARUK KHAZAD!" The dwarves chanted as the Ironbeard left them.

Thoruk found quite the interesting entourage awaiting him. It was a drawn-horse and carriage with a cart attached to the rear end by a series of ropes and pulleys that appeared to anchor it. A number of barrels lined the open rear of the cart whilst the carriage had two dwarves manning it. They waved at Thoruk as he approached.

"Grimsby and Grimsbold!" They said aloud in unison. "And you must be Thoruk Ironbeard?"

----------------------------

"Yeah..." Dina murmured as she watched with interest as the fight concluded.

Steam erupted out of the protruding emptiness left in the wake of the Screaming Giant's neck and a man crawled out. The Savage reached down and cupped her hands around him, carrying him up and walking slowly over to them all. Upon reaching near the Savage let him down then sat, curling its legs up, leaned back and its nape opened. Miriel walked out of a cloud of steam. Blood coated her ashen face and blended in with her dark red hair.

"Miriel is the Chieftan." Lasser proclaimed. "Do any of you have qualms about this?"

-------------------------------

Iver heard the classical scream that could only be created by the smashing of a kneecap.

In the far corner of the chamber, eight eternal guard surrounded Dimitri. One of them was on the floor, his kneecap destroyed by a blunt smash from the Forochelrim's fists which had hardened into steel.

----------------------------------

"Are you questioning my choice, servant?" Manwe rounded on her.

---------------------------------

"So who is the inheritor and how would we know?" Kurio asked the hobbit specifically. "You appear to be knowledgeable, Behemoth. Do tell."

Keratos placed a hand on Tamara's shoulder and kept her still. "I won't let anyone hurt you. I swear it."

Belzagar's eyes darkened as he watched both conversations develop.

Iver would swiftly glide towards the corner aiming to hit two the guards and tackle them from behind.
[rule]
Vana blushed in shame, "N-no master Manwe, it is just.... I question my own abilities, i do not want to disappoint you and fear the mission." She would say, in respond, hoping that she did not angered Manwe.
[rule]
Radmir would stand next to Keratos "I am ordered to stay with you two" He would say and look at the little girl, this shouldn't be so hard to babysit her, she will probably just be amazed by all of the fancy shit the rich idiots in the upper levels had.

"Aye, hiding in my armor" he'd say, putting off his helmet. "So you're my companion for this journey?" he'd ask a bit surprised. "I didn't want to get my kind involved in this so early..." he'd mumble before giving them a response. "Well then, you know what this is all about?" he'd ask them, as he hasn't seen them anywhere around him when he performed his 'magic' back then. Would they know what to expect of this journey?

--------------

She'd falter a bit, but eventually willing to go with them. "Okey then.... go ahead!" she'd say, as she raises her head like some sort of a noble, waiting for Keratos and Radmir to go ahead, feeling her stomach grumbling a bit. "You don't have food up there, do you?" she'd ask, holding her stomach with one arm, her head bent downwards again, giving Keratos an innocent look as this seemed to be the best way to convince this guard from helping her.

Daugo sucked his teeth and stared at Kurio. "Of course I'm knowledgeable." He sighed, remembering that time in a cave in the island when Iver had ripped apart poor Andreth. It felt almost like a legend from another life, a tale of mistakes and misadventures, stillborn friendships and cruelty, so much cruelty.

"There is a mark that identifies all of us, like a black flame." He turned and showed them his nape. "When one of us dies, the mark smokes and becomes engraved in the skin of the inheritor. It is a burning sort of feeling, one that I doubt Mateus would have failed to notice."

"I felt nothing of the sort," said the ranger, looking at the ground.

"Fuck..." He muttered, irritated that his time with Keldar was over so soon. Ha'zi then noticed he was being awkwardly touched by a dirty face above him which was, luckily, a familiar one. "Oh, uh, hey there, Helvion. How's it going?"

Sigeric, who was watching the General closely, noticed his eyes darken. He distrusted the man, yet he still did not know why, nor did he have any concrete reason to suspect him of anything in particular. Hearing Daugo and the rangers' conversation, Sigeric tried to determine who the inheritor was. Fortunately, it appeared that Mateus had not received the Serpent's powers. It appeared that the only two candidates remaining were Shin and the girl, considering that Keratos and Kurio had not noticed anything. Sigeric could not decide which option was worse: a sadistic ranger who couldn't follow simple commands, or someone who was either an untrained civilian or an ally of the Protos. Sigeric approached the girl, whom Keratos appeared to be comforting. "My name is Sigeric. I do not mean you any harm." he said, keeping some distance in order to avoid frightening her. "What is your name?" he asked, while looking for any noticeable marks such as those that denoted a Shifter.

"Yes. The King instructed us to aid his chosen warrior in all endeavors." Grimsbold intoned.
"We are glad to serve you, Master Ironbeard!" Grimsby bowed his head. His companion did the same.

------------

No one said anything.

"Alright. Back to your duties." Lasser muttered.

"Wait," Miriel called to them before the crowd dispersed. "As Chieftain of our people, our tribe, I pronounce a final solution to those bastards who took Mirecyla and Endo."

Berethor's eyes shone, Lasser raised an eyebrow and frost hardened around Thule's fingertips. They all tensed as Miriel came before them, dragging Tytus along behind her. He was grimacing but kept quiet.

"We're going to take back our family from them and make it so that they can never hurt us again. Remember what they did to us," She looked around the field, "Not just Gondorians but all of these people."

Miriel waved her hand across the blue afternoon sky. "The eastern horsemen, the woodland brutes, the northern knights, everyone of them, they've taken from us. How many of our brothers and sisters did we lose to them? How many did we lose to Aranel? That monster. My own sister. Flesh and blood. She took from us. And so I made the decision that she would no longer be able to. And here," She planted her foot into the ground. "Here is where I make the decision that no one shall harm us."

"They hate us, they despise us, they do not understand who we are. This..." She looked at her own palm and curled it into a fist, "This is what has been bestowed upon us. We did not choose this fate. But we must fight against it. We must not submit to our fate."

The crowd of prototypes watched on in awe.

"All I want is for them to never hurt us again. Tytus' actions, his diplomatic plan failed. They murdered Evenis. They tried to kill Berethor and him. Isn't that right, Ber?"

"Yes. We tried to negotiate for a settlement and a release of Mirecy and Endo but the Slayer attacked. He nearly beheaded Tytus and stabbed me with his blade. They assaulted us with flint-arrows and steel arms. They are monste-"

"One of their giants, the Guardian, he tried to spe-"

"Shut up, Tytus!" Someone threw a rock at the Screaming Shifter as he attempted to speak up.

Raddis walked over and grabbed Tytus, pushing him down onto his knees and told him, "Eh, quiet boi. Ya in na place ta speak."

Miriel coughed and continued, "The only way to reason with these monsters is with force. We must defend ourselves against them. They cannot be allowed the opportunity to harm us."

"What about Morgoth?" Equas asked. "What do we do about him?"

Miriel regarded that question with wariness. "He does not care for us. Only for the Eight Karoltai."

"But wha-"

"Equas," Berethor silenced him with a look.

Miriel sighed. "I know most of you do not wish for any more violence. But if you wish for peace, then prepare for war. That is the only way for us to achieve peace."

"Aye," Thule stepped forward. "Anything for the family."

"For Mirecy," Berethor joined her.

"For peace," Lasser sighed.

"Fookin' 'doorians." Raddis laughed.

"With ya, Miriel." Someone else came forward.

And so more and more came forward until it came to the point where Dina stepped up. Three had yet to come forth and pledge their allegiance. Equas remained back; Tytus was on his knees behind Miriel, a sign of defeat; and then there was Arandil.

What would he do?

---------------------------

Iver successfully took down the guards and grabbed ahold of the flailing Forochelrim.

Suddenly, he felt someone on his back.

"I'm going to get us out of here right now before it's too late." The Trickster said. "Hold on to your butts."

--------------------------

"Then do not." Manwe replied and with that his physical form vanished, leaving Vana alone in the palace garden. She had been tasked with hunting down and slaying the murderer of her husband and the corrupter of her daughter. A foe that was to her equal in threat or greater than that of the Black Enemy, Morgoth himself.

------------------------

"Here!" Cardiloc heard his voice from below. "I found Berethor!" He was downstairs.

-----------------------

The bloody footprints led Shin back up the fourth level through a side alley that he used to frequent back in the day in order to find young plumpy noble ladies looking for a good ol' corner shaggin'. Good times.

The prints brought him to a noble's estate. It appeared the suspect had dragged himself over a bush wall, having his clothing ripped in the thistles. Shin could try to jump over and likely meet a similar fate or go around to intercept him should he exit the building. What else was he doing in this particular house?

-----------------------

"Good, I guess. The fuck happened to you?" Helvion assisted Ha'zi onto his feet. Rangers from Ha'zi's training days surrounded him. He saw many familiar faces and recognized a few missing ones. Unfortunately, Arcturus was there grimacing at him. Fortunately, Vardamir was there to keep the drill sargeant from forcing him to wash latrines.

"Are you alright? What happened?" The Captain asked the Haradrim.

------------------------

"Yes, you'll get food, just-" Keratos was cut off as Kurio placed his cane underneath Tamara's left arm which she had forgotten to cover whilst he right arm latched onto her stomach in her desperate display of hunger. Kurio raised the cane and twisted it to reveal the left under a section of her forearm which had a black splotch that resembled a serpent's fangs.

"Like this?" The old man asked Daugo, sneeringly. "I believe we've found our culprit, sir."

"Take her. All of you," He looked to the Karoltai and remaining rangers. "With me, now."

------------------------

Tamara was seized by Keratos, who did try to comfort her but more or less pulled her along. She was engulfed by the train of rangers and had little say in what was happening. She was being arrested, it appeared yet for what...it was unknown to her. Perhaps it was her thieving. Perhaps it was assisting those prisoners. Or something else...the only caveat was that she was being taken to the top level. The place they called the Citadel. Where the White Tree was...

Kurio rounded up the rest of the rangers from Squad Ten and kept his eye on the girl. Mateus, Keratos, Furdin were there to serve as her protectors alongside that one lad called Radmir. What a strange name. Cochran had yet to show up after he deserted and Arthor was taken to the Houses of Healing for his leg. Shin was the last one who was still missing. Mateus said he had gone after a suspect who the Guardian had confronted. Strange...the Guardian did not mention any such suspect.

Speak of the devil. Sigeric and Daugo were attended by Galador and a host of other rangers and followed Belzagar up the levels. They eventually came into contact with Ha'zi, who had been located by Vardamir's squadron. There Helvion, Arcturus and many others joined them. Ostopher and Rambo along with their respective squadrons gathered too. It was quite the host.

After an hour of traversing the levels of Minas Tirith, they reached the Citadel barracks. All non-essential personnel were dispatched. The remaining rangers, mostly squadrons five, ten and eleven filled the chambers of the Citadel barracks while Belzagar took the stage alongside Ostopher, Vardamir, and Kurio.

Ha'zi, Sigeric, and Daugo were seated along the front row. The Karoltai had little time to speak and what little they could say was overheard by their companions. As such the revelations of Ha'zi's memories, or well, the memories o the future Warrior Giant, were contained within his mind. A mind that Sigeric just so happened to be accessing as Belzagar began accessing the details of the situation.

"There was a breach of security. It appears a number of prototype giants have infiltrated the city and staged a release to one of their kind whom we captured from the previous day. Unfortunately, our dungeons are not capable of containing them and as such, it was easy for these infiltrators to plot their escape..." He went on about the situation.

"Many questions have been raised due to certain issues faced today." The General's eyes fell on the Karoltai. "The Warrior Giant was found unconscious in the streets; the one known as Cardiloc who was stored in the dungeons alongside the Serpent is missing; many rangers and people reported being unable to move and hearing commands by the Guardian Giant to cease activity and also, I add, "to breathe"; and the infiltrator giant known as the "fear girl", danger level A, has sealed herself away inside a shard of crystal that apparently resembles the same material that the Guardian Giant can produce; on top of all of these, the elf, Glorfindel has managed to evade capture throughout the city, defeated a number of our force, and escaped. According to the report from the first level garrison, he and I quote, "blew a hole through the wall using a diamond stone." Glorfindel is classified as SS-level dangerous. For comparison, the Behemoth is classified as S-level of danger."

Belzagar sighed and crossed his arms. "Does anyone have an answer to any of these questions? Or know anything valuable that can contribute to answering them?"

Tamara was kept towards the left section of the front row with Squad Ten. Squad Eleven lined the left row and Squad Five took up most of the rear and middle rows. Sigeric was able to access Ha'zi's mind and answer one of the questions. It appeared that the Haradrim had fallen unconscious after a revelation from the Executioner Shifter, the one Berethor had called 'Mirecy', that he had children. After that Ha'zi's thoughts focused on the memories of the Warrior Giant, specifically something to do with Keldar. Yet...Sigeric could not delve deeper into those memories without directly confronting Ha'zi. Something had happened in those memories that had an effect on the Haradrim. It appeared he was driven towards a cause. Though...what that could be was unknown to Sigeric.

Endo had found Berethor, thank wulf, Cardiloc supposed he had failed in his pursuit of Mirecy and returned. “How is he?” He shouted back, making his way down below.
