VENTURES INTO THE REMOTE (RP)

"Aye, my brothers, you don't have to bow from me. See me as a friend of yours, I don't want to be treated like a King, because I am none." he'd say, walking towards them. "But I'm glad for your companion and that you're willing to join me. So tell me, what are you specialties my friends. Fighting? Crafting? Read tracks of enemies?" he'd ask curious of what they were capable off.

--------------

"I-Is this a poison or something that will kill me?" Tamara would ask Keratos, looking at the black dot on her hand. "It hurt so much at first, it has to be poision right?" she'd ask him, giving him a worried look.

"I beg your pardon, general, but I heard no questions, only facts. Ha'zi was likely just knocked unconscious during the fight, and not one of us can say where Glorfindel might have fled to. As to the paralysis incident, I, too, experienced it; incredibly odd, and all the more so because the voice sounded eerily like Sigeric here." He turned towards the two companions that he had named. "You should clear these affairs up, my friends, that we may move on to the matters that are actually important."
12519458 16315828

Mateus grunted. "It didn't sound like the Guardian. It was the Guardian." Daugo did not acknowledge him.

Iver turned around and used his frost breath to create an ice barrier around him while waiting for Orome to get them the fuck out.
[rule]
Vana knelt for a little longer, still in shock. Manwe just asked her to hunt down one of the strongest beings in the world. She would get up and summon some of her maiar, she needed to prepare.
[rule]
Radmir followed the girl to citadel while thinking about his poor choices. "How did i manage to assign myself to babysit one of those fucking monsters" He mumbled to himself.

"I do all the verk!" Grimsbold stated.
"Vat?" Grimsby rounded on him.
"And 'e sleeps all ze day!" Grimsbold shrugged.
"Ay' now 'op on and tell us 'vere ya vant ta go!" Grimsby shoved Grimsbold lightly.

-------------------------

Snap.

The Flying Giant landed on snow. Cold white snow. They were in some sort of mountain range. Mist and clouds floated around them and Iver couldn't see beyond the great below. Dimitri was asleep. It appeared he had been knocked unconscious when Iver grabbed him.

"Where have you taken us?" Telimekhtar's question was more so a demand rather than a request.

"The Orocarni." Orome exhaled into the cold atmosphere.

----------------------------

A number of Maiar appeared at her behest. They were spirits of nature. Some taking the form of birds and beasts while others were gowned in elegant woodland outfits with bows and spears.

"Lady Vana. What is it you desire?" One of the many asked, bowing his head to her.

-------------------------------

"We've got a problem!" Cardiloc heard Endo as he stepped down the stairs and made it to the bottom. He saw both men at the door. Berethor's leg was drenched in blood and he looked beaten up.

"They took Mirecy. She crystalized herself after Sigeric shut her down. He's there, by the way, Sigeric. He saw me. And so did the others. They know. I barely escaped." Berethor told Cardiloc.

"What now?" Endo asked.

---------

"I don't think so. After this I'll have one of the healers take a look at it, okay. Just sit still and try to listen, Lil Lady Tam." Keratos said to her.

"My apologies," Belzagar's eyes focused on the hobbit with a certain surreal gleam to them, "Next time the city is attacked I'll let you rephrase the facts into questions." There was a slight smirk at the corner of his lips.

"Now. First order of business, who experienced immobility or an order to cease activity?"

Over fifty percent of the individuals in the room raised their hands to varying degrees.

"And who heard a voice in their mind or rather commanding them?"

Again. A repeat of hands raised.

"I see. And who recognized it to be the voice of the holder of the Guardian Giant?"

A number of hands fell but many remained lifted.

Belzagar stared at Sigeric. "Care to explain yourself, Mister Redhaven?"

14628767 13615485 12700073 13527980 12519458

"and where the fuck is that" over would screech in confusion, seeing nothing but mist and snow.
[rule]
"We have been given a task, we must eliminate the foul being known as the trickster" she would announce.
[rule]
Radmir didn't raise his hand with the crowd, he was too busy thinking about the mess he just put himself into.

“There’s no way your going back out there Berethor, especially not with your leg. That leaves me and you Endo, it’s up to us to extract her. But there’s something else.” He sighed. “The Silmaril, it’s gone. Either the rangers took it when I was captured or Sigeric Redhaven has it. Now we can’t just brazenly walk up to either of those problems as brazenly as you did Berethor; we’re going to need stealth. Now while I’m a big burly Dunlending, I’m also a hunter so that shouldn’t be difficult. Berethor stay here and rest your leg, for now Endo we’re focused on reconnaissance. We need to find where Mirecy is and then plan how to get her out. I’ll bring her here to pick you up Berethor then we’re getting the fuck out of this damned city once and for all. But before that happens I’ll need to pay our ranger friends a silent house call. Understood?” Cardiloc finished, looking at the other two.

"A'ight then lads." he'd say, grabbing his beard. "Weird fellows, but I like 'em" he'd think. "We need to follow the celduin river, on the eastern bank, depending on how things go it will take us a bunch of days. As soon as we get to a certain point at the river I will release you from your duties and you may return to our beloved mountains my brothers. From there on out I have to go alone, but till then, I'm blessed by your presence my brothers." he'd say, waiting for them to finish their little talk and ready to start their journey.

------------

"No poison?" she'd ask letting out a breath of relief. "I'm lucky once then." she'd say, mostly to herself at this point. "You have healers up here?" she'd ask Keratos. "My mum never told me about that, when we were sick she always said 'it will get better eventually'" she'd lie, trying to get the lie with her having a family going strong. She somehow had to stay with it, they didn't seem to suspect her to be a thief or atleast didn't recognize her.

"Oh by Eru, isn't this a tricky situation. What will be the outcome of any of my decisions,if you don't mind me asking?" He said with a confident look that was ready to shatter.

"Because I have no momentum or heart to kill my brothers, I lost an entire regiment full of my comrades, friends and kin. All in a small time span. I do not wish to see more lads die, not anymore. I.. just want to try and live my life without witnessing anymore brutality and slaughter against my kin."

"I've been through the whole war of the ring, through the battle of Minas Tirith, and I was in the front lines of the expedition when we were being slaughtered like sheep. I wish not to bare witness to anymore of .. of this"

With that he took 3 steps back. Just three. No more no less. He stared down the shifters in front and stood firm.

"Ah, those were some wild days," said Shin, reminiscing over his time in this spot. He had quite a many thrilling bouts here, with a wild variety of partners to accompany him... "Get it together, mate. Not the best opportunity to think about this, even if it's enjoyable." Shaking his head, though with a light smirk, the ranger circles around the gross plot.

Sigeric glanced at Daugo. It would have been nice if the Halfing were to actually back him up. His mind raced with possible explanations that could convince the Gondorians. He matched Belzagar's stare, and spoke up. "I had never witnessed this mass paralysis before, General." It was the truth, Sigeric supposed. He had never used it until today. Looking around and meeting the gazes of the Gondorians around him, he continued. "Perhaps I would be better able to explain this if you told me more about what you experienced. What exactly was it like? Are you certain that it was my voice?" Sigeric struggled to come up with a rational albeit false explanation that could convince the Gondorians. His questions were not only intended to buy time, however. There were fewer people in this room than when he had attempted to alter the solders' memories. Perhaps he had the energy... Sigeric would attempt to tap into the surrounding rangers' minds far more subtly than before. He did not seek to erase the events that they had seen or experienced. He meant only to slightly blur them, to cast a shadow of doubt on what they thought they had witnessed. In addition, he sought to ever so slightly alter the Gondorians' disposition toward him. He was an ally. A friend. These were the imperceptible subliminal messages that Sigeric would attempt to imprint on their consciousnesses.

Rambo was uncertain, he had heard a voice sure and had raised his hand over that, but he was uncertain it had been Sigerics; after all he had been caught up with the flow of citizentry. Was Belzager looking for a scapegoat to blame his failure on, was he merely hallucinating the voice or was he telling the truth, “Sir.” Rambo interjected. “I don’t think it’s the best time to start pointing fingers, it could’ve been one of the Protogiants who caused that event.” After Sigeric spoke Rambo seemed puzzled, something didn’t feel right; but then he suddenly felt assured of Sigerics good intentions, what was going on?

"Aye, aye!" The dwarven duos chanted as Thoruk hopped on and they departed the Lonely Mountain. Thoruk was treated to the carriage and found it very royal. Its design had an interior protected from the environment outside which contained a small bed fit for his size along with some sheets and two feathered pillows. It was quite expensive and a major change from everything he had become accustomed to over the past year flying around the world with Iver. It had been harsh on his hardy body yet he had endured. Maybe this change wasn't all that bad. Maybe he could rest a bit after all the shit he had been through...

The Dwarf succumbed to sleep. His thoughts wondered about his friends. Iver...who had disappeared...Arandil who he had left behind in that village of murderers; Marco who he had left with those stupid western men and Sigeric, Daugo and Ha'zi all of whom had elected to remain in Gondor; to Dimitri who was abducted by that edgy forest hunter and to Cardiloc who had disappeared in Ithilien; even Grimnir who he had last seen being tortured by someone atop the walls of Morgoth's fortress...who was that person...

What had become of them? Were they dead? Alive?

A pang of guilty grew in the Dwarf's heart. Was he abandoning them for some Valar's cause? Was his destiny...this providence that took him to find Eonwe in search of some mystical gem in the sky was it all in vain? Thoruk had seen the might of Tulkas defeated by Morgoth. He had witnessed Manwe's wroth on the island. What could he do against such entities? He was but an insect to them...like all his people...he had been created by one.

These thoughts came to occupy his mind for the journey which lasted less than a week.

"Vere ve are!" Thoruk heard Grimsby's voice from outside the cart.
"I tink vis is ze right place!" Grismbold reinforced it.

--------------------------------

The Trickster, understanding Iver even through his bat-like screeches answered, "The Easternmost mountains of Middle-Earth. This was the location of many dwarven settlements which delved into the bowels of the earth and extracted materials that not even you could imagine. But those were better times. Now this mountain chain is empty except for one soul. My brother Aule. He is imprisoned within the tombs of his bearded creations. If we're going to put an end to this war we'll need as much help as we can get. Now I need both of you to start digging," Orome hopped off Iver and gesticulated to Dimitri and the Flying Giant. "He is directly beneath us. Locked beneath layer upon layer of solidified iron and magma."

------------------------------

The forest spirits tensed.

"Then we shall fulfill it," The first replied softly.

"Or die trying." They spoke in unison.

---------------------------

The wind was light on Arandil's face as he took his stand against them. Dina's face was a mix of disappointment and pity. She opened her lips, "Arandil-"

"No! I refuse to bow as well!" Equas marched over to Arandil. "Tytus is my chief. He is and always will be! This-this was not fair. We can't just kill everything because we're different! Can we?! Why is it always kill this an' kill that?! Why can-"

"Equas," It was Tytus' voice who interrupted the boy. He looked up and saw the Screaming Shifter stand beside Miriel then kneel at her feet. "This is the way it must be. I lost. It is custom. Do not be so stupid to forfeit your life. And neither should you," He glanced at Arandil.

Miriel smiled. "Thank you, Tytus." She gazed at Arandil. "If you cannot bring yourself to fight your people, I understand. I only ask that you stand aside as we reclaim our own family. I'm sure you understand."

Equas' features were a grimace as he took a step forward, then another and another until he was aligned with them all.

----------------------

"Got it," Endo nodded. "We'll stay in the basement until you come back." Cardiloc noticed Berethor's wound healing back already, faster than most other wounds and with less steam involved.

----------------------

Shin found his way around to the front of the house. The door to the garden was left unattended.

----------------------

"Mmm," Keratos muttered in reply to Tamara's tale. He seemed too focused on the man the General was talking to...the one who had been at the incident.

"So you're denying any inclusion in this?" The General asked.

"He...I don't think it was him. The other one...the girl...she made me see things...hear things." Someone muttered.

"Yeah," Another agreed with Rambo.

"Why would he do anything to hinder us? This must be a scheme by our enemies." Ostopher agreed. Belzagar turned skeptically to look at the man with a raised eyebrow.

"He has been with us for quite sometime," Vardamir agreed.

It appeared the crowd had swayed to Sigeric's favour.

"Mhm," Belzagar murmured. "So you deny any involvement in this issue? Does anyone dispute this fact? Will anyone point the finger of blame upon Mister Redhaven?" Belzagar asked the crowd. His eyes fell upon Ha'zi and Daugo as if begging them for an answer since both had remained silent throughout this inquisition.

------------------

The night was dark in the forest. A pile of bloody remains lay outside a small cabin. Inside four had gathered around a smoldering hearth.

"More wood? It's so cold..." Aranel asked as she sat, hands around her knees, curled into a ball with a shroud covering her back and hair.

"No. This is enough. We don't want to attract any more attention to ourselves. Not until we're ready." Her master spoke. He had been the one she had first seen when she awoke.

"Hmm-okay." She mused. Time passed silently as they warmed up against it. She thought of what had happened so far. The gorge where she was born. Her master's tales. The elves. The folk in this house. Her mind wondered to the bloody remains that Norio had left outside the house.

She looked up and at the fellow. He was staring into the fire. His bloodshot eyes illuminated in its glow. He always wore a mask over his lower-face and never spoke. Not once had she heard his voice. Yet Beren-no-Master Beren always seemed to understand him.

Suddenly his eyes flicked and fell upon her. She quickly looked away. Her heart rate spiked. He scared her. But...he was not as bad as the other one...

She did not dare glance at him. He was further from the flame and her back was turned to him. Now...Norio was scary...but the other one...no...he made her blood curdle and chill. Unlike Norio, he spoke occasionally from now and then but his voice was quite ordinary...it was his...everything else. His movements were catlike, fast, incredibly fast. Agile too. He broke those people's necks before she even realized. The baby couldn't even scream before...

She stopped thinking about it. Norio had taken care of the aftermath. Beren had told her it was normal. Required in fact. She agreed with it. This was life. And only the strongest survived just as Master Beren said. They would purify this world. Make it strong. So that no one would ever have to die again.

“Oh no Endo, your with me. Now, let’s go. Berethor you get some rest, we’ll pick you up in a bit.” Cardiloc nodded to his companion, he’d turn to Endo, “We’ll scan the third level from the roof tops, Endo I’ll need you to use your ability while I survey the area.” Cardiloc held his hand out for Endo, once he grabbed onto it he’d teleport onto the rooftops he vaguely remembered seeing when he had flown off after the serpent in the first place m.

Whoosh.

They landed atop one of the many third level houses. Below them was the scene of the disaster. Cardiloc saw the skeletal remains of some giant being dragged away by Gondorian soldiers. Fortunately none of them were looking to the skies so Endo and him were unseen, however, his partner pulled him back down to the roof tiles so that they weren't so obviously sticking out.

"What the hell happened?" Endo asked as they gazed upon a few bodies. Far below Cardiloc recognized one of them. It was the Serpent Shifter from the caves. He was among the deceased. One of the soldiers laid a tarp over him.

12700073

"Stand aside"... he smiled. "And for you to reclaim you family, that would mean death and suffering for my kin." He let out a sigh. He remained where he stood , he raised his head up high and yet again he stood firm. But he knew that whatever he would do, they would not stop, no words that can come out of his mouth can convince them that this is not the only way. But he would still try.

"There are more ways for you to take back your family. But I see that almost all of you are dead set on taking them back by force. But I will never be able to forgive myself for just standing aside as my kin and brothers are butchered."

"I ask this of you; I might be able to find a way to bring you and your family back together, I can plead with my kin for their return and keep your village a secret from our forces. But I need you to give me this chance, so we might get the outcome we all want without bloodshed, for I have seen enough of it."

“No idea, nothing good though. Especially considering Berethor ended up wounded. Damn it, where is Mirecy. Got any ideas Endo?” He looked over at the man expectantly, pursing his lips.

Sigeric could hardly believe his eyes and ears. It was working? Maybe his luck was starting to turn around, though he doubted it. He nodded at Belzagar's question. "I would do nothing that would harm my comrades." He looked toward Daugo and Ha'zi. Although Sigeric said nothing, his eyes spoke for him. They held no malice or threat; only a calm expectation that they would help in his time of need.

Iver shrugged and and started digging in his bat form, wondering how is Lil Tali and Dimitri aren't freezing as this place was as cold as sigeric's heart.
After digging for a while Iver would ask Orome in bat screech "aye, so why are we digging your brother out of the prison if you found out where Eru is. Can't we just get to him and ask him to do it for us?" He would ask before adding "and shouldn't there be guards around the prison? I mean Dimitri had a fuck ton of guards".

"I-I said it sounded like him, not that it was him. Plenty of foes could've done it, there's no reason to turn on one of our most trustworthy companions. For all we know, it was Sauron or some enemy shifter," he said, half-disbelieving the words that he was uttering. He made a mental note to have a long talk with Sigeric after these formalities, but the idea of him being an enemy was laughable, even to one as distrusting as himself.

Mateus, similarly, mulled in silence, glaring at Sigeric. He had been convinced that it had been him, had been ready to apprehend him just a moments ago, but the more he thought about it, the more far-flung it seemed... And he looked so reliable, so trustworthy... He couldn't possibly have done it, not with evil intent, at least.

"No." Miriel said, her head tilted down. "Tytus tried to talk. Now we try it my way." She looked at Raddis and Berethor. "Take him."

"Av been a-waitin' a-long time for dis," Raddis chimed and sucked air through his enlargened nostrils, gleaming with elation. "I can smell ya fear boi," He marched towards Arandil.

"Lasser," Miriel turned the other man, "Have you accessed Marco's mind?"

"Joplin's Inheritor?" The man queried.

"Yes. Have you used your power on him already?"

"Yes. Can't do it again I'm afraid."

"Raddis, don't kill him. Put him with the other one. Once the time comes, we'll transfer the Leviathan to Arandil and Lasser will use his ability on him." Miriel called to the black man.

"Miriel we don't have to-" Dina pleaded.

"We do, Dina. He made his choice. He chose them. Now we make ours."

And so Arandil was faced as Raddis blundered towards him with an eerie smile on that ugly face of his followed by Berethor and a few others. He heard Miriel's conversation and remembered that name.

Marco.

Wasn't he the one those Karoltai had been so desperate to save in Mordor? Wasn't he the one that...

Joplin's Inheritor...that's what Lasser called him.

Oh, Eru.

----------------------

"I don't know where he is. I just know he can't be dead. Okay. And yeah, let me worry about those." Orome said with his back turned to Iver. The Valar was staring off into the distance as if admiring the misty foothills below. What was wrong with him?

---------------------

"If she ain't here then either she got away or-no-Berethor said she crystalized...meaning she must be in a crystal shard like your friend's...so that means-"

"OI! GET 'EM!" One of the guards yelled from below attracting Cardiloc and Endo's attention. They saw a man run from an overturned empty barrel and make a dash down one of the many winding side alleys of the third level. That man was Endo.

"Shit is that me?"

---------------------

"Mhm." Belzagar murmured skeptically at Sigeric's response. He scanned the room and the many faces then heard the Hobbit's plea. A slight smile crossed his lips as he heard it then looked away from the audience quickly. The General coughed, composed himself and turned back. Vardamir was watching him intently as were the rest of the crowd.

"It appears I was wrong in pointing my finger at Sigeric Redhaven. He does not appear to be the cause of whatever did occur. However, this does not absolve him from any guilt. There are many other matters to attend to. For instance," He raised a finger to the air, "Where is the barbarian?"

Everyone stared blankly.

"Apologies," Belzagar coughed again, "I meant where is the Hybrid Shifter. He was apparently apprehended with the Serpent who is now confirmed to be deceased. The Serpent's inheritor who is now a young woman who is sitting in this very crowd, mind you, that is another issue to be dealt with. Now. Someone care to explain where he is? The dungeon he was located in collapsed. So if there is a way to locate him or a potential inheritor, please do provide one to me, Giants of Gondor."
